I'm not bragging - playing lots of D2 is nothing to brag about. Just for perspective, I hit Dredgen week 3, with 6 resets, about 1000 gambit games, and over 100 army of one team-wipe medals. During that time, I spent a lot of time solo queue'ing, and when trying to win during last part of infamy reset or for meatball etc., went on numerous 20+ win streaks. The following is a list of 10 tips to up your Gambit Game. During the first 6 weeks I was in the top 10 or top 15 on most of the PC stat tracking charts, so these tips come from my own experience plus many of them are shared by some of the best Gambit players in D2.
1. Communicate with your Team. If you are on PS or XBOX, try to make a party as soon as your team is identified, or in-game chat which almost noone uses. Either way, even 1 person in your party makes a huge difference for callouts. On PC - you should be checking your local team chat - leave it open the entire time, or game chat or discord. Whatever you can do to get people to communicate makes you much more effective. On PC - even without mics, just type into /team chat. Even if its just to say hi, or comment on a good play, or suggest a strategy for banking, burning or invading etc. For every toxic douchebag out there, there are 3-4 people actually willing to work together.
2. Choose the right Super - whatever your class, there are supers that are much more valuable and effective than others. Hunters - blade barrage for boss melting, or top tree tether with orpheus rigs for orbs, debuff and add control. Titans - top tree solar for shoulder melt debuff when the boss is ready to be burned, or top/middle tree arc with skullfort for fast add clearing. Warlocks - solar middle tree well if your team has that kind of burn strategy (which is by far not the best), or dawblade bottom tree solar if you're the invader. Chaos reach is also a good boss burn. If you must go void, then bottom tree devour for add clearing staying alive plus a tractor cannon to debuff yellow bars and boss for your void damage.
3. Choose the right Armor. Hunters on blade barrage, shard of galanor or wormhusk. Shards give you super energy but wormhusk gives you healing for add clearing. Hunters on top tree tether don't bother without orpheus rigs. Titans on Solar - 100% Hallowfire Heart chest piece, and keep your super chaged up. Super fast grenades and melee recharge makes you a wrecking machine. Warlocks either a super specific armor piece, or alternate between Transversive Steps and Lunafaction. Transversive are one of the best warlock exotics in the game.
4. Choose the right Weapons and MASTERWORK them for orb generation. If you don't have mindight coup, get it next time Benedict is selling it that week. Pulse rifles top slot are also good..Bygones, Go Figure. Get one with rampage or kill clip at least. For energy, you can't go wrong with the EP shotgun, but its smart to have a good weapon of each energy type for breaking shields. Heavy weapons - you cannot beat Queenbreaker, Sleeper Simulant, or Thunderlord. All 3 are great. If you are going to use a sniper, get one that one shots people.
5. RAID. Last Wish raid. I cannot stress this enough. Do the Last Wish raid, and open the 2 chests between Kalli & Shuro Chi, then between Shuro Chi & Morgreth. These chests contain Taken Mods for your armor and weapon and they are incredibly powerful. Taken Armaments armor mod gives you heavy ammo when your grenades kill taken. So, use your grenades to kill the taken blocking the bank and you will have constant heavy.
6. BANKING strategy. Probably the single most commonly screwed up part of Gambit. Two reasons. First, some people just don't know what they are doing. Second, some people are just selfish. Either way, banking strategy wins and loses games. Try to bank 5's as fast as possible. 5's block the bank and slow the enemy team down. Try not to bank 10's or 15's unless someone else is banking 5's at the same time. They are easy to kill and waste the opportunity to send 2-3 phalanx taken. Phalanx taken are nasty, their shield blowback wrecks people on Pit, etc.
7. MOTE collection. This aspect of the game shows who is and isn't paying attention, or who is just a self-centered player. First, pay attention. If you have 5 motes, your teammate has 4 motes, and 1 mote is left to pick up....let the guy with 4 get it. That's 2 blockers. If the guy with 5 takes it, he is not playing smart or as a team. Same goes at all levels - if you have 10 and a guy has 14, with 1-2 left, LET him get it. Finally - biggest tip of all - don't be greedy. If you are running past adds to pick up motes, you increase your change of dieing, and you piss off your teammates. I lost track of the number of players who died rushing into adds to pick up the motes I created.
8. INVASION. Invasions are the single biggest factor in winning and losing games. First, if you are really good and you know it, politley say in team chat, or make it clear by trying to get the heavy ammo or moving towards portal, that you are going to invade. I can't count how many games were lost because someone who thinks they are good but really isn't that good tried to invade the whole time. Second, if you have somoene who invades and gets 3-4 kills, LET THEM invade even if you are good. Try to check your ego at the door.
9. BOSS BURN. When you spawn the boss, kill the wizard envoys. Then kills the snipers around the map, try to clear the pad as quickly as possible. If you are damaging the boss and you don't have Primeval slayer buff of at least x2, you are wasting ammo and energy. Identify your teammates right up front - do you have a top tree solar titan? Do you have a tether or shattering strike hunter? Do you have someone on tractor cannon? If so, try to wait for them to debuff/melt the boss to unload your super. Situations vary, but you can easily melt a boss in 2 seconds, and if you are taking longer than 15 seconds to kill a boss, you're doing it wrong.
10. --- 25, 25 -- invasion banking --- pay attention. The first pad you clear will have around, approximately 18-22 motes based on RNG and which of your teammates somehow manages to die right out of the gate. Invasion portal opens at 25. So.... think about this. If you ideally bank 4x5 blockers, at 20, then the first guy who gets 5 motes should haul ass back to the bank and open the invasion portal. If you have 20 banked, and you are holding 5 motes at the 2nd pad, and still collecting, you are doing it wrong. Try to send blockers when your invader goes to help him out and get more enemy motes.
Finally - heavy ammo. If you are not invading, don't take the heavy ammo. It's really that simple. There is zero reason with (a) primary (b) energy (c) heavy ammo finder on your armor (d) taken armaments on your armor that you should take the heavy ammo if you are not invading.
Have fun.
p.s.
If you are dieing to ADDS, you are doing it wrong. Don't overextend. Play as a team, work adds together. People losing motes to adds is poor gameplay 95% of the time.

