Are all these pve buffs actually nerfs vs minors?

Seen many videos talking about pve buffs to auto rifles, scouts, etc. But one part of the twab says that precision damage of minor enemies is getting massive nerf. It says it was previously doubled compared to majors and now it will be reduced to the same level "dependent on the weapon" whatever that means. Does this mean that your buffed weapons will be doing less damage to minors than before? Obviously don't know without testing but I'm reading this as precision damage bonus is halved for minors? Hence this is a nerf.... Or am I misunderstanding? Edit: yes it's an enormous nerf. See Ehroar's video https://youtu.be/QsqVtQGoQRU

  • It's only a major concern if a Duke can't even one shot a Dreg to the head in the EDZ. You can imagine what a scout will do in that scenario.

    • Precision damage is only being nerfed on minor adds right? And most guns got a buff to all damage, I think it will be fine but we will have to wait and see how it plays.

Anyone should be able to understand the changes themselves, and it doesn’t take long to understand why the changes were done. My guess is the following: precision damage on red bars was reduced to better balance out the primaries. Scout rifles are shit. They have been for a while. And why is that? Because hand cannons and pulse rifles can do everything a scout rifle can and more. Hand cannons one shot kill most red bars at most ranges that engagements occur at. Pulse rifles one burst kill most red bars, and at the same ranges that scout rifles are suppose to be used. Scout rifles on the other hand require more shots to kill than hand cannons. It’s sad seeing scout rifles leave red bars with the TINIEST bit of health left. Now that hand cannon and pulse rifle ranges are being reduced, scout rifles are getting the biggest damage buff out of all the primaries against red bars, and precision damage on red bars is being halved, scout rifles will have a place again. Scout rifles and hand cannons will now probably both take 2 shots to kill on most red bar enemies, BUT scout rifles will be able to do it from a further range. The reason behind why this makes auto rifles more viable is similar. Auto rifles, being full auto, aren’t always going to be landing precision hits. Now that precision damage on red bars won’t be as impactful, auto rifles will be a more viable choice. Will this make red bars harder to kill? Yes it will. BUT it isn’t like red bars are becoming as difficult to kill as orange bars, they’ll still be mindlessly easy to deal with. The whole point of the changes then are to even out the power of the (main 4) primary weapon types. As for the other primary weapons, bows already overkill red bars so they’ll be the same as ever, SMGs are in a similar boat to auto rifles, and sidearms are sidearms.

            • They’re buffing the base weapon damage so precision is being lowered based on each weapon to insure that it’s not double that new base damage. Completely reasonable to keep precision from being op in comparison to body shots.

                • I read it as a nerf too. They did a good job making it subtle lol but it sounds like its gonna take more bullets to drop a redbar.

                • Guys calm down, you all realise that every time Bungie nerfs the crap out of one thing they also secretly buff the hell out of another right? I don't know whether that on purpose or if they are just idiots, but I can garentee there will be a new meta that might be even better than the ones we have now, who know maybe Sidearms with rampage will actually do 1000% damage with full rampage instead of 100%. The point is none of this crap, YouTube or TWAB, could ever correctly account for the amount of BS that Bungie updates. Think about it. Name one time there hasn't been a hands down best way to approach a way to kills enemies. Yes plz there is a few ways to mix up gameplay, but right now one of the best builds I could come up with is Mountaintop, Recluse, and an exotic heavy that fits the environment. Using a Titan w/ rally or Lunas makes this 100 times more effective. You get the point. Shadow keep with either be the exact same as D2 right now, just shifting the meta, or it will be like D2 launch, and everyone will quit until they get their crap together. If you're feeling like it may suck then just go play another game and wait for the storm to blow over, that why I'm playing R6 right now, they made an update that blew me away because it was legit 100% good, like o can't find a single thing wrong with it except for one tiny tiny detail, but even that I'm fine with. Either way good luck my guys can don't let these posts scare you. I know that Bungie has left something major out, whether it's a good or bad thing is something we won't know until October.

                • I just wanted to say I wish the actual factions felt different. I might be wrong but Cabal minions back in D1 felt like they took more ammo to bring down vs the other factions. I dont mind the Cabal being bullet sponges, their rank and file are supposed to be heavily armed and armored 800lbs rhino/turtlemen. If they want to make worthwhile changes then they need to look into how almost everything staggers mobs.

                  The wording on the twab makes you believe that we are getting buffs to various weapons and weapon types. What they left out was that precision damage is getting a 50% nerf. Which means all those buffs they tricked you into thinking were going into effect are actual just overall nerfs that they cleverly mislead you to believe. Shame on you for lying bungie, transparency and fine print are not the same.

                  • A poster on Reddit broke it down and the answer is that primary weapons are gonna be weaker and have a slower TTK against red bar enemies. Damage against Major enemies will be increased.

                    • It's pretty much pointless. Minors go down in one or two shots/bursts anyway. As for the actual adjustment it'll probably just work out the same as it is now.
