But lets not get too dramatic about it.
Most live service games see changes to the world, which means you can't get the old things in the old world back.
I highly doubt Bungie is just going to arbitrarily remove Strikes, or Crucible maps, or Raids, or anything like that. We are much more likely to see shifts in what already exists, similar to how Azeroth was scarred by the Cataclysm in the World of Warcraft. If new content comes in that overwrites old content by revamping planets, adding new Public events, new enemies and new patrols to areas previously unseen, I think it's going to be a great time, even if that means some of the old events need to go.
If your goal is to buy games for their content and play it as is 3, 5, 10 years down the road, Destiny is probably not for you. Go play The Witcher 3 or Skyrim or Breath of the Wild. Those games will never see live service overwrites of previous content, because they are not live service games. You buy DLC, it gets tacked on, and you keep it forever. No matter how old you get, the game stays as is, bloated with old DLC and all.
Bungie has stated that they want to go in the direction of an evolving, MMO world. That means that things are going to change and you won't be able to go back in time and do the things you missed. Play them while they're current, or don't. Either way, the world is going to evolve with or without you in it similar to how Azeroth did in several iterations. That is a good thing for live service games.
Furthermore, if $10 for 3 months of seasonal content isn't worth it for you, then don't play. If you're in the military and on tour for 6 months and miss a few seasons, that's OK too. Don't pay for those seasons, and you won't lose anything. You'll just miss out on what was available during that season, but who cares because you have other things going on in your life any way.
I sincerely embrace the direction that Bungie is going in with Destiny. I'll probably miss out on bits of seasonal content too, but that doesn't mean I want Bungie to wait for me until I return to the game. Time limitations in evolving worlds is a necessary step to keeping the world alive and fresh, otherwise we just get what we have now which is hundreds of Milestones, 90% of which most people don't even do because it's old news. I'm glad that is changing and there will be more agency with regards to player progression and the RPG power climb.
Edit: Just remember, you don't know the details of what content is going to have time-limitations, so don't panic and assume the worst. Live seasonal updates to keep a game engaging is much better than a game bloated by old DLC nobody plays anymore, especially when that game is played in an online-only world.

True for some, not for me tho.... To your edit.

Editado por Doctor_Roidberg: 8/21/2019 6:20:30 AMIt’s not that we don’t understand. It’s that we don’t have the OPPORTUNITY to understand because we haven’t been TOLD. We haven’t been explicitly told what kind of content will be disappearing, which means that things we genuinely enjoy could go bye bye. Imagine if Escalation Protocol disappeared after Warmind? That would kind of suck.

5 RespuestasCataclysm is what made me lose interest in WoW. Nice to see someone else making the comparison though. All that playtime leveling my Shaman, Rogue, Death Knight, Warrior, and Hunter. All desire just gone. The changes just killed the fun factor. So thankful for flying mounts. Lok'tar Ogar forever. But WoW died that very day. It's a shame it looks like Destiny is heading that way as well.

9 RespuestasIt’s also a natural reaction to Hunters..... Every time they start to lose a gunfight.... bam! Blade Barrage.... Every single Time.

4 Respuestas
I highly doubt Bungie is just going to arbitrarily remove Strikes, or Crucible maps, or Raids, or anything like that. how old you get, the game stays as is, DLC and all.
Bungie literally just confirmed they are going to arbitrarily remove crucible maps in October, despite how few maps and variety there already is in the mode.

3 RespuestasEh I don’t know man, I think if 5 years in to a franchise and you come to the conclusion that you wanna make a different kind of game then you should go make that instead Changing this after 5 years just looks like they didn’t have a clue what they’ve been doing. That’s just my opinion though
Most live service games see changes to the world, which means you can't get the old things in the old world back.
I thought about it today when I recalled one MMO I played. The thing is, the content that was removed was obsolete and had no use, like old armor and weapons, even if they were from raids and other top-tier content - new gear was simply stronger by a large margin. Looks didn't matter either because when the game has hundreds of items for costume slots no one cares about how the armor itself looks. There were only a few items that still had some use but weren't obtainable anymore at all.

So, thats why I never panic - I understand everything...

1 RespuestaI have never played a live service game- in my experience as a daily player, Destiny has certain rewards that take longer than 3 months to grind for and this is really my main concern. You seem knowledgable on this model of game and no one has been able to respond to me with anything but insults. I already play the game daily, and we all should be use to Bungie taking weapons away and giving them back. This whole idea of a dynamic game sounds great (Forsaken was by far my favorite time in 5 years of Destiny pve). What can I expect if I get the annual pass?
-
That being said though all we can do is jump to conclusions because they didn’t really explain much about this. I’ve got my own ideas about it but I’m not betting on them. There’ll be something dramatic.
-
most live service games suck , actually all of em :D
-
I'm conflicted since i'd like to see some world changes but don't want to see new content added only for it to be removed later on. Think they should clarify what's actually going to be added/removed in the seasons.
-
1 RespuestaI panic at your wall of text. Certainly don’t understand how you can lavish so much praise on a company that admitted its outright and numerous mistakes (via the director’s walls of text) Fanboy.
-
Panic? Being skeptical of something you're paying for stuff with a FOMO design around it isn't panic. It's a game, not a job, remember? This isn't the same as an event

16 RespuestasI've had a blast the last 2 days playing GTA 5 Online with friends. I bought GTA for Xbone just a few weeks after D1 dropped. I already had it on 360. It has a great single player story. I hadn't tried Online in years. It now has much more depth than last time I tried it years ago. The character creation puts Destiny to shame, then again, what game doesn't? I was given the option to completely change my appearance when I logged in today - free of charge. I'm doing whatever I want and collecting cash, cars, homes and more. For those inclined, you can play "dress up" for hours on end. I didn't have to give Rockstar any additional money beyond what they got from me when I originally bought the game back in 2014.

Exactly how many alts does Luke have on the board?
-
It’s honestly just kind of annoying, they are just trying to add more of a “fear of missing out” so you have even more of a -blam!-ing reason to avoid other games. Thanks Bungie
-
1 RespuestaPerhaps if Luke had been less ambiguous and vague in is magnum opus, we wouldn't be having these discussions.
-
2 RespuestasMaybe they will only remove the fun :)
-
I have yet to come across even 1 live service game that was sold at full price, paid dlc, season pass, and mtx that takes away content "for a time" (what ever that means). I can definitely see this being abused. Want that sparrow from season 2 that you couldn't get because we set the drop chance to negative a billion %? For a limited time offer tess is selling it for x amount of silver!! Buy now!
-
18 RespuestasYou forgot to mention that one can still play warcfraft starting from level 1 with all the contents you've paid for, i used to be a wow player for 5 years.
-
1 RespuestaAlso panic is what they want us to feel- this whole thing reminds me of a term that Ive seen used a few times in forums. FOMO
-
Live service : What a made up term for a incompetent direction that no matter what you do you can blame someone else and pretend to be listening and trying harder next time.
-
1 RespuestaThe bigger question I have is: Do you buy the expansion on Sept.1st or wait for the Black Friday discount which will also allow you read all the opinions?🤔 Also, the benefit is that you may find something else.
