There was a time Destiny was fun, there was a time were you didn't care or didn't have the urge to grind the shįt out of some activity. With the Annual Pass, grinding some activity (Forges, GP, Menagerie) felt more like an obligation rather than an optional thing to do.
Bungie gives us 3 months to play a Season, that's just too little. This is how a season works:
1st Month: You level up, get to know the new Raid and Activity, start earning the new gear.
2nd Month: You have your character all geared out and you start grinding for the Season's title, because you know that when the Season goes away, no one is going to ever help you get a Flawless Scourge run, get a flawless Heroic Menagerie (3 times), hell even no one is going to help you do the Izanagi's quest or Niobe Labs, the Lumina quest or something like that. If you want a Quest Exotic, you better do it on the week it comes out or you're never going to get it because no one is going to help you get it 1, 2 or even a 4 months later (AKA Lumina).
3rd Month: Now that you have your title, all new weapons and Exotics and all that stuff (IF you went hard and had a competent Clan) now what? I spend 1 month leveling up and grinding new weapons and armor to only use them for a month, because now the last month of a Season is just us waiting for the new one to drop. And with the addition of Armor 2.0 (which is a chore in and on itself) all my work for 2 months is going away, I grinded hard to get my Iron Banner armor, my god rolled Crown of Sorrow armor and my Solstice set too. And I only get to enjoy them for a month?
Now, I'm a Shadow and I couldn't have done it without my Clan which I'm thankful for. But I feel for people who don't have a Clan, who don't have competent players that they can rely on, I feel for people who have to LFG for a simple Crown that takes them 2 hours instead of a quick 30 minute run. Destiny wasn't always like this, Bungie is making this game hard for solo players, and I know it because there was a time when I didn't have a great Clan, let alone people who constantly invited me to Raids, both in D1 and in D2. But I just couldn't see myself getting Shadow if I was a solo player. Destiny is getting super grindy, that's what people asked for, but the grind isn't fun, it feels like an obligation rather than an option. Bungie said Destiny is an RPG, and I'm afraid they'll lean hard on that, people aren't always going to have a Clan to help them on Raids and stuff like that, people aren't always going to have free time to grind this game and Bungie need to understand that.
So where do I want to get with all this mumbo jumbo?
I just want Bungie to respect our time and to not make it hard on the solo players.
EDIT: I'm not hating that there's too much content, I think it's great and there's definitely more things to do than in D1. The problem is that the content isn't as fun anymore, everyone sighs when someone wants to do a Heroic Menagerie or Gambit Prime. The one thing I do dislike is how little time they give for each Season, I think 4 months would be better than 3, that way you enjoy all the stuff you grinded on that Season.
Thanks for reading and have a great week.

I normally play with my small group of friends. Raids, strikes, secret missions and exotic quests. I've never really needed to play Destiny solo in my 5 years since D1. But this past month I've grinded and lived the life of a solo player so I can tell you now, its simply untrue that this game is impossible for them. Throughout the end of July and most of August I spent my time in Destiny 2 grinding out Solstice armor by myself and also going for all 3 raid seals (Rivensbane, Blacksmith, Shadow) all without any help from anyone I knew. I used LFG and while there were some pretty frustrating experiences, I generally didnt run into any jerks and my flawless raid runs went pretty smoothly. Dont get me wrong, it was a pain in the butt for some things like the triumphs where everyone has to be the same class or subclass element, (thank the Traveler they didnt require that crap for Blacksmith and Shadow) but I was able to do it in 1 months time and acquire all 3, days apart from each other (last thing I needed was Safe Haven, spent a whole hour trying to get a team in LFG only to try doing it with randoms and got it on my 4th menagerie run that day, I was ecstatic.) So while Destiny is most certainly more enjoyable and designed to be played with friends, it's not impossible for a solo player to do some of the most challenging tasks and engage with other individuals who might be in the same boat. You can even make some friends along the way maybe. Anyways, just trying to say you shouldn't give up and if you decide to go it alone, it will most certainly be more difficult, but it's certainly not impossible. TlDr; Playing solo is harder, the game is made to be played with others, but you can get anything done if you're willing to use LFG groups. I got all 3 raid seals and titles through LFG alone and I normally play with a group.

