Destiny is a game of variety. If any one weapon stands so far above the others that you'd never ever want to use anything else then it needs to be adjusted, regardless of how attached to the weapon you are. The entire health of the game is more important than one single weapon. How are Bungie supposed to get players excited for new content and weapons if the default for everyone is to only use the Ikelos Shotgun? If you can't understand or accept why the weapon was nerfed because it's your crutch then too bad, move the F on.
Ikelos reigned as the supreme weapon for long enough. People had their fun with it and it's time to find a new badboi for us all to use. Adjustments like this are needed sometimes to keep the game from going stale. If they nerfed it a week after people got it then YEAH OUTRAGE but we got over half a year with it. I got mine a week ago on PC and barely even got to use it but I understand why it needs to go. Out with the old and in with the new. Games like this can't survive without some kind of rotating meta.
The 3 shots of bonus damage you get still make it the best PVE shotgun anyway.
NOW
A solution if Bungie wants to remedy the outrage
Create an exotic, unnerfed version of it in the heavy weapon slot.
Ez.

1 Respuestawe just need to seperate pvp from pve thats it. Ikelos is a fun to use shotgun, and we are tired of getting stomped to the ground of some bosses.

Nerf the children

Editado por Zoidberg: 11/29/2018 8:17:26 PMCan we nerf lunas as well then? It's a crutch for good players who earned it. Make them use trash. While we are at it. Nerf nova warp, one eyed mask and whisper of the worm. They are used to much and people like them. I want to be forced to use garbage to overcome things.

4 RespuestasAgreed. It has been a no-skill-required weapon for casual crybabies since day 1. They should have nerfed it more.

Bungie’s game mechanics cause a need for high dps load outs. Bullet sponge bosses, on a timer, with no cover, constantly spawning enemies, and wipe mechanics force people to find the fastest way possible to melt a boss. When they find a good strategy they will keep using it. If you don’t like s strategy then don’t use it.

2 RespuestasIt's sad , the dumbing down of weapons is what causes a stale game . Anyone remember before September ?
Create an exotic, unnerfed version of it in the heavy weapon slot.
Sure because we want an even bigger nerf: To have it waste both the exotic and heavy slot at the same time. What's going to become stale really quickly is plinking at bosses with a special slot fusion rifle instead of melting them quickly.

60 RespuestasEditado por GouldBerg988: 11/28/2018 7:58:04 AMHm, another wall of text that confuses "my personal opinion" with "the greater good of the game". Newsflash: The Game does not exist, for everybody other aspects of the Game are important and yes I can understand the reasoning behind the nerf, but let me show you how flawed that logic is. I would argue that Bungie just shot themselves in the foot because a great part of Warminds content is now obsolete. The smart thing to keep Escalation protocol relevant would have been to make the other two Ikelos weapons better. By your Logic Bungie should have taken all OP weapons and bring them down on the level of their peers: 1.White nail on Whisper should be nerfed to take ammo from reserves, and the white nail perk should be available to all other snipers in the game, because Whisper dominates all endgame wepon and makes other endgame wepaons irrelevant. 2.The Arc Explosions of Thunderlord (a wepoan which is 4 years old) should be toned down to make the upcoming other Machine guns relevant. 3.Magnificient Howl of Luna should be toned down to three rapid precision shots and Magnificient Howl should be available to other Handcannons in the Game too. The List can go on and on.... Realizing something? Now the whole whisperquest is pointless and competitive pvp is pointless. You just eliminated a good chunk of motivation for hardcore players. So now tell us again how anyone who dares to criticize Bungie for half-cooked nerfing is a crybaby, needs a crutch and move the F on....

Or, you know, Bungie can stop making shitty ass exotics that are outclassed by legendary weapons. It's not our fault that they can't make decent weapons with decent perks.

1 RespuestaFinally someone that understands game balance, it needed a nerf and the nerf only turns it from a boss melter to a major melter which is what special weapons should be doing anyway so i dont see the problem. You may not like it but nerfs are just as healthy as buffs are for games. If bungie just buffed everything to be on par with ikelos this game would be way too easy and theyd have to stealth nerf everything by increasing all enemy health reserves or else there would be no challenge and the game would grow stale.

1 RespuestaThe amount of hate your post is getting shows how idiotic this community can be
-
Hey so Luna’s and nf are really op, can we get nerfs for those too?
-
2 RespuestasIkelos did more damage then some heavy weapons (swords) and that is not ok, a special should not be for bosses a heavy should be for bosses.

