Just to be clear, I want to understand why everyone thinks Uldren would be the Hunter Vanguard?
Don’t get me wrong, I understand completely what the terms of Cayde’s Dare: “You are a Hunter who killed me, therefore you are the Vanguard.”
I see some big problems with Uldren becoming Vanguard.
1). By the Player killing Uldren, we gained all rights to Cayde’s Will. The Dare was tied to this very Will, meaning that Uldren should’ve lost any rights to the Vanguard.
2). The terms of the Dare was that you had to be a Hunter who killed Cayde. There is already a problem with this: Uldren wasn’t a Hunter when he killed Cayde. Let alone a Guardian.
3). Do you people honestly think it’s ok to stick a guy who just wakes up from being dead with no memory of the world or experiences and put them into a leadership role? Putting Uldren into the position of Vanguard would basically be the same as putting a toddler into the position of General. Let’s not forget that he murdered a well respected Hunter and friend of many. Key word here is “Hunter.” As in the Class that is known to hold grudges and takes death among their ranks far more seriously than the others.

Editado por Ferus Lux: 11/29/2018 9:33:20 PMFor number 2, the vanguard dare doesn't work that way and this is Caydes dare. Cayde did not kill Andal to become a Vanguard. The dare stops after Cayde, unless Uldren proclaims the same dare or a different one. Also, the dare doesn't specify WHEN someone needs to be a guardian to have done it. What is factual is: Uldren killed him. He is now a Guardian. Therefore, he is a guardian that killed Cayde. Sounds exactly like a funny shenanigan Cayde would pull too. Also, Cayde said for the Guardian that killed him which, looking at it now is clearly foreshadowing Uldren being a guardian because it is a story detail. when you also factor in what Zavala says about the dare or trial still being in effect and that the Vanguard will not elect a new hunter Vanguard until it is done. Otherwise, what would the significance of bringing Uldren back be? It is the ultimate irony if it does happen. Uldren (unknowingly) becoming what he hates and Cayde having the last laugh and his dare becoming Uldrens destiny.

Elsie bray is the hunter vanguard now
-
-
But she won’t be able to explain why she can’t explain any of the missions you go on for her

Editado por zxionisus: 11/29/2018 2:45:37 PMIt turns out that Harry Potter is actually the hunter vanguard now, because he beat Malfoy and Malfoy is the one who disarmed Cayde, not Uldren.

Petra could have shot uldren Just saying
-
It’s pretty much been established that we both pulled the trigger.
-
We could have purposely missed because we, as of right now in the overarching story, are still clinging onto what the light means. Petra pulled it because she was kinda responsible that uldren was even in any position to do all that he did. Like sure we/I shot but we have no way of telling if we/I hit or purposely missed. And I don't see The Guardian being swayed so quickly to a darker path. Yes cayde meant a lot and he was great and shall never be forgotten, but at the same time cayde prepared recordings for when he would die in case someone in specific killed him. He had to have the last word. And sure his last word for uldren could very well have been us shooting him dead with Ace. Or his last word could have been us getting right up to it and having the fullest opportunity to end him and claim vengeance only to prove that were better than murder and by extension better than the Darkness. And also petra hands you the Vestian saying something along the line of "the gun that killed the prince" not verbatim btw. Lastly if anyone or thing is gonna sway us to darker tides it's the drifter and his gambit.

Editado por HollowedWayfarer: 11/29/2018 2:06:35 PMInteresting theory, but there is one problem: We are called Uldren’s Killer by multiple people. Including Riven. And no, Petra never said anything along the lines of “My gun killed Uldren.”
-
When Petra gives you Vestian Dynasty she says "it is the gun that...you know" so it is implied.
-
I’m pretty sure that’s just Bungie poking fun at themselves, but mostly the side of the community who complains about having something be brought back from the last game. When we first got Vestian Dynasty in D1, it started off almost the exact same before being cut off.
-
I'm pretty sure its Petra talking about the Gun that killed Uldren in the context of the aftermath of everything. lol stahp.
-
Raven's Siren calls me a brother killer though my man. Stahp.
-
Did you not play HoW in D1? She said something nearly identical before cutting herself off. We “already know” that the gun is her personal sidearm of choice.
-
And i believe it was also personally given to her by Mara. It's her "knight's sword", in a sense
-
Pretty much, yeah.
-
I'm pretty sure that bungie will find some way to get around lore and have uldren regain his memories

Yeah in regards to the whole Guardian forgets who they are, I feel it's more because these are dead bodies revived, centuries past their initial death. i.e. Ana Bray living and dying during the Golden Age, and being brought back well after the Traveler's time and being lucky enough to have a -blam!-ing name tag on. So I'm perfectly fine with someone who died canonically a few months ago, still being very aware of their past life when revived by a ghost
