You want an endless grind? Try running a dungeon in FFXIV 600+ times for a weapon. Each run at least 20 minutes each.
Or a Savage boss 600+ times.
THEN COME TALK TO ME ABOUT GRIND. YOU DONT KNOW WHAT GRIND IS.
Edit: good lord guys. 100+ replies?

r/gatekeeping Plus it’s not our fault that you torture yourself by playing a game with an even worse grind than destiny
-
You mean that amazing game that is one of the highest rated games currently? Sure . My fault.
-
I know what Grind is, I have seriosly 3.0 in Gears of War 3. Now that was a grind. Took me over a year and a 1/2 to do, lol
-
Yeah..mthat is.

YOU DONT KNOW WHAT GRIND IS.
Right but here's the thing, why do we need to grind for the sake of grinding. It's like they want to make grinding it's own kind of game genre and I know that some people on these forums honestly seem to think it is, which is ridiculous. I don't play FFXIV, but I do play another MMO. The MMO I play, you have a choice whether you grind or not. Yes when making a new character and build I have to farm armour but there's multiple ways I can do that for most things, not all. You basically make the grind yourself. You can choose to go I want BiS and be able to join these "top tier" teams or you can go screw that I will make my own build, probably do just as well and find a nice chill group to raid or whatever with. Plus some of those "top tier" players are just carry victims lol. It's ultimately a choice (it may be different with final fantasy, I am just talking of the ones I have played and do play). With destiny you don't have a choice. It's simply if you want to be relevant you have to grind. Bungie can't seem to find a middle ground. It's great if you like to grind but not if you don't have the time. Plus there's different types of grinding, some rewarding and some not so much. Also Destiny 2 is not an MMO by any stretch of the imagination. There's no need for the extent of the grind they introduce

Editado por Hatter: 8/9/2019 8:04:59 PMYour last point truth but they're moving that direction. In regards to destiny grind, I'd agree if that were true in this case. You don't have to grind the gear they're suggesting. You'll be fine. You don't have to grind menagerie for the best austringer. I have an explosive payload rangefinder crimils dagger that does the job just fine. For the powerful gear yeah there's some grind there, but nothing in comparison to our standard MMOs. You don't have to be max level to succeed. Btw, what MMO do you play? I HIGHLY recommend FFXIV

Editado por Cudd1eZombi3: 8/9/2019 9:33:55 PMTrue you don't have to grind certain things like menagerie, the general reason people so is they want that "perfect role". But the point I was making is simply the fact that Bungie release anything new and there's some form of grind attached, which in the majority of cases you can't chose to not do. Take the solstice armour. Bungie announced that when armour 2.0 is introduced if you got the armour you will get a 2.0 version. Yes, if you don't want to you don't have to grind it. However and here's the thing, currently we don't even know what will and won't be or what they even intend for armour 2.0 other than eververse armour being ornaments. So for the majority of people who want their guardian's to look how they want there will be that desire to get the armour. Bungie probably counted on this. So now we have a grind, which for the most part isn't too bad I have found. Again though there are aspects of this grind that negatively affect the player base. I just think Bungie need to stop introducing grinding for the simple sake of it. They could have release a shattered throne type dungeon with a wishender style quest in which you forge the armour. As you get green, then blue, it could have even been a couple of dungeon type areas which got more difficult. It didn't have to be a grind. I play elder scrolls online, love it. You definitely have the option to grind or not which I like. Will have to have a look at FFXIV 😊

Ahh ok I see. Makes sense!

How ‘easy’ is FFXIV to get into, for someone new to MMO ? I’ve played Warframe (about 700 hours) and a lot of D1/2. I downloaded the free trial, but haven’t had a chance to try it yet.
-
Oh! It's very nice to newer players. It'll start you off pretty slow and will do a rising crescendo to more stuff. There's so much to do in the game, but they do a great job of staving that stuff off until you're ready for it. I'd definitely give it a shot! I'm on zalera if you ever want to find me in game and ask me questions. Levi Valentine's my character.

Thanks. Sounds good.

Sorry, not trying to take away from you accomplishments, but those are other games not Destiny. One has nothing to do with the other, Destiny is it's own experience and Destiny is what we are all here talking about. And for us who haven't played those other games, where we are playing Destiny, this grind here is our reality and our experience... HERE. I consider myself a fairly hardcore Destiny player, logged in almost every day. I've grinded out events like Faction Rallies, getting all the gear on all three classes as well as all the catalysts in the week it was around, as well as the same for last years solstice, ect... so I get the Destiny grind. Yet after a point in doing the same thing on all three characters, it almost starts to feel like a chore or a job and soon loses its fun factor. I feel if there needs to a balance in grinding a character then maybe they lessen the requirements on the alts... kind of like IB's from before where after you finished all the bounties on the first character things progressed faster for the alts.
-
No you're fine. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. That I can see for alts, maybe. It's interesting to think about.
-
Sounds sort of like reckoning...
-
IDK. Crucible pinnacle weapons is pretty tough to get.

Got the recluse, working on the Luna.

News flash: just because you enjoy beating your face against a brick wall, doesn't mean everyone enjoys beating their face against a brick wall.

I rest my case.

You actually rest my case.

Enjoy it or not, there's a ton of people on here who don't know what a real grind is. This is kind of a grind. But you're right not everybody will like it
-
This post is literally about not liking pointless grind. Then you come in talking bout "you should try out real grind." Lol Not sure what you're on about mate.
-
Yeah people who make these kind of posts I find pointless. "Grind is hard" so? You want this gear given to you? You want a new piece of content just to chase relic gear? Dude I posted my original post because the loudest people who are whining about the grind....aren't used to grinding. Or haven't really grinded for much. Their extent of grinding would be...Luna.
-
People just dont enjoy mindless grinding for a lackluster reward. Me? I like the Luna quest. Even the Mountaintop gave me a challenge. Solstice? Play 30 gambit games win or lose? Do Patrols? Kill 100 mini bosses? Its -blam!-ing pointless! Again, I'm not sure what you're on about.
-
To you it's pointless. To me? Gear that I can roll enhanced perks at a faster rate than ib, and looks good, and is already going to have a 2.0 set... On top of that it looks really good. There's no question. Glamour/transmog is the true end game.