I basically stopped playing mid-SotD because the game became such a job, but with confirmation that we will not be gated from any activities by our ranks and more importantly that all progress on both season artifacts and season ranks is account based so we can play all our characters again and not be forced to focus one or repeat horrid grinds on all three, it seems very much like PvE could be a fun and accessible experience again and not a required full time job.

4 RespuestasEditado por ken31cayman: 8/30/2019 1:10:16 PMWhen D1 was released I thought it was absolutely epic. Best game EVER. I played daily for one & a half years, even woke up hours before I needed to go to work just to play. But once they started taking things away and nerfing other things this started chipping away at this absolutely epic game for me. By about the end of D1 Yr 2 the game was really losing its lustre for me and it was about leaving all my great weapons I worked for behind when the new light level dropped, or nerfing them / abilities, exotic armor, etc. In short I was tired of working so hard to build my characters only to have to do it again and again. I get it that this is how Bungie designed the game to work, but for me it just got too old and right now I haven't played D1 or D2 since early this year. Couldn't they have made some <great> weapons/armor remain perpetually with the character through the years?

1 RespuestaThe main problem with d2 is it is just over inflated. It’s a mile wide but an inch deep. They focused on making more activities to do, without making any real reason to do them. The loot in d2 is just weak and ugly compared to the loot in d1. They have pinnacle weapons that are just basically regular legendaries in d1.

Also a D1 vet. Mostly on the pve side. I've come to the conclusion that Destiny is basically a love/hate relationship. When its good, friends are on and there's an objective to grind out, its a blast, including the grind. The times you're playing solo, especially once leveled, just not much to do and really no reason to play. I, like just about everyone else that has the thousands of hours playing this game, have my own long list of small and large changes that would make this game better. I also realize that my list is probably different than everyone else's that post in the forums so usually don't post much. I'm grabbing Shadowkeep, but for the first time in five years, I'm not buying the seasonal/annual pass. My Titan main is thinking about retiring and jumping into a Vex time/dimensional portal and testing the waters elsewhere.

2 RespuestasI feel like they’re taking the fun aspect out of too many things. Maybe it’s just me?

13 RespuestasDestiny 1 was WAY more grindy than Destiny 2 has ever been. The problem with D2 is that its loot pool is shallow...and its loot lack luster....and the game is stingy with it. Whereas in Destiny 1 we grinded our asses off but for game-chaningly----in some cases game-breakingly----powerful loot. Bungie needs to stop being stingy....and focus on giving us loot that is worth chasing. Then people will stop complaining about the grind.

D1 felt like a chore to me during a couple of periods: -Right before TDB -A few months after the April update -Post Rise of Iron D2 became a chore quickly pre-Forasaken It always felt like I had a checklist, and that it was limited to very specific activities. Now while I still have a bit of a checklist, I at least have reasons to run things that I like, and that is in part due to being able to infuse anything, unique perks on some gear, triumphs/seals/collections, and powerful rewards/prime engrams. Not 100% sure how things will change come Shadowkeep, but as long as I can run things like Forges and still feel like I'm making some progress whilst having some fun, I'm fine

Can you teach me Crown? Its the only raid I didnt do yet and 30 min sounds very quickly

There will be no end to grinding. You see, D2 is going down free to play route. That means the base game will cast a wide net over as many gamers as possible (probably by dumbing down story content even further) hoping to catch those interested enough to stay a while longer. Bungie will try to hook them with FOMO mechanics of the season pass, grinding, and never ending list of things to chase for. No reward will feel like the pinnacle. Because "seasons"; they need to sell you stuff ad nauseam. Those who want to play a good game on a time table of their own choosing have to look elsewhere.

