What gives you that impression? You seem to be missing an important part of the armour 2.0 system. If you go and get one of those armour pieces that you think looks cool right now, then it will be a 2.0 item. It's the exact same effect as having those items be ornaments, just that you're wearing the default appearance instead.
So is the problem here that people don't know that old items are affected or that they don't like that they have to do activities to get things they last had drop probably over a year ago?

Please tell me how to do that with trials, Faction rally and solstice armor.

Trials and Faction Rally items are unavailable, and I will concede that I think that needs to be changed, as the items the ornaments apply to are no longer available. For Solstice, it relies on you using the 2.0 Solstice set from the Gunsmith, which can take the green and blue ornaments from Y1 Solstice armour. As a side note, the blue ornament set doubles as Ikora's Y1 armour too. You're somewhat limited by the stats you get on the armour, but it's not a big enough issue to influence how you play the game.
