Was crucible QP always this sweaty?

Heya! Just as the question reads, was it always this bad? Been matched against stacks with Not Forgotten, players who literally shit on us with a 5 - 8.0 KDA, left and right due to their superior skills and obviously communication. I can get kills (alteast i've managed to stay above 1.0 if you can even call that as a success) but not gonna act as if I'm on the same lvl with my kinderguardian as a player whith NF/ Luna's. So why the hell does it match us like that? All solo players maybe a party of 2 who are not even lvl 50 against 3-4stacks with masterworked 580- 600 light level BIS items on top of them being really good. Even one of them would make the game way harder. Is this something that happens after players lose interest in an expansion or was it always like this and I'd better get used to going in with a sweaty mentality everytime i wanna PvP? Honestly would love to try builds/weapons in QP instead of trolling my mates in competitive especially since it's not uncommon to run into some Luna's guys and stacks who play well together as a solo player... (I know alot of new players just started with the F2P + Sales, that includes me aswell to some extent but I've mostly seen pubstompers rather than fair matchmaking recently). Tips are welcome if you have any!

  • Pretty freaking unplayable, I must say. Even though I have Luna's howl I barely use it. I don't enjoy quickplay at all, it's a nightmare, if it's not luna it's dust rock, if it's not dust rock is telesto, if it's not telesto is getting solo barraged or killed by wardcliff coil. It's is straight up unplayable. It severely punishes any other playstyle that isn't a very specific playstyle, I used to like destiny, I even used to recommend it to my friends, but now I don't think so... :/

  • Nope. It’s def gotten waaayyy sweatier since forsaken’s release. When it dropped, things were open. However, now a meta has congealed, and everyone just runs bygones/Luna’s/Trust/shotty, etc. On top of that, matchmaking in quickplay has never been worse. In the beginning, when sbmm was removed, I was a fan. But lately it feels like every other match is against a super sweaty group, either a six stack or several players that have Not Forgotten. It’s frustrating, and I can’t imagine it’s good for the long-term health of the game. Games need more than sweaty tryhards to survive. Hopefully this new season will breathe some fresh life into the game. I know some very dedicated players who have outright quit crucible until something changes.

The ONLY reason people are noticing more now is cause they see not forgotten and lunas as a skill level. Before you played all the same people and got beat just the same. The meta has always been used in quick play but now when you see a not forgotten, instead of just going wow hes a good player you think damn hes max glory rank and I'm not so I shouldn't match up with him. Also any average player can get lunas if they put the time in. It's a lengthy grind but I got it with a 1.0kd and 50% win rate in comp. So dont automatically assume anyone with lunas is a God tier pvp player.

      • It seems MP games in general have become sweaty AF in the last few years. Everyone's a no life god MLG pro. Overwatch, Battlefield, WW2, Blops 4, Destiny 2. You can't be casual anymore.

        • Ignoring the subjectivity of what sweaty is to each person in the known universe, because you're going to get the opinion of half of them posting something that open about PvP, I would say that objectively the answer is no it wasn't. When Bungie created ranks that are affected by wins/losses, they created more of an urgency to win. How much more of an urgency is also subjective, but there is now more pressure to win now than there was when it didn't matter at all.

            • Matchmaking in quickplay has been pretty brutal lately. I don't know if I've ever played a game where matches consistently end to mercy rule (both for and against) so consistently. Very few games feel like they are close as it is so easy to sweat it out, camp heavy, and chain supers around and around maps with terrible spawn traps. Either queue solo and be the statue, or find a group that plays and be the pigeon I guess (or do what 95% of my friends list has done, and go play something you enjoy with your game time)

              • SBMM, CBMM, or both. It doesn’t matter because bad coding, damage ref like BS running in the background, and etc are still going to dictate the outcome of most matches before the match even starts.

                • Sweaty means competitive, meaning you have a chance, if this is the case, rejoice! The majority of us get mercy'd and then join a mercy in progress, or vice versa - join a mercy in progress and then get mercy'd next game. If you're having even a mildly different experience, you're special and should be happy.

                    • Well... if you’re worse than average maybe thats why? I assume youre new cause light levels dont do anything in crucible. Lunas howl isnt hard to get just start next season.... and.... if someone has NF it doesn’t really give them a super high advantage. It just proves they are a good player which is why they are stomping you.