3 RespuestasEditado por Sinisis: 8/29/2019 1:44:12 PMI agree. It's more so the nature of the grind than the grind itself. The grind is mind-numbing, not tied to any lore, pointless and the reward is not worth it or soon to be nerfed or obsolete. What does running 20 patrols on Nessus have to do with an armor or exotic? Or playing crucible for an exotic that will never be used there (ex. Lumina)? It's become clear that certain things are added as chores for content-padding and to buy some time before the release of Dattokeep. You know what's fascinating? You cannot act without having an intention, so often times, you can actually feel the intention behind certain actions that affect you. I think that's what's happening here. When a product becomes more about money than art, you can feel the difference. Bungo is not what it used to be, and so neither is Destiny.

2 RespuestasRetire from the game. After a season ends, nobody will help you with its content. PVP is trash. Exotics suck. The entire game is a failure.

Editado por DeathPony07: 8/30/2019 10:28:04 AMD1 was perfect with Age of Triumph. Apparently, Bungie forgot all the improvements they made to D1, and gave us the turd sandwich that was D2 vanilla. Then, they pandered to the neckbeard elitists and turned the game into the boring, unrewarding grind fest we have today.

1 RespuestaD1 struck what felt like an excellent balance to me in regards to hobby balance. Content addition suffered a bit and could have been a little better, but it is what it is. I loved that I could play Destiny, complete objectives within a day or two, and play other games until something else happened. It was amazing and I looked forward to D1 every time. I felt I worked just the right amount of time for VIRTUAL rewards. The first year of D2 streamlined the experience greatly. They handed everything out like candy. Of course that wasn't really acceptable. Not to mention the best loot was obtained literally in patrol. Toning down the pacing of combat made it extremely sluggish. Having chosen to wait 6 months to buy Y2, I found that each successive season added more and more grind on its way to becoming an "action MMO." The crazy thing is that I've played full blown MMOs that have less grind in them than Destiny. The fact that Destiny is eating up more and more of my gaming free time is just disappointing. Just as something can be too easy, something can be too grindy. They've chose their crowd and I respect that. After Opulence, Destiny just isn't for this Taken Tot anymore.

Ah i checked your bio, you pass the D1 fake test

I agree. Year 3 D1 was really where we should’ve left off. It had grind and challenges, but it was still fun and felt rewarding.
-
Ive been having fun with it. Yeah Solstice was a but too much. And I dont know why more people dont complain about Blacksmith, which I have, because that was a Grrriiinnnnddd! But even with repetitive grind, when you finally get it done, in many cases, it feels good. Now, I will say, I hate the 'play 100 gambit matches' or 'kill 8000 enemies with a grebade launcher' quests..

I honestly quit D2 after Forsaken because there was too much content. If it wasn't such a heavy grind, I'd be fine with it, but given how much time and effort it takes just to get some exotic weapons and armor just to drop them off in my vault makes the amount of content feel very overwhelming and unrewarding. Also, the time-gated events and strict limits on material stacks really irritated me most. You couldn't save decrypted cache keys for the next EP, which is -blam!- of Bungie because the rewards those keys could yield upon opening the EP chests were complete shit. I still haven't been able to get all of my characters to the maximum Power level yet because Bungie kept increasing it while I was still grinding away on other activities. I wasted 30+ hours of grinding in the Crucible just to get Luna's Howl just because of the number of steps that required hand cannon kills in the Crucible. The quests in D1 weren't nearly that painstaking, but at least they were more fun to do than D2's quests. Having more content is good, but Bungie is just shoving it in our faces extremely late in the game's life cycle. Why couldn't some of the annual pass content be released during times of obvious content droughts (e.g. Curse of Osiris and post-Red War) or when there were no planned events, like Festival of the Lost, in Y1? It just seems like they've lost touch with the community.

31 RespuestasEditado por name: 8/29/2019 5:10:09 AMit is because of eververse microtransaction, before there were lootboxes there was no point to artificially inflate playtime because people paid a set amount of money regardless how much they played now by transforming it into a tripleA mobile game system, they require you to play non stop because only a playing player will potentially buy microtransactions

Remember when people who could only play 6 hours a week didn't have to feel left out because they could still hit all the high points for rewards? Pepperidge farm remembers.

more microtransactions on the way, including a -blam!-ing battlepass. yes, it's going to become more of a chore, for sure.

7 RespuestasI hate these post saying,”From a D1 vet”. There’s a new one every day.
