It amazes me how so many young gamers nowadays are content with basically being resold content from Destiny 1 (assuming they played D1 to begin with).
While positivity can be a good thing, blind positivity simply gives a free pass to those who would have you believe that gamers are getting their money's worth in recycled content.
I fear too many young gamers can't tell the difference between positivity and blind positivity.

You think? I think it's the opposite. Young gamers are almost too entitled and constantly demand more and more. Now, definitely think game quality can improve, but I think it's important to look at the audience.
-
No, it's the streamers (who play games 8+ hours a day instead of getting real jobs) and tryhard no-life gamers who blow through content and demand more. Young gamers are entitled but they also exhibit signs of blind positivity.
-
From what I see, the streamers actually like the game. (What they do technically is a real job. You can earn a pretty good living off streaming. I looked and considered it/considering it). No lifers...that I can see. I think the kids are at fault too though. They just...want. for example, for things you have to grind for, they would be on the side screaming Nerf the grind. These would be part of the group who said the Ace grind was too hard. This upcoming generation has a ton of smart people in it, but man the entitlement...
-
Streaming isn't a job when your income comes from subs and donos from gullible kids.
-
It is when it comes from bigger companies. That's how alot of them make their money
-
Those endorsements are just that: endorsements. It is NOT a salary (and even if it were, it's a small amount for most streamers who are not SHROUD or NINJA).
-
Editado por Hatter: 6/9/2019 5:09:01 PMIt's sponsorship from a lot of companies too. Not just endorsements. Dude I chatted with a streamer on how he makes his income streaming. He streams switch/Nintendo games. I've gotten my info straight from one of them. It's not millions, it's more around a normal income. There's a lot more than you think at work here.
-
You're fooling yourself if you think people can make a fulltime living as a streamer.
-
I...was literally at c2e2, talking directly with a streamer about this. He gave me the full breakdown of it. Seriously, you can have your opinion but facts are facts. No, YOU think you can't make it as a streamer. From what I've seen it's hard, but doable. It's ok to hate though. I'm not judging. But the facts are there.
-
For every "streamer" you see at a convention, I can show you 100 more on Twitter that are physically exhausted, depressed, and financially destitute. Keep hyping streaming all you want. I don't care if all these kids end up homeless. We're doing away with Social Security in a few decades anyway.
-
Oh yeah. And I can say the same for engineering. Design. Pharmacy. What's your point? Of course it's harder to get into streaming, but to discount it is... You know what, never mind. I agree to disagree on this. Oh and on the social security: this is why we invest. I'm 28 now, very early in my investments, but this is why we think proactively to avoid being stuck.
-
Editado por omegacon4: 6/10/2019 3:32:04 AMNo, it's not harder to get into streaming. Any kid with a console and internet connection can call themselves a streamer. My point is that streaming is not a real job with a real salary, benefits, retirement plan, etc. Jobs in engineering, design, and even pharmacy give all that and more. it's good that you're investing now while you're so young. If you decide to stupidly become a full time streamer, you'll be eating into your investments in no time flat.
-
Editado por Hatter: 6/10/2019 4:29:16 AMI was told the same thing about the work I do now. And...God is good ;).

