I know we are getting demolished soon as a sub forum so I figured I'd maybe try to toss a thread out there. All 6 comments we'll see here aside.. fck it.
I honestly think I hate the majority of the online Smash Bros community. Ultimate is loaded with issues but these fanboys don't wanna hear it. You can't bitch about anything apparently because every single loss is on you and your failures.. apparently.
I go online and just pretty much stay irritated the entire time, save for a good few matches every now and again.
Gimmicky ass players who spam all sorts of bullshit and then tell you to learn the counter instead of them learning combos/ the game, input lag on EVERYTHING you do (oh, you tried to air dodge a Bowser kick? Naw, you must've not pressed the button hard enough.. minus one stock for you).. god.
Input lag is my main problem, aside from fckboy tactics like ledgeguarding with moves like Ness's charging down+A over and over again.
How does the community take this game so seriously when half the time you try a tilt attack or you try to shield, your character does absolutely nothing? At ANY time, even with a perfect connection and NO lag on both ends? How does that lend itself to a balanced game?
No input lag in Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Marvel vs Capcom, Dead Or Alive, Soul Caliber.. honestly all things considered Smash Ultimate is currently a joke imo.
Thoughts? Even if just to tell me I'm being a bitch.
Edit -
or when you try to recover and do it a fraction of a second too late even though you pressed the button at the perfect time.
or when your hitbox for a particular move allows you to damage your opponent but later in the same exact scenario your opponents hitbox overtakes yours? Because fck practicing combos and hoping for consistency.
or when you fight an Isabelle player and they literally only use shorthop neutral air, down+B, and fishing rod (which is literally every Isabelle player).
Honestly I feel like most players barely even bother with the A button.

13 RespuestasGood, I needed this.
SIMON AND RICHTER CAN GO F*** THEMSELVES WITH THEIR STUPID SIDE SPECIAL SPAM BOOMERANG CRAP THAT TRAVELS THE ENTIRE STAGE!!!! THAT STUPID NESS AND ISABELLE FIGHT IN THE WORLD OF LIGHT CAMPAIGN CAN ALSO DIE IN A HOLE!! NESS’S STUPID COMBO SPAM PLUS ISABELLE’S FISHING ROD AND ROCKET SHOULD JUST STOP!!! Oh, and DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON GIGA BOWSER! THAT BOSS CAN DIE IN A PIT OF FIRE IN THE SEVENTH CIRCLE OF HELL!!! WHY DOES SHIEK S.D. SO OFTEN NOW??!! IT’S STUPID HOW HALF MY DEATHS ARE BECAUSE I’M TRYING TO RECOVER OR USE MY FINAL SMASH!!!
*clears throat* Sorry you had to see that. It felt good to get that out of my system. In all truth, though, the World of Light story for Ultimate is one of the most rage-inducing campaigns I have played in a while. I’m no slouch at the game (I don’t think I’m a noob anymore if I’ve won a duel against a level 9 computer on Final Destination, no items), but it seems like every computer is at least level 6 or 7, which does not make for a fun time in the one-on-two or one-on-three fights.

2 RespuestasThat input lag thing isn't true. When I played soulcalibur 5 there was an annoying amount of input lag, though it wasn't as bad I agree on all other points. Online is shit and it isn't made any better by all the cancerous randoms that don't know how to do anything but press 1 button. All the special-camping scrubs playing castlevania characters are rētarded. I only ever touch the game when my friends want to play. It isn't fun otherwise

I mostly play smash offline with friends, and if I'm playing online, I'm either playing with friends out of state or playing with some people in a small twitch stream. I tend to enjoy it better that way (although sometimes lag is a pretty massive issue).

29 RespuestasWell, I do hate to be obnoxious, but I’m gonna have to side with the “learn to counter” folk on this one. Admittedly, I haven’t played much online, so I can’t say much on the inpute lag, but I have felt your frustriation with spam, with Ganondorf’s jamblasted Smash attacks. When my brother plays as Ganon that’s all he does. It was irritating at first, but I never gave in and said “I would’ve won without your Smash attacks”. I just learned how to play around them. Ranged attacks, dodges, blocks, etc. Whether someone’s playing fair or not, if you want to get better you can’t look for things to blame your loss on. Spamming PK Fire? Learn the timing and either dodge, or reflect, etc.. Saying “PK Fire is op” just encourages you to blame the game, rather than try to improve. For instance, back when For Honor came out I played Nobushi, and my brother always blamed his death on my poison. Writing his loss up to a gimmick, rather than any lack of skill. And he never beat me. Not even when I switched characters. Instead, he always just blamed his loss on [x] or [y]. That mindset just doesn’t help you improve. I always blame every death, fighting games or otherwise, on myself, unless there’s a clear glitch like phasing into a wall. And in doing so, I motivate myself to get better. Nothing is op. Nothing is cheap. Everything has a counter. Except Nine the Phantom. -.-

7 Respuestas
Thoughts? Even if just to tell me I'm being a bitch.
You're being a bit of a bitch. But only a bit. The scrub mentality of "They're just spamming!" doesn't fly. Shit might seem annoying, but you just gotta adapt and deal with it. To me, this is one of the most enjoyable things about fighting games and this problem solving is what got me into the genre. Input lag is a thing, though. It exists in every game, and it was particularly bad in the PS4 version of TEKKEN 7 (so much so that players stopped being Mishima mains in tournaments because it threw off their electrics). What I will say, though, is that nobody should take fighting games seriously when playing online. There's barely any merit in it. The scene don't take it seriously, and neither should you.
