I'm tired of the way the gun control "debate" is constantly framed. Or more accurately, how anti gunners constantly frame it. "Guns are bad, they arent used for anything good, and anything that results in less guns, less people owning guns, neutered guns, or that makes gun ownership more tedious and expensive is a good thing". If the people calling for a "discussion" on gun control really want a "discussion" they should be willing to give the issue a proper cost/benefit analysis and not a "cost... we wont consider the benefits." Analysis. When someone uses a box truck to kill like 80 people or when someone gets drunk and crosses over the center line, killing somebody, which happens all the time, we dont try to ban cars because [i]we recognize they have a benefit[/i] in our society. "But eccho, guns are designed to kill!" Pfft, and? If someone is trying to inflict death or grave bodily harm to you, or someone you care about, or me, yes, something "designed to kill" is appropriate. Point being you cant sit there and [i]refuse to even consider [/i] any unintended consequences of gun control and simultaneously tell me that you have in interest in being "reasonable". It would be just as fallacious as sitting here pretending [i]all cars do is kill people [/i]. I'm also tired of the insistence that if we dont agree with Joe Biden's calls for confiscating this or that or whatever other insane proposal the anti gunners have these days, its because [i]we dont care about people dying. [/i] It's not that we dont think your proposals would [u]actually help.[/u] oh no. We cant have that. They have to dehumanize the opposition by insisting the only reason they disagree is because we are all heartless sociopaths who dont care about people dying. I also keep hearing about how if we dont support the anti gun position "oh so you want us to just do nothing". Here's a plan. 1) pass national reciprocity. 2) end "gun free zones" 3) vote out politicians who do nothing but offer gun control as a solution to "gun violence" but do nothing to address the socioeconomic conditions that lead to violence in urban areas in the first place. 4) research what, if any link there is between psychotropic drugs and violence, and address the mental health crisis in this country. 5) provide time off for firearms training. Especially for people in low income areas because they tend to live in places with the most violence. 6) teach gun safety in schools. 7) have armed guards and actual security in schools. And other places you dont want normal peasants to be able to defend themselves. 8) actually include "gun people" in the discussion about firearm policy.
