Destiny 2 started pretty strongly with the Leviathan Prestige mode. The void room mechanic is easily my favourite. Then EoW happened, which was delayed twice if I remember correctly, then scheduled to be released with the SoS prestige mode. My fellow clan mates and I got extremely hyped up, theorising what mechanics could be changed - but nothing. Just restricted load outs and modifiers, plus harder ads. A MAJOR let-down in my opinion. I see people actively avoiding prestige runs for both EoW and SoS, Leviathan is still a big hit.
Now, LW, SOTP & COS all have no prestige modes, something Bungie seems to have retired completely. Titles are extremely nice & doing a flawless run is somewhat challenging, but raids feel very empty without prestige versions of them. PROPER prestige versions, not just slapping a modifier and weapon load outs onto them and calling them prestige.
I understand that it takes a lot of time, money and creative investment to adjust mechanics and maintain prestige modes. Yet, I think that D1 raids show how easy it can be:
- No revives (maybe not do-able in D2 with the counter)
- Aksis went from 3 orbs to needing 7 orbs to take down the shield
- The oversoul that spawned after every damage phase on Crota
- Light Eater Knights in KF
Changes don't need to be massive, but adding them would certainly add more to the raids. And the weekly challenge bounties for raids certainly do not add that 'prestige' feel to SOTP, COS or LW.
So, on to the GOS armour set (I'll reserve my final judgement for when I actually get it), seeing that it is a (sorry about this) a 'lazy' reskin compared to many of the other armour sets shown off in today's TWAB, it kinda makes me think how much value is still put into the raids.
I absolutely LOVED LW, SOTP was a hard miss for me, COS went back where it should be, but it doesn't fix the issue a lack of prestige modes brings. And I believe that Bungie is doing their best, but come on! For a game that is so focussed on raids, not having prestige modes just seems off.
That is my rant. I guess, the anger over the reskinned armour is what really sets me off. I thought, 'well enough', about the lack of actual prestige raids, but the GOS armour is just the cherry on this metaphorical sundae.
I sincerely hope that Bungie brings back Prestige raids, that focus on mechanics and have amazing loot.

This is something that bugged me for a long time, and Prestige mode is kind of tied into it: why can’t we have total raid weapon sets anymore? Back in D1, while there we’re some allowances for weapons types (for example, sidearms were pretty scarce until end of TTK-start of ROI, if I recall correctly), there were as many weapons that you could physically get from a raid. Wrath was a very good example of this, where the only type of weapon that wasn’t represented was a sword (and let’s be honest, swords in D1 that weren’t exotics kind of sucked big time, excluding the lunge range) But in D2, there hasn’t been a raid where all weapon types are available. Yes, I understand creating weapons takes time, especially weapons from scratch, but it’s just something that always bugged me. Leviathan only fulfills this if you consider base Leviathan, EoW, and SoS all one raid, which they are not. (And technically it didn’t do it either, considering the fact there hasn’t been a raid linear fusion rifle yet. Bows also weren’t even in the game at the time, too.) Last Wish is missing a sidearm (and how I wish there were more raid sidearms in this game, I absolutely love my Last of the Legion, and I suffered through SoS to get it), a shotgun, a linear fusion (whatever that counts for), a grenade launcher, a sword, and technically a fusion and a sniper (yes, they’re there, but the Queen’s Wrath aesthetic always felt off to me when we were collecting weapons that look like we carved from Riven’s chitin itself). Scourge is kind of hard to judge here, since the weapons from it are from the same make as the forge weapons (obviously), so technically there are more ‘raid’ weapons available. Even so, no sidearm, no grenade launcher (not counting Exotics in this), no linear fusion... CoS, while having two weapons that I absolutely adore (Gahlran’s Right Hand and Emperor’s Courtesy), is missing a heap of weapons that I won’t even name. (And no, Menagerie does not count, so still no sidearm, lol). And by the looks of it, GoS will also have a limited weapon selection, which is disappointing. Perhaps a Prestige mode could add some of these weapon types to the loot pool to give more diversity, but one can only dream...

3 RespuestasPrestige raids in d2 were boring af. They give us hard mode only now. We dont get normal mode. Big part of why people raid less now too. Removed the fun for many. Bring back the rewards. Being back the fun. Make raiding great again.
-
1 RespuestaI have to say, raid bosses lack innovation and even attacks in general. As much as you want to shit on D2Y1 raids, at least the bosses actually attacked you during DPS phase. When Spire came out? Val absolutely destroyed you if you were anywhere out in the open.
-
Destiny 2 raids were shit until last wish, D1 raids are all better than any D2 raid by far

What Bungie needs to do is go back to designing the Prestige Raid first then toning it down for Easy. For this to work however, they also need to make raid weapons substantially better and create new weapon perks that can only be found from the raid. The meh rolled weapons we’ve been getting gives us no loot insensitive to run raids.
-
I would LOVE to have prestige mode back IF it were only mechanic changes. None of that Modifier and curated loadout crap that absolutely RUINED two fun raids! That shit is for things like strikes and has no business in raids!
-
1 RespuestaMechanics that force me to kill the boss the proper way?? Heresy I say, the game needs raid bosses to be 1 phased to be considered relevant and “fun”. All jokes aside I don’t enjoy the current lay out for raids in D2, loved them in D1 and was often a Sherpa for noobies
-
Well said agree completely
-
I'd prefer this over the flawless runs. As it's more challenging content
-
2 RespuestasI'd be happy if they just made an actual raid, not a game show or raid lair. Last Wish was great. Leviathan was a game show, all the other raids were just layers in the Leviathan and SotP looks like a strike almost.
-
How about they bring back raid armor first?
-
1 RespuestaDont need it. They say they give the hard version now.

1 Respuesta
Destiny 2 started pretty strongly with the Leviathan Prestige mode.
We can say stuff like thi now and not get downvoted into oblivion? Have I accidentally stepped into another dimension?

I actually prefer one difficulty per raid. What’s the point in making an easy mode, redundant after one completion? It’s also slightly annoying having to learn the same raid twice and having to change strategies when moving up to heroic. Just add all the mechanics in the first place! Content resources are better spent elsewhere.
-
Doing things is hard
-
Can we change the title to *raid difficulty ? You know, so maybe the stuff we have isn't so balently OP by virtue of a target that doesn't just stand there and take it.
-
Bungie got lazy
-
1 RespuestaWould it make a difference? Not really
-
18 RespuestasBungie won't do it. New content is hard. It's much easier to just destroy our exotics and supers until the original raid is hard again, which seems to be the path they're taking.
-
Make the loot worthwhile something that says x player has completed the raid Prestige modes should be hard and again should scale it's rewards to reflect this. Put time and effort in and be rewarded with good gear that looks and feels powerful. As for the raids less boring mechanics and more action, have it so a player can have that clutch moment where they save the day and everyone is going mad in coms dam I miss that...
-
Nah we’ll just nerf your damage. Have fun! (We are listening) -Bungie

The abilities and supers being adjusted, it’ll be great. People are getting some sort of difficulty out of it. We’ll see how those, “I don’t wanna waste my time, make your own post” people do on regular. Not too big on prestige
