To All OffTopians Who Live In the US:
List which state you live in, your least favorite thing about it, and your most favorite thing about it.
I live in California; my least favorite thing about this place is the... [i]economic hypocrisy[/i] of some places here, such as how San Francisco, home to Silicon Valley and the center of some of the biggest tech companies in the country, is absolutely ridden in poverty— Los Angeles/Hollywood is the exact same— and my most favorite thing about this place is how beautiful the sky and natural landscapes are out here, with all the rolling hills and the nice trees and the happy beaches and the magnificent sunsets and whatnot.

Guess I’m the first representative of South Carolina, guess I’m famous now! Least favorite thing is definitely the artificial politeness people have, don’t even get me STARTED on Chick-fil-A workers here. (Just stereotyping of course) Most favorite thing is, ironically, is the genuine kindness some people have. It’s definitely a refresher when you’re feeling down sometimes.

Pros: Great lakes, University of Michigan, population just high enough to attract bands for concerts, swing state so my vote matters more than like 60% of the country, weed is legal but the government didn't expect it so there is pretty much no regulation right now. Cons: weather, Flint is a shithole and I don't like living near it or going to University in it.

CT here. Likes: I live by a beach so that is nice. There is a good diversity of people here, you can find just about anyone. New York City is only an hour away. We have access to the rest of New England, as well as to Delaware and Virginia and stuff. We have restaurants as good as anywhere, I suppose. But the number one thing I love about this state? The pizza. The city in which I live is literally famous for its style of pizza, more crispy and wood-Fired than the thin doughy slices of NYC. I live walking distance from the best pizza in the world. Dislikes: Anonymity, reputation as a “rich state”, the policies of the corrupt state government, the run-down public school system, taxes that seem a bit higher than they should be, the rising waterline (thank you, global warming!), did I mention lack of funding to public schools? We don’t have too many tourist spots (Mark Twain’s house, the [i]Amistad [/i]slave ship museum, other small things). Main dislike would be the economic separation. There’s a street separating two cities, and on one side of the street you have a bunch of McMansions and on the other side there’s just a row of cramped, run down shacks. It’s like a barrier between two different worlds- it’s amazing how you can live across the street from someone and yet be worlds apart.

My father once went to a few different states(I couldn't tell ya which) and went to places reported the "best in state". He returned the food. Texas homemade is better than anything, and restaurants do it good as well. I could go on and on, and if I thought about it longer I'm sure I could do something better than food lol XD Cons... The growing homeless problem in cities. Our Governor Greg Abbott is working to solve the problem,but there is only so much one can do. Cities in general,they are rude and it is where the liberals gather. And not the smart liberals you might find, but those socialist brats like on the post by Eccho recently. Edit: the illegal immigrants problem is a bit scary however. The crime is increasing and more thugs you don't want around your house are nearby.

California. For the least favorite thing about it: I live in the Central Valley, and there are a LOT of people in this area that complain nonstop about Democratic politicians and how they're all stupid or they don't want to see the Central Valley grow, even at the local level. However, when a business prospect is interested in the Central Valley, these same people complain that the business will turn the Central Valley more blue and then say only negative things about the Central Valley rather than encouraging growth. My least favorite thing is more region based, and it's the locals in the Central Valley who blame politicians for the Central Valley being rural, while they also try to keep it rural at the same time. For my favorite thing about it: California has a very diverse population. Some may see this as a negative (though I do not know why), but I see it as a huge positive. I love exploring and learning about different cultures and how they differ from my hybrid culture (Fil-Am). I love trying out new cuisine and getting to know the history of a person's family in the US, or if they're establishing their own history if they are immigrants (like my parents) or first-gen Americans (like me). In other states, diversity isn't as common, but in California, it's just as common as the taco trucks in this area, and there are at least 20 taco trucks in a 5 mile radius of where I live. Taco trucks are also pretty fire.
