I've been wondering after reading your post, maybe the new Champion mod system isn't fully developed yet, which is why it is currently restricted to certain weapon types and certain Exotics so they have more time to make sure it works on the other guns...
Anyway, I agree that Exotics are in a bad place right now due to missing Champion Mods. Personally, I would like to see specific Mods as an intristic ability to certain Exotics. Don't think all Exotics need these Mods, but some it just makes sense, for example Sleeper Simulant and Wish-Ender getting Anti-Barrier as they're designed to penetrate targets, Thorn and Lé Monarque getting Overload Rounds as they weaken enemies, and Arbalest and Legend of Acrius getting Unstoppable Rounds as they hit so hard, they're unstoppable.
(This is up to debate I guess, Arbalest really could get all three)

I completely agree that certain exotics should have intrinsic champion mod perks. Although I think Sleeper should have unstoppable rather than Anti-barrier and just let Arbalest get Anti-barrier instead since popping shields is kind of its thing. Honestly I wouldn't even mind seeing all exotics have them. Bad juju? Overload. Suros? Anti-barrier. The list could go on and on... The possibilities? Endless.
-
I don't think this is the plan for Bungie. Look at our seasonal artifact. Where's all the solar artifact bonuses? What happened to not dictating how we play?
-
I do like that thought, if not adding the ability to add the champion mods on to exotic weapons, then to make them intrinsic to exotics themselves. Sure it might limit how weapons are used, but I also think it would work along thematic lines like you were saying.

Sweet business needs something... I love this gun so much, more so after the insane buff to both it and the war pig. Never take it off. It'd be nice if they didn't punish me for it in the end game.

I wish it would too, but at the same time just because it does more damage to shields doesn't mean it matches the element of that shield, which is the whole point of match game.
I wish it would too, but at the same time just because it does more damage to shields doesn't mean it matches the element of that shield, which is the whole point of match game.
It’s exotic perk is massive damage to elemental shields. I’m not saying one shot (or shield disorient) but definitely stronger. It’s exotic so it can be strong.
-
It's exotic so it should do exotic things. When else would you use it? Shields in the regular game aren't strong enough to care about the elemental type or need to carry a specific weapon to deal with them. Arbalest will continue to sit in my vault while it has no purpose.
-
They could add a seasonal mod slot to all exotics. But perhaps at times only certain seasons artifact affect certain weapon types. This season hand cannons, sub machine guns, auto rifles and bows should have been able to benefit from overload / barrier mods. And that these mods could have been slotted into exotics as well. At best the exotics are only broken for a season until the mods change again for next season and usher in a new wave of exotics that benefit from a seasonal mod.
-
How about they all get access to all of them since we'll you know, it's fking required.
-
Arbalest is antibarrier though.. it's exotic perk is that it can crit targets no matter their elemental shield type. So bungie should just update that perk to also stun the target (overload mod) as the enemy gets crit shot And have it also work on any barriers as it's supposed to
-
And also have it work on any barriers...
I know you didn't mean the Enlightened shields in the raid but... imagine.

And also have it work on any barriers...
I know you didn't mean the Enlightened shields in the raid but... imagine.
Bungie logic "make a mod that is antibarrier... Oh but make it not work on CERTAIN things ._. "

The way I see it it's less of a development and more of a seasonal theme... next season we could see pulses, scouts, side arms, shot guns for example! The seasonal exotics could be similarly themed (pressumably the champions will dissapear and a new mechanic will take place - so whatever that may entail!)
-
That still sounds awful. Rendering entire classes of weapons functionally useless for a 2.5 month season is the farthest thing from okay.
-
Not fully developed? Yet it was 'fully hyped' for the release. Guns are becoming more and more useless in his game every season. With the nerf hammer already heavy on supers, I wonder what will be next.
-
Next season they're going to nerf everything even moooaaaarrrr!!!! All while simultaneously introducing a new and exclusive Eververse item..... "The Power Hug Finisher"!!! First, you'll tickle your enemies to near death. You'll know you've tickled them enough when you notice that they've pissed themselves from shear laughter. Second, you'll apply The Power Hug Finisher, which is now the only way to kill enemies! Sure, you're just hugging them.....until you hug the breath right out of them!! Mwahahahahaaaaa!!!😈

Sshhhhh... Don't give ideas to Bungie!

I've already been told by another poster that they should start sending me checks 😆 Although, I have to admit, after thinking about it for a while.... Yeah, I really want to see this Power Hug Finisher! Bungie! Make it happen!!! Aaaaannnndd here's why...
After applying the Power Hug Finisher AND hugging the breath right out of them, their heads pop in a proper "Grunt Birthday Party" fashion!!!
Also...
*pop* YAAAAYYY!!!

I've been wondering after reading your post, maybe the new Champion mod system isn't fully developed yet
Nothing with Bungie is ever "fully developed"

This is the most restricted I've felt since I started playing D2. Everything is starting to feel like a chore. The devs seriously have to fix this.

If it isn't full developed it is easy, don't release it, it doesn't make any sense working on certain weapon archetypes and not on others, I call BS on that one, they did it because of the so called "challenge" they're badly trying to create for the "elites" though with the wrong solutions and it will eventually push players away from the game
