[they did recently start calling destiny an mmo, and mmo’s tens to have a shit ton of grind.]
Destiny 2 allows for a maximum of 8 players in a public space participating in the same PvE instance. They can call it whatever they want, but that doesn’t make it so. It’s not an MMO by a long shot.
-
[fair point. But (not to divert your attention) has anyone else noticed that slightly longer comments and posts just get cut off?]
-
Game feel more like an “mmo lite” grind isn’t as bad as something like Disgaea, clocked in 200 hours grinding away which is amazing in my opinion
-
[I suppose this is better than the one other guy who commenting saying Destiny is in no way an MMO and used profane language to describe his opinion on my opinion.]
-
Not an MMO. Not even close.
-
[the definition of an MMO according to dictionary.com if you would like to check my source.]
massively multiplayer online game: any online video game in which a player interacts with a large number of other players.
I don’t consider destiny an mmo, and bungie is a long ways away from making it one. 6 man raids, 3 man fireteams, extremely shallow lootpools and their “big yearly dlc” this year was almost the same size as one of their $20 dlc’s. Doesn’t sound like an mmo to me and if it is then it’s a shitty one.
-
[I never said it was a good one, I just said that that’s what bungie says it is. Also, I’m not sure what the full story on their end might be, but the small raid teams and fireteam sizes will likely be accounted to “balance” or “console limitations”. I don’t agree with it, but I can bet money that’s what bungie will say about it if asked.]

Bungie doesn't get to define genres just because they happen to make a game. Not how it works.
-
[I never said the defined a genre, plus quite a few fans (I’m not counting me in this) have been calling it an MMO or MMORPG for years.]
-
I can call my F-150 a Ferrari all day long.. it doesn't make it one.
-
[thats a completely fair and just point, but destiny kind of always has been an MMO, bungie only recently started admitting it.]
-
Lol. Not once. Not one damn feature says MMO. Not. -blam!-ing. One.
-
[lets see, matchmaking for 3 out of 7 activity types to do, large social spaces/“neutral” zones, large areas where multiple groups of players can come together to complete tasks. Seems like an MMO to me. Also, why’d you have to activate bungie’s profanity filter?]
-
It's "kind of" a lot of things, but not really good at any of them.
-
DING DING DING DING. You want a super shooter RPG MMO with competitive PVP? You'll get not one of those things and a mess of a game. It cannot be done at this point in time, no team is capable of handling something so -blam!- ambitious.

[thats easily the best summary of this franchise I’ve ever heard.]