Very well written and well thought out. A+

I'm not saying these aren't good tips, but they're kinda useless. Because, unfortunately, Bungo has tied triumphs and bounties to banking large amounts of motes and summoning ogres. And a lot of people just want that engram so they're going to rush in and take that one mote from the guy who has 9 just so they can have 2. Until that changes it doesn't really matter what you do as a solo player, you're at the mercy of these idiots.

telesto and helm with light reactor. thank me later.
-
Being in chat means your not solo because your talking to the other players no different to being in a fire team.
-
Another tip. Don't insult your team mates. I always do half the damage to primeval all by myself, and I also carry the team with kills and let others gather the motes. I also take out the blockers with my shotgun when they appear. It's called strategy. I'm fine, win or lose... but if some dork(talking to you, "carn##e") starts pulling that melee crap between rounds, I will sit and laugh while you struggle and lose without me.

After playing today, i'm not sure anyone has ever actually won a game. Well, except the 4 stack teams I went up against in almost every single game.

4 RespuestasA thousand Gambit matches? I’m awfully impressed.

2 RespuestasThank you for posting this. I have been improving on my Gambit play. I won't be able to get my second reset for the season due to the fact I started too late. Posts like this help improve all players. Its constructive and gets people thinking. I've been focusing on killing ads and banking motes. My new goal is to kill and bank 100 in one match. I'm surprised you didn't mention getting malfeasance, it has been a game changer for me especially when melting the primeval wizards and the boss. Thanks again for the tips!

Editado por MindfulPizza: 11/22/2018 1:42:39 PMi got dude can get buddy that average 25 kills on the invasion kills , if playing that way , half what posted only works on mixed match teams , invader should drop there super orbs each time they invade , and at one time some one need a heavy to melt the envoys faster , so can melt point the boss in 2 to 3 seconds , when can ,

3 RespuestasExcellent. I have nothing to add.

3 RespuestasGotta say that Chaos Reach is better with the Geomag stabilizers, not Transversive steps.

SO how deal with the no drop special and heavy rounds , and the were bungie or the game , decides , other team in god mode , on the win streaks? were , npc one shot , and your primevil get the shield over and over ? and one shot kill adds npc? that , most the players deal with . ?

1 RespuestaYuck, talking to people in game, worst! I’m being serious.
-
One thing that you should add, is when getting invaded focus on the the three spawns. The faster they are off the field and less people they take down the better. Also if someone dies, look for their death marker so you get a rough idea where they are. It surprises me how little anyone does this. Also bank when you have the ability to summon the primeval; I've had the where we were at that point, and the enemy was at 16 and my teammates just keep getting them instead of going to bank.
