If Bungie wants to have consequences for losing, it should be losing Points, not Rank. So if you are say Heroic 2 and you are 500 points into that Rank. Say you go on a losing streak. When you lose all your points, you should stay at Heroic 2 and not lose that spot but you lose all your points. Since the Minority doesn’t like SBMM/CBMM etc. and knowing Bungie listens to the Minority and not the Majority and it most likely won’t happen. So since people get Matchmade by similar Points/Rank. Then it would make sense to make Ranks locked once you achieve said Rank but still lose points. That way it keeps Competitive, Competitive.
Cause all de-ranking is doing is bringing back the nightmare that was Halo 3’s Garbage Ranking System that lead to 2nd Accounts, lead people to de-rank so much, that the highly skilled players were able to pubstomp those who weren’t at that Rank yet and making the experience aggravating rather then fun. Nobody has fun being pubstomped by those who have their skills developed while people were trying to Developers theirs. People want to build their skills from the ground up, not be thrown into a match of highly skilled players. I personally think SBMM would achieve this goal of letting people build their skills from the ground up.

2 RespuestasIt’s what makes it competitive

Lol, so a glorified quickplay just call it comp?! 😂 😂
-
Until Destiny 2 gets dedicated servers, having any sort of point/rank loss system is just nonsensical, as it clearly favours DDoSers and in fact, incentivizes it.

1 RespuestaLol 2 quickplay modes

1 RespuestaSome days you are just not with it, that’s why I really push the “Lose 2, take a break” method. It’ll help prevent losing streaks, which seems to be the basis of your argument; losing so much you lose rank.
-
Only reason I would like ladder system would be so the guys that hit 5500 can’t tank their score to fight lower score
-
Nope. You win some, you lose some. If you want to keep going, you gotta climb those ranks.
-
I’ve always liked the idea of a ladder system. If protects you from the randomness of matchmaking a bit. Some blueberry could be put on a team of gods 10 games in a row while a really good player could be matched up against nothing but God’s 10 games in a row. The blueberry will wind up with a higher rank after ten games than the good player in this situation. That doesn’t make sense in my mind. Of course this is just a scenario for a solo player, but still, it doesn’t really make sense to me

Stop crying and get good. It's called comp for a reason
-
But then when Shadowkeep comes out then everyone will be runnin around with not forgotten and then it gets nerfed because every game has a not forgotten and all the kids playin new light gonna be complaining
-
Grinding for a certain rank in comp it's just so bad when it's needed for a quest. You can't control it.

All I know is something needs to be done and not being able to lose rank once you’ve reach it, isn’t a bad solution. The fact that you get 60 Glory for a win and lose 52 for loss needs to be addressed too, IMO. Bumping that down to 40 would be nice too. In the end, I hope something is done because although we’ll be getting new players this fall, if things don’t change then they’ll quit Comp, Crucible or D2 in general as it stands now.
