Well it’s almost been a week since it released and it’s still not on the top 5 kinetic weapons used in the crucible. More people use Chaperone or Ace of Spades. Why would it be like that if it’s an”PvP weapon”?
The Ikelos handcannon is on the top 5 energy weapons list. It gets used more than the thorn.
Guardian.gg
Bungie has talked about thorn twice now (season 6 ViDoc, TWAB from last Thursday) and neither time did they mention it was a “PVP weapon”.
Are you sure it’s a “PVP weapon”?
I have seen people using it to grind strikes though. Maybe it’s actually a “strikes weapon”.

1 RespuestaIts a pvp weapon because Bungie force you to pvp to get it

22 RespuestasEditado por Alpha_1Nine: 3/19/2019 7:31:01 PMIkelos is a void 180 Hc, most people are using it to complete the thorn's PvP part of the quest, Obviously is been used a lot this past week. Smh it's amazing how much lack of thought goes into some of the ranting posts on these forums
-
5 RespuestasI would imagine the usage if the Ikelos hc is because of the step in the Thorn quest line requiring Void or HC kills; as a 180 Void hc, it’s a no brained to use to progress that step.

3 RespuestasEditado por Erijian: 3/20/2019 9:02:28 PMPeople use Ikelos HC to grind out Thorn, then use Thorn for a few games before vaulting it and returning to their Luna's Howl or Bought Forgotten.

5 RespuestasYepp we remember that time, then they changed it because of the cry babies so now everyone has it for PvP, congrats, enjoy, your welcome.....

3 RespuestasIt was 2 body shots and die to dot in d1 and everyone cried for months about it D2 it's 2 head and 1 body In d2 there are better guns What hand cannon is a pve weapon anyway ? Even golden gun is barely a pve weapon
-
1 RespuestaEditado por ScottF 2112: 3/20/2019 7:46:25 PMIt was a top PVP weapon early on in D1, but wasn't great in D1 PVP (or really at all) post nerf. I think it is really a "nostalgia" weapon at this point, not so much a PVP or PVE weapon. OG players still have flashbacks to dying after being shot twice from long range with pre-nerf Thorn. I think Bungie did a great job of using some of the old Thorn quest elements, but making it easier for people who aren't into PVP. Once you take away the 'lose points' mechanic, you have a pretty accessible weapon for anyone who wants to put in the time.

1 RespuestaThe reason Ikelos is in the top 5 is that it's a void hand cannon which is the most efficient way to make progress in the Crucible kills step of the Thorn quest.
-
2 RespuestasBe careful dude, that amount of salt can be lethal.
-
4 RespuestasIkelos is top because everyone used it to get Thorn, and all the PvE players instantly left Crucible as soon as they got it. The stats are skewed right now because of this and other quests, give it a month.
-
3 RespuestasI mean, I'm not saying it necessarily is a PvP weapon, to me it sounds like the new perk has good pve utility, but the evidence you just provided - particularly the high use of Ikelos - just indicates that it's not that popular YET... Because a lot of us are still working towards it.
-
I’ve never been so disappointed with an exotic hand cannon. I used it for the first time yesterday. As for all exotic hand cannons I would say its near the bottom of the list for PvP and PvE. Not that great of damage, its perk is low damage, slow reload. Malfeasance is 100 times better.
-
It needs a buff in PvP but anything works in PvE so who cares?
-
10 RespuestasEditado por GrundleBeans: 3/19/2019 10:16:15 PMThat has nothing to do with whether it's a pvp weapon or not and everything to do with there being a handful of better options that already exist. Take out Luna and NF and it would be guaranteed to be top 5. Plus you're forgetting not everybody has it yet and you said yourself it's been barely a week. Luna's Howl didn't become #1 in less than a week either.
Are you sure it’s a “PVP weapon”?
Yes, the lore has always said it was a gun made specifically for killing guardians.
I have seen people using it to grind strikes though. Maybe it’s actually a “strikes weapon”.
And people could use rocks and sticks to kill. Doesn't mean they're the best or brightest and doesn't mean rocks and sticks are best for that purpose.

23 RespuestasEditado por Moof Juice: 3/19/2019 5:44:40 PMWell, the perks are optimal for PvP, and have little to no value in PvE. The thorn quest is relatively long and requires a relatively decent light level to obtain, so useage is probably still pretty low compared to those weapons you mentioned that have been around for how long? Of course ikelos is on the top 5, ITS THE MOST COMMON VOID HAND CANNON and everybody is using it TO GET THORN And finally it has a high skill floor... so poor players won’t use it as much as an easier weapon because they will have a hard time with it
-
1 Respuestaits prob not on top 5 list cause only 10% of the player base has the thorn. According to light.gg more ppl have anarchy than thorn
-
2 RespuestasIt is literally a weapon made to kill Guardians
-
8 RespuestasAlso that isn't what makes a PvP weapon thorn by every fiber of its being is PvP do you even know it's lore its original glory etc
-
Because the last step is doing its job and filtering out trash
-
It's both.
-
4 RespuestasHad to grind for it in PvP, hate to state the obvious , but that usually implies a weapon meant for PvP... just saying.
-
19 Respuestas
The Ikelos handcannon is on the top 5 energy weapons list. It gets used more than thorn.
Maybe because its the best gun to use to get thorn?
-
8 RespuestasThorn is not good in this game, at least on console. Now as a 150, it may have a spot in PvE, but it’s competing with Midnight Coup for that spot....yeah, good luck to thorn on that one.
-
15 RespuestasIt was before, now maybe it's not. Who cares? People are using the Ikelos HC to GET Thorn as there are not many void HC choices.
-
Editado por Freak: 3/20/2019 12:58:55 AMI could argue the non use of the weapon proves it is a crucible weapon. Here’s why and the answer is simple. 140’s and 150 HC are not in a good place on console. 180’s rule on Console. Using 140/150 automatically puts you at a disadvantage against the ease of use of a 180. And half of those 180’s have a faster ttk. So until Bungie either buffs 140/150’s or tweaks 180’s, 180’s are going to continue to dominate on Console. That and it’s a Guardian Killer...

12 RespuestasA guardian killer, is it not?
