Don't get me wrong. Ward of Dawn needed this to become good again. And I love it! Titans got their spot in pve back again. But what for Banner shield? It's now a worse Ward of Dawn. WoD protects you from all sides and let's the caster being able to shoot. Banner shield also gives weapons of light but you are less protected and the caster misses out on the dps phase resulting in a big loss of dps. The only thing Banner Shield does is giving the team an opportunity to shoot behind a barrier. Other than it maybe has some pvp viability over ward of dawn with the blocking. But it's really finicky when it does block a nova bomb or blade barrage or not. I've had times in matches where a shielded a bit too late and I blocked it. Or held it up way earlier then needed and still died. Anyways for pve I think Banner shield will be over shadowed by Ward of Dawn for sure. Give Banner Shield an exotic so you cam plant the shield or buff to make it an other viable option to use it. As of now it's only use is in the Menagerie.
