Is referring to yourself as a God with a capital G considered offensive to religion? Even as a joke?
Explain why or why not in the comments below.

Quite frankly my dear, I don't give a damn. God, god, gawd, whatever or whoever that may be, if they are that powerful and do not have their big boy britches on, then they have not earned the right to hold the title. If their followers are that insecure on his/her/its behalf, then they are idiots and not worthy of being the followers of a worthy God, gawd, god.

I didnt even know this was a thing... Couldn't care less...
perhaps you could join the void...
3 RespuestasEditado por Wafflerminator: 7/1/2019 3:36:43 PMYes. Everything offends religion if you don't follow said religion. Edit: Well it would actually depend on the religion itself. I imagine Catholics are a lot easier to offend than Buddhists (to generalize).

Editado por weirdboy99: 7/2/2019 5:50:47 AMSome would call it offensive or even blasphemy, most would probably not really care that much. It depends on how strong their faith is I guess, the weaker their fate the faster they get offended. I had a coworker that was very religious once, a creationist no less something pretty uncommon in this country. I told him I was Jesus and he did not believe me, I asked him why not, after all all christians are sure he would return one day so how would he know I am not Jesus? He asked me to perform a miracle to which I replied "is your faith really that weak that you require miracles for proof?" Should have seen his face, still he has been respectfull to me ever since even though he knows I am an atheist.

Go for it. I’ll enjoy the show. Just don’t complain when it bites you in the ass. 🍿🐲

Technically, calling yourself "God" instead of "god" would be blasphemous, but most people dont care enough to be offended by it.

I prefer to use the lowercase "g". Capitalized "g" just seems wrong

8 RespuestasReligion isn't a person. It doesn't feel anything. Religious people though are easily offended by simple things like saying Happy Holidays

So, as a complete starting point, we can all agree on this fact, regardless of your religoius orientation: There was nothing Then there was something And then poof, the universe was created Now, based on this certain fact,^ my definition of God with a capital "G" is whatever being, force, or thing that is responsible for creating the universe. All other gods should be referred to with a lowercase "g" (gods will be defined as beings with almost or infinite power) However, this is a subjective definition, meaning that my capital "G" God is not necessarily the same as your capital "G" God. Example: I am a Christian, so, by my definition (which is bolded above), Jesus/the Christian God is capital "G" God, and the Islamic Allah is lowercase "g" god. However, my friend Muhammed is a Muslim, so Allah is capital "G" God and the Christian god is lowercase "g" god. "BuT CoMmOn BlUeBeRRy," you say, "WhAT aBoUT PoLYtHeISm???????" In the case of Polytheism, capital "G" God refers to the Creator God (whichever one built the universe) or at least the leader God. In the case of Greek mythology, i would accept Zues as capital "G" God, but Chaos would be more appropriate as capital "G" God. If you have a special case where a council of gods of equal power and influence, i would refer to the entire council as capital "G" God, but each individual of the council as a lowercase "g" god. Example 2: As i understand the British Government, Parliament is the legislative body that creates the laws. Therefore, Parliament is the entity that creates laws. However, you would not refer to each individual of Parliament as Parliament itself, likwise, the individuals of Parliament cannot create laws on their own. Sane way as a Cpuncil of gods. The Council is capital "G" God, but each individual in the Council is lowercase "g" god. Now you, being one clever sonofagun, you say "WHaT aBOuT AtHeISM?????" In the case of Atheism, i would refer to whatever they call the appearance of the first atoms capital "G" God. Atheists, don't worship their God, they do not accept their God as a supernatural force, amd they do not accept their God as a supreme being. Nonetheless, the force that created the Universe is the athiestic capital "G" God. The athiestic God is not really a god in the traditional sense, an almighty being with infinite power, but technically it is God. (By my definition) Like Tilman G, i think its really more a matter of clarification with a small degree of respect. TL;DR: Capital "G" God refers to the Creator God in any sense. All other gods shpuld be lowercase.

3 RespuestasGhostbusters logic = If someone asks if your a God, you say YES!!

If God exists, I think he/she is an angry, hateful child that has no mercy and doesn't give a damn about aminils and hoomins. Every time God hears a prayer, I think he/she is either laughing or getting mad and punishing us in some way for it.

Depends on your audience. Some people may see it as playful banter. Others might see it as blasphemy.

2 RespuestasGod is a real being there for it is his name like Jesus for example. When you refer you self to a “god” you are just using it as a figure of speech, there for you would not say you are a “god” with a capital “g”.

2 Respuestas
Is referring to yourself as a God with a capital G considered offensive to religion? Even as a joke?
Its either a sign of mental illness....or a bad sense of humor. Anyone who gets offended BY that is lacking a sense of humor and takes themselves too seriously as well. Ashes on the Buddha.

Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

16 RespuestasGod is the Christian god. His name is God. That is why it is capitalized. Any other use of the word should be lower case(unless first word of a sentence).

Considering i am a god at halo... NO .

Personally I lowercase the “g” when referring to a person. If you don’t, I’m good with it, but personally, I lowercase it.

Who gives a -blam!-. Offend everyone, and anyone. Your life shouldn't be dictated by the emotionally fragile, and morale masturbators of the world.
