Its actually the result of everyone calling for nerfs all the time.
So the result ends up being these milk toast bland exotics.
If anything is even remotely good, you see cry threads and a Datto video.

Sub my guy this does not a apply. Everyone has access to this exotic. It is really easy to get simply look up a YouTube video. This is a bigger problem. This a problem with bungie shipping incomplete content to their consumers

I honestly dont know what's worse. Shipping full, useful and cool exotics, only to have them gutted after threads and videos come out calling things broken and boycott until "xyz" has been done, or just elimination of the middle man, and give us fairly bland ones. I mean when is the last time anyone pulled out sleeper, or queenbreaker, or Luna boots, or Gvest, or....on and -blam!-ing on.

Honestly id rather get something really strong, even if only for a few weeks, to break the monotony of the usual meta. When you get something boring and bland, however, theres no reason for bungie to ever put any more effort into balancing or - heavens forbid - buffing it. Right now bungie is going down the exact same path that lead to D2 year 1, of nerfing everything and introducing bland stuff so the game appears “balanced”. Gimme an actually good carrot on a stick and ill gladly chase it, even if it gets nerfed later on, but stop throwing shit at us and expect us to not only grind for it but also by the new shiny ornament for it (side not; who tf designed this shitty ass ornament for xenophage like seriously EW)

This just isn't efficient. You want them to put a bunch of extra work and thought into something and then work MORE to make sure that a month later it sucks? Why?? Just take this crap-covered, watered down version of an incredible idea, shard that mellow turd, and move on. This community can't handle, or doesn't want cool stuff. Make everything do the same thing all the time, make it look different, but make it do the same. Guns. Classes. Enemies. NO variation. We want it all GREY, BA-BAY!!!!

But that was the entire premise behind elimination of the pinnacle weapons (recluse, MT, NF, Luna, ect) as it created issues. Nerfing those on the backend, after It requires some effort to get, feels bad. However introducing meh items, gets you meh feedback. But at least it isnt "recluse is broken, or I'm not playing Destiny until NF is removed." It's a very difficult situation. I tend to lean more towards what you are saying, to just give us powerful items and let us enjoy them for however brief it will be. I do have sympathy for the design folks. You certainly cant please everyone.

Yup like when people cried about Sleeper Simulant - they nerfed it to the ground. When people cried about Queenbreaker - they nerfed it. Exotic power weapons should one tap people, in pvp and gambit, without those nerfs we could have plenty of power weapons to choose from. Now we got only garbage that nobody is using.

Queenbreaker became a problem because they uped every other lfr aim assist, thus allowing queenbreaker to hit without even being on target.

Dont forget about Telesto, Lord of Wolves, ammo for Wardcliff, I could go on. Even now you see complaints about Truth which is probably next on the chopping block...
