While the rant is funny, from a lore perspective it all makes sense. The Nine are the ones who let Skolas out, and everything else was a direct result of Oryx invading. None of what was mentioned was a result of her leadership. In fact we'd all be dead many times over if it wasnt for her. She intercepted the House of Wolves and became their kell which kept them out of the battle. If theyd of shown up we'd have lost. She assisted us in finding and getting into the black garden. She's also the one who sacrificed her people to destroy Oryx's fleet and create an opening for us to strike back. Oryx took Riven and when we killed Oryx his sister Savathun took control of Riven who corrupted Uldren and ultimately Savathun put the curse on the city with Riven's power. All this mess is because of Oryx. But WE are the cause of Oryx coming here. WE pissed off a hive god by killing his son Crota, a lesser hive god. So she losses her fleet, her brother, her people, and her city because WE went and pissed off a literal god. So i think she's a little justified in being pissed at us questioning her leadership skill after we basically caused all this

  • You know. If savathun actually controlled riven. She could of forced riven to just open the city and give her the secret of the awoken home universe.

In the hive’s sword logic, war and death breed power. Savathun created an endless feedback loop for her to continue to grow in strength hence the curse cycles

  • She does say "it's all part of the plan" that statement , after her people were killed told me everything I needed to know about the queen . Plus she refers to Cayde and all my characters as "it" , well this "it" can't wait to kill that power hungry -blam!-..........with my sword which she gave me so I can look into those cold eyes as I drain the last bit of life out of her........🖖
Just before she dies I will tell her "see you in your throne room next cause remember I'm a God killer"
• Her leadership got her people killed by Oryx. She didn't need to interfere, Oryx's weapon took his fleet out, not Mara. Mara could have gone in with her flagship and assaulted him alone with her techeuns and had the same effect. She wanted power she didn't deserve or take using her own power. She jumped in and used her people as a shield under the guise of helping us. We killed Crota because nobody else would. Once he'd wiped us out who do you think would be next? The awoken of the reef. Besides, Mara claims to be working towards a future that benefits us, she claims to want to help, would she have intervened if Crota had been restored? She gave Skolas to the Nine knowing full well that they're unpredictable, they let him loose on her people, we saved them from their own mistake. They saved us by capturing him but Mara in her greed kept him as a slave. We saved ourselves when nobody else could. We saved the awoken and returned the favour they gave us by stopping the house of Wolves. The queen jumped in the Taken war with the intent of stealing power she had no right to, not to help us. She kept Riven despite Eris, an authority on the matter of Ahamkara, pleaded with her to destroy them on sight for the sake of her people. Mara kept Riven despite that because she wanted to abuse the power of an Ahamkara, and so she did. She created the wishing wall to stop the consequences of her tampering with reality and trapped Riven, it's no wonder Riven became hostile to the Awoken, that is due to Mara. The heart of the black garden? That wasn't only helping us, it was helping us to wipe out a threat to EVERYONE. Again, we were the only ones who could stop that threat. It's like the spider saying we owe him, for what? He gave us information on our targets who were his targets as well. We don't owe him shit, that was a common goal. He had information, we had firepower and motivation. Got a bit sidetracked but it's all the same. Everything Mara has done is seemingly for herself. She might have been planning to help us the entire time, that doesn't excuse the way she treats us, the ones who do ALL of the heavy lifting and continue to fight HER fight. Why? Nobody. Else. Can.

Actually, both points in which the Awoken intervened "for the sake of the City" was very opportunistic for the Awoken. The Wolves were gathered in a single place as they prepared to make the trek to Eath to join up with the other Houses at Twilight Gap. Major cluster formations like that is where the Harbingers shine, which allowed the Awoken to effectively deploy their superweapon, shattering House Wolf in a single attack. Considering the Awoken have been dealing with Wolf attacks for some time up until this point, it would be absolute folly for them not to jump on this opportunity to eliminate a majority of the Wolves' hierarchical structure. As for the Awoken's part in the Taken Wars, their sacrifice was to get Mara into Oryx's Throne inconspicuously. There were other ways to provoke him into activating the outward expansion of his Throne World as well as warning the Vanguard of Oryx's true threat in Sol. Eris is held in high regard by Ikora Rey, she would've listened to what she had to report. As for the battle itself, the Vanguard scaled the power of the Dreadnaught by the energy it emitted, not by the casualties racked up in the fight. The Awoken could've staged a mock interaction, with only the intention of drawing out Oryx's Death Impulse and immediately evacuating all combatants from the field once he had done so, having been properly informed of the battle they were walking into. Those ships are fast enough, given a proper distance, to escape Oryx's attack. Uldren is proof of that. Also, Mara's mistreatment of Riven and and neglect of responsibilities towards her people, nation, and own brother are what caused the events in Forsaken. And you can't blame the Guardians for the arrival of Oryx due to the fact that they killed Crota. He was a Blight on both the system and reality itself. Coexistence with him was non negociable. Mara is a shadow ruler. Her specialty is making you thank her for the services you preform for her, as if she's done you a great deed. Don't be fooled by her showmanship, everything she does is to further her own interests.

  • Blame the traveler. It remains silent still, yet it was reawoken? Or a lack of cohesion in storytelling. Whatever. It's all fractal and disjointed with little main narrative driving the progression. So many "why's" and instead of delving it just swaps focuses.

  • How is she not responsible for Skolas? She dropped a dangerous criminal off on their door step and said, "He's your responsibility now," and then -blam!-ed off without saying anything or even asking if they'd want him. The Nine probably thought it'd be impolite to kill him, or they just didn't want to, so they gave him a ship and a gun and told him to -blam!- off rather than leaving him to rot.

  • Nope. We defended ourselves against Crota. He was the aggressor so that is not our fault. We are defending her city not the other way around. We have a right to ask her motives when we are doing HER dirty work. I also find it hard to believe after kicking Oryx's teeth in we would have lost that fight.
