The lack of people who’ve played halo here disturbs me

I would highly recommend getting it if you have never played through them before. Granted, playing CE and 2 will seem really dated, for they are a few generations old game wise. The graphics in Anniversary mode make them look more modern, but if you go achievement hunting you will need to rely on flipping back to Classic mode every so often, for the Anniversary overlay changes what you think you may be able to do with some terrain and structures. Halo 3 is still great imo. ODST is a decent play through. 4, well it's better than 5. With 4 you get Spartan Ops, which are 10 additional story mode campaign missions that you can play solo or in match making. Though I'd never recommend match making for campaign stuff because you never know what kind of dimwits you may end up with. Some steal all the vehicles or power weapons, other destroy all the good vehicles, others team kill, others speed run making the game just no fun, and others do nothing. Th main issue with all that is, the more players, the higher the difficulty ramps up. So if you're with one or more of those kinds of griefers, the game is unplayable. If you play them solo or with friends, they're really rather fun. There are a lot of achievements to be had if you're a trophy hunter. I'm not sure if that means anything on pc. It's 6,000 gamer score worth if you do them all on Xbox though. The story though will make you wonder what happened to Bungie with Destiny. There is such a good story behind Halo that when they dropped D1, it was like it came from a company that had no idea how to make a story at all.
