Arguing for a mandatory buyback of assault weapons, Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke declared during Thursday night’s presidential debate, “Hell yes, we are going to take your AR-15, AK-47.”

I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again. Put the guns down and fight like real men. Or embrace your weakness and keep the guns, personal choice I suppose.

2 RespuestasI mean, do civilians really need semi-auto assault weapons?

7 RespuestasAnd here come the posts from the masses, defending your rights and ownership of your AR. Because you need it for the current, ongoing zombie apocalypse, the Russian invasion of our homeland, and all the times the CIA breaks down your door to take your family to concentration camps. If you can’t stop a home intruder or robber with something other than an AR than you probably shouldn’t be handling a firearm. If you seriously anticipate a home invasion the likes of which you need an AR for, then I guess you must be Jason Bourne. “What’s your hobby?” “Playing video games and shooting an AR at targets, because it’s cool.” If the shit really hit the fan, most of you couldn’t build a fire, find food, are so out of shape you couldn’t outrun a 13 year old wielding a knife, and would probably panic and freeze anyway if faced with a life threatening situation. You’ll argue but okay. I’m not saying I agree with mandatory buy back of guns or gun bans. I own guns. I’ve defended my home from an intruder with one before. It wasn’t an AR because I didn’t need one. But there is nothing wrong with some new legislation when there is something like 10 guns per every human in this country, and maniacs and unstable people, maybe your next door neighbor or baby sitter, can obtain a gun easier than they can get Sudafed. Owning a gun, especially a military grade rifle, in 2019, is a right, but it is also a privilege. Some people don’t deserve that privilege and it’s as simple as that and there are no regulations in place to make sure those people can’t obtain firearms. Simple.

5 RespuestasOh boo hoo, like my grandfather says, real men use rifles, anyone who needs an AR is trying to compensate for something.
-
Guess my 1911 is military grade because it was used by our armed forces. Sadly I lost in a boating accident.
-
[that sounds ... unconstitutional.]

I was gonna sell back my guns to Beto, but he didn't pass the background check himself.
-
Trump already won 2020 once Biden and Warren announced that they were running for president
-
I don't think Mr. O'Rourke understands that he can't.

I'll take how to start a civil war for 500

1 RespuestaEditado por Unicorn Goo: 9/14/2019 3:36:16 PMIt's funny how, well, dumb people are on this subject. Everyone fixated on AR and AK for no other reason than their lack of knowledge. https://www.ruger.com/products/mini14RanchRifle/models.html The ranch rifle is nearly the same as an AR or AK and was used in the 1986 Miami shootout with the FBI. The fact that people are fixated on the AR and AK, instead of talking about all the rifles with the same capabilities as them, shows that this is more about what the guns look like/media has said and not what they are capable of. If people really want to take the gun control discussion seriously, they need to educate themselves more.

23 RespuestasFun fact: Reagan was against these types of weapons being for civilian use, also.

1 RespuestaIf this does happen. States can call themselves "sanctuary states". If it works for illegal aliens then it should work for guns.

Editado por Section Ratio General: 9/14/2019 5:03:55 AMI feel like the title of the post should indicate which presidential candidate said it. I watched the debate, and while you did mention it was O'Rourke who said it, the title is extremely misleading for those who haven't watched the debate. Edit: Btw, let's put this into perspective for people who own firearms here. Let's say the government did try taking your guns and they decide to send the military to do the job. How are you honestly going to fight back against military grade weaponry when they have actual automatic weapons and rockets, training in said weapons, and they also have things like tanks and jets vs. let's say whatever you have in your gun locker? Fearmongering happens on both sides, but if you think the government is really going to take your guns away, they would have done so already if the US decided to elect someone with a totalitarian mindset. By that point, it would have been at the fault of the US citizens who did that rather than just one political party. Seriously, let's just set aside the blind paranoia and think about this critically for one second.

1 RespuestaEditado por Neko Neko Nya: 9/13/2019 9:24:38 PMDaily reminder that the WORST mass shooting in American history was when the US government tried to steal Native American firearms. Wounded Knee Massacre, look it up. Ironic though isn’t it? The very people they claim will protect us killed a group that liberals hold near and dear to their heart in a manner they want to carry out today. But remember, it’s the orange man who’s bad!

Lol, unlikely

1 RespuestaLol idk why so many people on the right are upset. Does beto look like the kind of iron willed dictator that could carry that out?

You’ll have to pry them from my cold dead hands. But we all know YOU won’t do it, you’ll get somebody ELSE to do it in a textbook mafia fashion.