                      • SBMM has no place in quickplay. Qp is for completely random matchmaking, you might find weaker, stronger or on par players. If you enter qp expect to play anyone - that includes not forgotten users and users who haven't finished campaign yet. Its has nothing to do with even or competitive matches, that's what comp is for. If your getting destroyed every game as you claim that's simply where you are compared to players globally instead of sbmm which allows everyone to pretend they're all even. You claim you match not forgottens each game btw but statistically that's not even close to possible, the exaggerations need to stop

                          • I was testing out the upcoming GL meta with Militia's Birthright, Fighting Lion, and Play of the Game last night. I ran across one or two other players doing the same thing, but everyone else is still sporting current meta shotgun + hand cannon. Just about every opposing team was a NF / Luna stack. Next season will be pretty crazy with all the GL single-taps.

Look, I'm good. I know that. I have Luna, but my main loadout is Ace and a sniper. I have over 70k guardians killed in PvP. I just...well...enjoy the mode. And I got good at it. There might be one or two of us in a game, or a team, or everybody like that. You just gotta get better and not think that you're gonna be great out the gate. Before I was in your shoes. Now, I can fight a not forgotten player with Ace and a sniper. I've done it. It was epic! Just keep at it man, you'll get there!

                              • It’s because most of the comp players(including me) have Luna or NF and since the season is about to end there isn’t much of a reason to play comp. So a large majority are just playing QP. I feel like that’s the main contributor. Usually QP isn’t this bad man but even I’ve noticed all the sweats lol.

                                  • Yea, it seems Bungie doesn't really care as long as it can feed the elite player with chum (everyone else). I would think at some point the would realize to match up by the KD ratio +/- .2 or similar, to keep it competitive. Or in preferences let you put in a K/D ratio above yours to be included in match making, you wouldn't be able to take on anyone lower than your K/D, but the game would apply the +/- .2 difference during match making. Let the elite eat the elite and let the averages eat the average. PVP is my last resort mode after I have nothing left in the PVE side. I'm a 1.2k/d (not that good I know), but I have noticed it has become much more difficult as of late. This will keep most players out of the mode when they can't get anywhere.

SBMM means even more sweat. CBMM means you don’t get matched against laggy players as long as you have good wifi, which means a fair match. Also, you just gotta deal with the not forgottens. Or else top tier players and bottom tier players won’t ever get matched with anyone. I think it’s mostly your gonna have to find a way to counter them. It’s rough climbing in skill, but try playing more pve first before going into pvp. Better weapons and better things. Light levels don’t matter btw, just their experience vs your experience. Light lvl advantages are off for everything except Iron Banner. Go find xur. Buy his wares, especially weapons. Armor if they match your play style. If you have a lot of shards, then go for everything to get them out of the loot pool. Idk if you have dlc’s, but that doesn’t really matter all that much. Although I would recommend especially since it’s cyber Monday there might be some deals. You should buy the forsaken pack that includes every dlc. Also, new season coming soon so get ready for that. This is advice for anyone feeling like they can’t get any better. Just keep on trying and don’t give up. This comes from someone who didn’t even break positive kd in D1 but is now around 1.3 and normally ends up at the top of the board. More often then not I see people getting better by fighting against those who are better than them. You keep learning counters and strats, anything they can help you against those who better or really good. Other than that, keep on practicing. There is no penalty for playing quick play and trying out new things. Just try and stay positive/happy. Mark any improvement. But don’t be satisfied with 2nd-3rd. Keep trying and trying and try not to get rusty. Anyone can wreck with meta weapons, but you can still do really well with other weapons. Don’t listen to those who say to always use certain weapons. Make your own loadout to your own play style. It’s easy to win with a god rolled dust rock blues and a lunas howl, but you can still destroy those who get arrogant. Additionally, don’t be ashamed of anything. You like using shotguns? Use them. You like using snipers? Use them. Do you really like using telesto? USE IT. Don’t let someone getting salty get in the way of using what you like. Someone’s always going to be salty and unfortunately we can’t help that. It’s gonna sound cheesy, but just do you. Anyways I hope that helped people. Maybe I’m not the best person to explain this, but it’s sure helped me get a lot better. I’m happy to add recommendations given. Or if you disagree just tell me why. Let’s try and keep it civil.

                                      • This isn't every game I promise you, people remember bad things better than good things. That said it's CBMM it's just anyone who lives near you will be paired with you. It's quick to make a match and it is designed so that you have no idea wether it's gonna be near your skill level, comp actually uses rank based matchmaking. Which becomes more accurate the longer a season goes( there's no pros who just hadn't played yet at low rank) and especially if you aren't watching your glory I recommend that to you if you want to feel skill based matchmaking.
