In the Chick-fil-A drive thru. So you know how it splits into 2 lanes (well, some of them do)? This minivan driving moron would not choose a lane and this was after sitting in line for 20 minutes already.
I had enough. I got out and walked up and knocked on her window, in the damn rain. She cracks it a tad and gives me the eye and I politely told her to please pick a lane, we are all tired of waiting, just like her.
She started to get uppity and I shushed her. "Ma'am, I have been polite. Either be polite and do the right thing or I will get my tow strap out and drag this worthless scrapheap out of the drive thru and make everyone here happy. Have a lovely day."
I somehow stayed calm and I think that scared the piss out of her more then if I had ranted and raved like I wanted to. I would not have followed through on my threat, at least I don't think I would have, but I was pissed off enough that I wanted to.
It really should not be that hard to have respect and a bit of empathy for others. Was I an asshole? Yes, yes I was. We all have a breaking point and that was mine. I am not proud of it, but I am proud of the fact that I did not cuss, I did not raise my voice and I approached it in a calm manner to begin with, though yes, I should have just let it go, but hell, my name damn sure isn't Elsa!

3 RespuestasI've always avoided drive throughs by default. I hate waiting in lines, especially when it's in my car and I can't leave quickly in case of emergency, etc. Its also faster to just order inside from my experience. No interest in getting stabbed because some dude had the bright idea to go the entire day without eating (a good way to get irritable) then binge on chicken nuggets. Good on ya for not going to blows over fried chicken!

You used your anger to the level necessary to deal with the scenario. Also, I've found that speaking threatening words in a deadly serious tone is way more effective at scaring people and making them back off then just screaming at them. I also respect your determination to walk out of your car and put up with the rain in order to deal with the problem and help all the other people behind you.

3 RespuestasPeople get crazy around fast food drive thru's. I almost got ran over walking on a crosswalk by some fool in a hurry to get to McDonald's.

3 RespuestasI flipped off, honked my horn, and yelled "Back of the -blam!-ing line!"(my windows were down but I bet she read my lips) at some old white lady in a Range Rover that cut in front of me at an In-N-Out drive thru once

3 RespuestasMoral of the story: Never stand between Xombie and a chicken sandwich. Otherwise he might ask you politely to move and wish you a lovely day.

2 RespuestasSo... you asked a lady to move. She was rude to you. And you responded rudely to her? What do you feel bad about?

1 RespuestaI smiled reading this. You did good op. Nothing to be ashamed about. People, whether they like it or not, need to hear this every now and then.

1 Respuesta
this was after sitting in line for 20 minutes already.
I'd have gone elsewhere after 10. I am normally patient, but if the lines are that crazy I won't waste my time. The problem with those double lane things is that too often people refuse to alternate. The outside lane person pulls ups and won't let the inside lane through. Those type of drive thrus - not a fan.