You're 28. You have no idea what it means when a financial emergency strikes and you have nothing left to get you through the night, let alone a family and dependents. But that's right. The youth of today only believe in YOLO. No wonder suicide rates have gone up among young people. They have no contingency plans in place when their streaming goes nowhere. I'm laughing at all these fulltime streamers with less than 50 viewers talking about how they're going to strike it rich. Let me know when you become a fulltime streamer so I can laugh at you as well.
-
Excuse me? For someone your age you are awfully presumptuous. You know absolutely nothing of my past, and the things my family has gone through. Do not speak as if you do. It's by God's grace I am where I am. From what I hear also, there's a bitterness I'm sensing with today's generation. I invite you to think otherwise and different. Some of those old style thoughts you have? They're dying out. It's becoming old. There are new ways of doing things, and suicide rates aren't going up because of streamers not making it. There is a lot at play that from what I understand after reading your words...you don't. You have no idea the things we or people younger than us have to deal with, the things we've had to go through so far. I invite you to investigate further the things the younger generations have had to go through or see the world.
-
We know exactly what the younger generation (Millennials, Z, etc.) are focused on: self-entitlement and instant gratification with the focus on "me, myself, and I". It's laughable how many young people have died while trying to take that "perfect selfie" (duckface smile optional). So you and they can keep on YOLO believing that streaming full time is a viable career when the metrics show that it isn't. We older gamers find it amusing to see Twitter posts where all these streamers complain that they can't get any traction with followers, subscribers, donators, sponsors, etc. and now have to turn to ASMR as a last resort (skimpy clothing optional). And if you and the younger generation think you know what it means to "work hard", think again. You have no idea what hard work truly entails. Then again, you're too busy thinking that playing video games fulltime is a real job (which it isn't).
-
Editado por Hatter: 6/10/2019 2:24:19 PMI'm usually respectful to my elders, but I won't deal with this level of straight up over generalization of people. You know very little about our generation, and from what I see a bit of a hard head. And I can tell that. I can tell you only believe what you "think" you know. You have absolutely no clue what some of us are trying to do out here in the world, do you? Work hard? I guess at my age I can say I'm a millennial. By God's grace I have my masters and a great career job. I work in technology. I also do things to teach lower income children, the generation under me, that there are cool jobs out there and they can make it. I show them my work. And I even relate video games to it. What the hell do you do? And people of my generation? Alot of us are changing the world. Making new jobs that you "old school" folks have never even heard of. Jobs you deem as worthless. You're insanely judgemental and are making a blanket generalization of all us. Of course there are some odd eggs in our generation, and I can almost 100% guarantee same with your generation. If you're the generation before us, thanks. We have to fix your mistakes. And we have to think about the future much more than you because we will be here and you won't. We have to get past the sheer racism the generation before me had to deal with. We have grown up hearing the words of "you can do it all, you can change the world" only to find out that the world isn't easily changeable. Y'all screwed it up. Yolo? That was a damn phase for partyers. For everything else in life, you really do only live once. Enjoy life, make the most of it, do great things for people and with people, and thank God along the way. Get over it, that's staying. I grew up with video games from Nintendo all the way to PS4. I've lived in the golden era of Mario and final fantasy. I'm a strong rpg player. I'm happy that I have. I've also lived through the recession and 2 wars. I thank the Lord nothing else has happened yet, but it's your generation that is close to making that ww3 happen. So before you go off judging our generation and what we do check yourself. Your way is old, and much of it needs to change. We're not perfect no, but don't go off judging us and think you guys are. We have so much to deal with and fix because of you. Thanks. I'm done. Bye.

Editado por omegacon4: 6/10/2019 2:36:34 PMIt's both hilarious and sad how the younger generation (Millennials, Z, etc.) think they know it all (many who claim to be so wise beyond their years that they still live at home with their parents). Hilarious because of events like "FYRE FESTIVAL" which only showcase what would happen to the world if the younger generation were really left in charge of the world (thank God they aren't). Watching all those senseless younger people drink themselves into oblivion in a remote location after paying hundreds of dollars to delusionally hang out with their self-professed Instagram idols (who didn't even bother to show up) was simply too funny. Sad because all these young people still think they have all the answers when the truth is they have no idea what the question even is. Have fun being a full time streamer. If you care to disclose your Twitter address, I promise to tune in when you start complaining about how streaming fulltime isn't really all that you thought it would be. I might even watch your stream when you delve into ASMR.... Of course, I won't pay you anything. I won't sub to you or donate. Why would I? I can get all your entertainment for FREE....
-
No what's sad is watching you try to justify your hate for a generation. Sorry not sorry dude. I already stream for charity and I choose to pursue it as a career I'll do so. You can stay in you hate bubble 😂 I'm not dealing with that. Do you not have a job? Old timer haters like you must want to see the world burn or something. Hey, keep your hate. We'll be here a lot longer than you. We'll see how it goes 😁. Peace old timer. Hope you find happiness in your life so much that you don't have to spread your hate for our generation on the forums.
-
Hate? Hardly. Who am I to stand in the way of the younger generation destroying their lives and futures? Like I said, I find it both hilarious and sad to watch at the same time.
-
Yup. Sure.
-
Just because they bring back an old location doesn’t mean they’re recycling. Isn’t going to be double the size than D1? Plus bringing it back ties the lore together and explains more
-
This all day.
-
I would be okay with recycled content if it was as a side, a bonus. You know, recycled + something new.
-
meanwhile on these forums its blind negativity
