I am, unfortunately, very bad at giving people advice on fighting games, however, I can recommend one with a great tutorial.
Skullgirls is the game that helped me get into the genre. Best tutorial I’ve ever seen in a fighter, if a bit frustrating.

What’s the platform for it?

Xbox 360 (backwards compatible), PS3, PS4, PC, and it’s coming to Switch.

Nice. I’ll have to look into that. Injustice 2’s is pretty intense. When I finished the first three parts of an ungoldly number of them I got a rare achievement... Really digesting the info is rough. But I’m having fun figuring it out.

That’s what I like about Skullgirls, is it doesn’t just say “here’s a combo, figure it out”, but it’ll actually take you step by step, and explain how it works. Some of its systems are, of course, specific to Skullgirls, but most of the things it teaches you apply to all fighting games. Anyway, if you have any specific questions, I can probably answer them, but it looks like Psyntifik’s got you covered. He’s a bit better at teaching this than I am. He’s helped me learn a bunch too.

Appreciate it. Having fun with Injustice right now, but it seems to be lighting a fire. If that catches I’ll probably be expanding the old horizons. Shame I wasn’t looking for it during the sale... I’m sure the 360 version is reasonably priced though.

I’m not a fan of Netherrealm’s fighting games myself. They only register 4 directional inputs, and it drives me insane. Regardless, I hope you enjoy. Fighting games are probably my second favorite genre. Something about them is just so fun! The 360/PS3 version is $10, with 5 $5 character DLC. The other versions are $25, include all DLC, and a few other extra features.

That’s the not bad price I was looking for. I’m a DC guy, so I was brought in by the story as opposed to the gameplay. They screw up with so many movies when this is just looking them in the face... it’s sad. First Injustice was better in that regard. But the second is still enjoyable.

I almost picked up Injustice for the same reason.. Then they didn’t have Raven. So, nah. I was wanting to kill people with demon magic. But, yeah, Lab Zero’s an indie dev, so their games aren’t too expensive. That just makes Skullgirls all the more impressive, though—still my favorite fighter to date!

We got to keep Green Lantern, he’s my favorite, but they changed his move set. So I had to move on. My second in Injustice 1 was Batgirl, she was a blast, but she’s gone now too. Now Supergirl has taken over my top spot. She’s got a good mix of attacks, plays very different from Superman (which I was afraid would not be the case), and is a lot of fun to use.

I never played either, but Teen Titans is what I grew up with, and Raven was always my favorite character when I was younger. I heard she was in the first, so I was hoping she’d be in the second. There’s just something really cool, if a bit edgy, about shadow magic.