2 RespuestasAfter speaking with the Hive union last week , they informed me that a change needed to be made to this weapon immediately due to its damage output. Representatives from the Fallen and Cabal were on hand and their views were identical to the Hive with the exception of Randall the Vandal . Outspoken as always, he boldly stated “Bring that weak shit on”. Note : No player representatives were present to complain

I agree with you completely, what are thoughts on nerfing other weapons considered OP, like Lunas?

45 RespuestasEditado por Crota bin Oryx: 11/29/2018 1:17:34 PMIf I agree with you then we should apply same logic in all PvP pinnacle weapons, redrix, Luna's, NF, whatever... It's just been nerfed because all PvP biches moaned about it. It cannot be obtained by a milestone or quest, it's RNG so it cannot be monetized like carry or recoveries for Luna's so these PvP moaners just got it nerfed is it's bad for their business. Bungie logic 101. Working as expected. Edit 1: For those of you who have taken the time to present logical and sensible arguments to my salty BS post I salute you and admit that PVP biching isn't the cause of this nerf. My gripe is with Bungie being lopsided and quick to nerf pve weapon for altruistic reasons which they don't care about in PvP. I understand how Bungie works and how they can be incompetent most of the time. Imagine if trials was on and all the LFG posts were like must have Luna's and 2.0+ kd

3 RespuestasEditado por IcyHorizons: 11/28/2018 11:39:18 PMI mean Dust Rock Blues is more powerful than the Ikelos shotgun without Trench Barrel active, that being said the range at which Dust Rock shoots is not alright, the Ikelos can barely tickle a player or a mob in either PvE or PvP at a farther range. Comparing these weapons in PvE is pretty much a joke considering we all the supreme damage dealer is. However if you take away that Trench Barrel perk, Ikelos becomes just a regular shotgun with a badass design. Do I think Ikelos needed a nerf? No. The damage we do compared to Destiny 1 is blatantly lower and Exotic drop rates is like asking for a sports car for your birthday. It just isn't going to happen. The community can continue their constant efforts to explain why they are right or why another persons point of view is wrong. But all in all just about everyone who probably think the nerf is justified has probably used Ikelos.

1 RespuestaI think you're missing the point. The point is bungie repeatedly ignore the community. No one has complained about ikelos shotty specifically but there has been countless posts about shotguns in general in the crucible as with other guns like telesto and luna. I'm not saying they all should be nerfed but they should be looking at the gun types that don't get used and improving them so they they are a more viable option. They said themselves this is what they want to do. Instead they say screw you we ain't listening to you instead we are gonna hurt your favourite pve gun. They can make all the videos in the world patting themselves on their backs on how great they think they are but the fact they don't listen is why the amount of players is in decline.

Man speaks the truth.

I don't understand the whining about this either, it's still the best PvE special in the game, and they had to make room for new stuff. Plus it seems like trench barrel will be added to other shotguns which makes me happy because as I've posted about before, I want to use energy primaries,
-
28 RespuestasIkeols didn’t break anything. Sure it was strong but wasn’t a game breaking gun. Luna in crucible is FAR worse. Even if you remove trench barrel entirely I would just run the badlanders anyway. Makes zero difference .

PvE quest weapons should never need to be tuned down. Bring ANY shotgun to PvP and a head shot is a head shot. Done. But in PvE the Ikelos Shotty is essential for getting through the tedious, boring, monotonous, repetitive and mostly mundane raids and strikes in a reasonable amount of time. If anything the other Ikelos weapons needed a buff! You see, for most of us, having an OP weapon in PvE isn't about taking away from the experience, it's about making the same experience you've had hundreds of times bearable, and getting it over with as quickly as possible so you can tick off one more box on the weekly to-do list. No one wants to run the same strike over and over again, we want new challenges and experiences, but until we get those at least some of the weapons helped us get through them just a little bit faster so we could move on to the other in-game chores for the week.

1 RespuestaI'm sure it had a nice long run...sadly, I didn't get mine until like 3 weeks ago. Finally get it, and they're nerfing trench barrel. Thanks Bungie! Sorry to say, but this gun was kind of needed. I don't know about you, but I really believe the bullet sponge bosses get old. No real mechanics to killing 95% of them....just shoot the shit out of them for 15 minutes. Ikelios SG reduced this and actually made engagements more fun. I'm sure Thunderlord will be next. Right off the bat, that machine gun rips through just about everything. Give it a couple months and I'm sure it'll be shooting marshmallows.

Seriously, just throw another melee in half way through the clip, it's barely a nerf.
