There's been a lot of debate about whether Fusion Rifles(though mainly the High-Impact archetype, especially Erentil) are "overpowered","too easy to use", "have no real counter", etc. This isn't a post discussing opinions on those statements.
Within these arguments, the point of Fusion Rifles being hitscan or non-hitscan weapons is brought up a lot as well. Many seem to think that Fusions still operate the way they did in D1(where they were definitely projectile-based), while few state the opposite, claiming it was confirmed in an old interview by a Bungie dev.
But no one ever seems to provide a link or clearly state which interview it was done exactly, providing no support for a widely-disagreed on claim.
In the above video(with timestamp for where the question is asked), some folks from Crucible Radio interviewed Jon Weisnewski, Josh Hamrick, and Kevin Yanes, and during that interview, they did indeed confirm that Fusion Rifles were made hitscan during development of the sequel, as well as some reasoning for why.
So now you know. Have a good day/night(whatever time it is wherever you are).
The only Fusion Rifle that technically still has travel time is Jotunn, though that's obviously not your traditional voop.
6 RespuestasHitscan is how a fusion rifle should be. I'm sure each bolt has a scan ray, as Bungie often talk about needing x amount of bolts to hit for a ohk.
