This simply mean Microsoft has built on spoof software to alter Mac addresses. So if changing this worked. That means you have been flagged by a server either on Xbox live, isp, or Bungie’s end. If above is true it won’t last long and is a bandage to an issue at Microsoft’s end per latest news. I would never go looking for a way to change this as I know what the address really means and the fact the are physically imprinted on the chip. Oh the line where I state, “Unless your running a spoof program.” Guess what that select alternate MAC address is, a built in spoof program. Also that is there for cases in which your Xbox needs to appear as your modem MAC address. So modems can’t handle gaming well. Your routers feature this as well. Nothing new except if you do this it can cause some other issues. This was implemented as there was a time when many gamers where spoofing MAC as modem to help gaming issues in the past long ago. Like the PS3 and Xbox 360 days.

Still works I have my xbox connected to the modem on a completely separate fiber network specifically for gaming. The spoof MAC only comes into play with a router. Been doing this since the xbox one dropped. Haven't ported one time no connection issues. This is the alternative to porting.
