Fallout 76 is awful

I can’t seem to comprehend how this game can be fun. And yes, I’ve played with friends and alone. Sure, the times with friends were slightly better, but nothing significant. The quests are boring and lacklustre, always ending in a dull fight, using a terminal or talking to a robot. The game constantly has severe frame rate drops and then the game will proceed to sit at 10 FPS for the next 30 minutes. The gunplay is clunky and rough and the extremely poor hit reg doesn’t make it any better. If anyone wants to explain why they think the game is good, feel free. But I just don’t think it’s worth my time with so many other great games releasing recently

  • I still don't know why people expect other the clunky gameplay with Bethesda games. I don't have a problem with people not liking the game or really any game, my problem is when other people(not saying you are) say it's bad and then try to make everyone agree with them. The cool new thing on YoutUbe is to hate on Fallout 76 which is rather annoying. When Anthem or The Division 2 comes out everyone will forget about FO76 and then hate on the nest online multi-player game. Let people like what they like unless it is physical or mentally bad for them, which this game is neither.

    • People knew 1) what engine was used, 2) what gameplay style it was going to be, 3) knew npcs would not exist, 4) knew it would be buggy and bethesda literally said they knew it wouldnt be great, 4) had the chance to play the betas.... And yet post launch they still bitch and even demand refunds...lol pathetic. Game isnt what you expected (even though it was clearly represented on how it would end up). Move on.

      • It's pretty simple the game is a survival game based around exploring the map. If you are looking for something better then that then it's not a game for you. The game play is as good as fallout games have always been. I haven't had any frame rate issues but I did experience 1 glitch that left me leaving a random quest uncompleted. It's clearly a side project and that's fine. Play it for what it is because that is all it will ever be. Simply put, if you don't like it then you will never like it.

        •
If anyone wants to explain why they think the game is good, feel free.
Its clealy not. The problem is that Fallout 4 had many of the same problems. The game engine Bethesda uses is buggy, slow, clunky and seriously dated. But instead of holding Bethesda to account for this, people made excuses for them....and Bethesda got away with putting out poorly quality-tested games...and relying on modders to fix the problems. This is nothing new with this series. People are just finally seeing the problems for what they are, and are finally holding Bethesda accountable.

        • Dreamcastguy tells of running into some Bethesda employees who gave a bit of insight (thanks to the fact they met at an arcade bar and had been drinking) of why Fallout 76 shipped in the state that it is in: https://youtu.be/Pfoa-KsgCnw No sales incentives = no bonuses for good sales. The most important factor was that it launched in November. If this person is to be believed, Bethesda was never very serious about Fallout 76. They just wanted something to sell for this Holliday season. It reminds me of Metal Gear Survive, not in actual gameplay but that it was lazy. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain assets and add zombies.

          • In my mind the only type of multiplayer fallout that would be fun is a co-op, full fallout game. Much of my love for fallout is in the stories, npcs and scenery. To me its just a rust clone.

          • Personally I like the survival style take on the game and never minded Bethesda's clunky controls. While I can say I have had quite a bit of fun in 76, I will say, the server stability along with the framerate stutter are rough even for a game with the Bethesda logo on it. I like what I'm playing but man does the game need some work.

            • It's fun to explore and loot and kill stuff and see the progress you make. It has its issues but they'll get fixed by Bethesda.

              • I enjoy it. You're exploring the world as if the hero arrived too late.

              • The only positive about the game is that Bethesda might learn some programming and fix the bugs in their engine. They can't rely on the playerbase to fix the game like they always have. Not that they are off to a good start they are already taking round about ways to fix things. Just lock the framerate, and FOV. Brilliant.

                • The game is primarily about exploring. 76 has the most full and detailed environments of any of the fallout games. The story is told to you through the environment itself and hollow taps. Basically making your character a passenger to the world instead of the one steering it. Gameplay wise it's basically a survival game with the fall out skin on top. It's different but certainly not bad. I would only slate the game for charging full price for the game. 40$ imo would have been more fair. And obviously the bugs.

                • The game is Fallout dressed in Minecraft skin. Both franchises are massive stinkfests. Only stupid people would buy anything from either one of them.

                  • I was pretty optimistic until I played the beta. Can't say that the future of the game looks all that bright to be honest, and given the technical state of it, it's probably safe to say that Bethesda would've been better off allocating their resources elsewhere and scrapping the project entirely. The 76 team would've been better off carrying out R&D on a new engine, not cobbling together this mess.
