If you want a balanced Crucible experience, consider these changes

I suspect the Destiny PvP community at large may disagree, but the reason Destiny crucible is so bad comes down to the fact that not everyone has access to the same weapons, and that those weapons can vary by a significant amount due to random perks. Matchmaking doesn't help, but I don't think it's even close to the biggest problem facing PvP. If you want a balanced, competitive, skill-dependent PvP experience then gear must be standardized. Create PvP-only weapons with fixed stats, and a standard set of selectable perks to allow some customization available to all players. Pinnacle weapons need to go away. Instead, award unique skins and shaders for existing PvP gear. Exotic weapons should not be allowed in PvP. Finally, supers need a drastic revisit in PvP. Most last too long, and/or make the user too difficult to kill. Does it feel great as it is? Well, for the person/team using it. But if one team is already performing better than the other team, they get supers sooner and more often, giving them further advantage and widening the gap even more. There needs to be more opportunity for counter-play in any kind of competitive experience. Some class abilities would need a re-tuning as well. It all comes down to that the way things are only widens skill gaps. I find it far more interesting when the difference between players is only their skill, and not a god-roll weapon that some may never obtain, or a "pinnacle" weapon that you must already be moderately skilled to obtain in the first place. This reminds me of the dreaded "team-shooting" ruining everyone's fun. However, in a team-based PvP shooter, the whole point is to shoot the enemy as a team. The problem was, at the beginning, it was too hard for a single person to face-roll the entire enemy team if they were caught out away from their own team. It feels a bit like too much of the Destiny PvP community wants to be as powerful vs Guardians as Guardians are vs PvE enemies. Thing is, no one wants to be your trash mob. Regardless of what I want, I believe Destiny has gone too far to ever get to a balanced experience. Too much work would be needed, and it's too late at this point to draw in enough new players to replace the ones that would leave if such changes were made. I think, in the end, that Destiny PvP fits a very specific niche that relies on the fact that it's an unbalanced mess that strongly favors the extremely dedicated, not just for their experience and skill but by literally rewarding them mechanical advantages. I for one will continue to loosely tolerate Crucible, but I'm afraid I'll never love it.
