As some of you may already know there was a scare in Times Square in New York City last night. Where a perfect storm of events took place.
A motorcycle backfired, a sign fell over. And it caused an absolute panic and stampede of tourists, who thought it was a mass shooter.
This is the reason why mass media inflating these statistically insignificant tragedies, is irresponsible. The media has essentially scared people into thinking, that any loud bang in a public space, is now a gunshot.
People got hurt, people were trampled, and a college campus nearby ordered its students to shelter in place, all over a common noise made by a motorcycle.
This is the Land of Confusion that we live in. And it is all thanks to the alarmists and the overly emotional rhetoric being played out by the Democratic Party, and the media.
This has gotten out of control people.

2 RespuestasYou wouldn’t have thought it was funny if you were there when this happened. With the El Paso tragedy still fresh in everyone’s mind, and given America’s gun culture, and its history with mass shootings, it’s only natural for people to be jumpy for awhile. I was in New York during the East Coast blackout of 2003. I was walking down Broadway when the power went out, and it didn’t take long before I saw certain individuals running for their lives thinking that America was under a terrorist attack. I was born the Caribbean, so power outages are very, very common, so I didn’t understand why so many people were losing their shit. I thought it was funny for a few brief seconds, until I remembered what the people of New York went through 9/11, and how traumatic the whole entire event must have been for the whole entire state, let alone the country. So don’t be a douchebag about this. Have some empathy for the people who were there. It’s only natural for the fight or flight instincts to kick in given the current situation, and the current political climate.

1 RespuestaI would still encourage people to be more aware of the world through which they move everyday, mass shootings or no. Situational awareness folks.
-
1 RespuestaHuh, and I thought the people carrying out the mass shootings were responsible for fear of mass shootings. But apparently the media are responsible for the news they cover - which is after all their job. Are the media responsible for fear of War? Or fear of Hurricanes? Or fear of terrorism? What’s your suggestion? The media stop reporting the news?

2 RespuestasI really wish people would turn off the news and social media for just one day to stop letting them run their lives

Or the amount of shootings, and thus how normal/expected they are has skyrocketed, leading to everyone assuming that chances are, in a large public space, just a week or so after several massacres, that a loud bang is a gunshot
-
3 RespuestasOk so if we hear what may be gunfire, we should all stop, freeze and think for a minute whilst looking around, any potential threat would CERTAINLY allow us this courtesy! Makes perfect sense!

20 RespuestasI'm sorry, are you trying to argue that the possibility a motorcycle can backfire means there isn't a gun problem in America? Because that would be the real fake news...

17 RespuestasAny loud bang makes me jump. Any, even in my own house. But my ears are sensitive, so loud bangs hurt, and most certainly spook me a little. Nothing to comment about on the rest of it though, my apathy will be the death of me.

6 RespuestasThat must have been one hell of a backfire. Thankfully there's at least 2 or 3 of us that know the difference between a firearm and an exhaust pipe.
