I think the problem is when a weapon is so good that you are a detriment to your team if you use anything else. You should be able to play the game you want, but instead you need to use Ikelos and Whisper for endgame pve content if you’re trying for max efficiency. Don’t nerf anything just bring other weapons inline with Ikelos so there are more viable choices.

Unless they allow Trench Barrel to roll on other shotguns, no other shotgun will be nearly as strong in PvE. It outclasses every other shotgun and pretty much every other energy weapon. It completely dominates the energy slot. I can see Bungie turning it into an exotic in the future.

EP shotgun is the equivalent of black hammer in D1, they’ll probably just end up turning it into an exotic somehow; destroying the legendary version so it’s unusable. Probably have the gun be infected with Siva and it ends up destroyed. I’d rather it be an exotic than to have it completely nerfed, it deserves the exotic slot. Or they can just keep it as it is and make it a heavy weapon instead just as it was in year 1 . They’re going to take one of these 3 routes. 1) nerf trench barrel 2) make it an exotic weapon Or 3) move it to the power slot Because as it stands now its 100% the best energy weapon in the game, even stronger than most heavy weapons , least as PVE is concerned. Not using it is basically a handicap to yourself and your team, especially in gambit. I’d personally rather them leave the gun alone and just turn it into an exotic that keeping its signature perk intact. But on the other hand, if they do nerf it, Lunas Howl and not forgotten will be next ( pvp) and then every pinnacle weapon forwards. This is exactly what happens when Bungie creates Legendary weapons that not only outclass every legendary but majority of exotics as well simply for how much damage they deal. And its not the weapons fault either, its the fact that damn near every legendary and majority of exotics aren’t even strong to begin with. Atleast with Rederix claymore/ broadsword you had to physically get a kill in order to proc its perk; this is the biggest reason why Lunas and the Ikelos shotgun especially are so strong. If they both worked the same way as rampage or even kill clip ( by getting a kill first) no one would feel like they’re handicapped by not having/ using them. Yes, both guns have insane damage fall off but in their intended ranges nothing in the game comes close to damage when their perks proc. The only real solution INSTEAD of a straight nerf would be to make both weapons exotics. That way they can keep their lethality but are more situational to use.

This is one of my favorite pve guns in the game. absolutely.....do not......ever.....nerf.....this....gun or change it to exotic (as that is just as dumb).

any streamer talking about nerfing trench barrel should lose your subscription and your views that's a -blam!-ing idiot right there. At the end of the day it doesn't matter though. This game is totally freaking dead.

It's not that much better than a good rolled badlander. Maybe shotguns in general need a nerf, but the ep shotgun certainly doesn't on its own.

I don't have it and I kinda don't want it. The fact that other shotguns can't get trench barrel is stupid. Other weapons can get box breathing and they nerfed the perk. They should do the same for the shotgun.

Don't nerf any shotguns. I'm a below-average player and I can deal with shotguns. That means everyone can deal with shotguns. Just. Fix. Matchmaking.

The boss stomp mechanism makes trench barrel useless

The gun shouldn't have anything done. The effort into actually getting this gun is like scaling a mountain. The work reflects the effort. I think the SMG needs a new Iklos perk, as does the sniper to make them a more viable option. Various ideas. SMG : Breaking a shield now overpowers the gun, refilling the magazine to full, and grants explosive payload to the newly filled clip. (In PVP this perk will only activate on breaking the shield of a guardian in super. Reloading deactivates the perk) Sniper : Upon aiming down sights for a short duration, the sniper will activate "Iklos Protocol" perk. All shots fired while holding ads will cause a AOE explosion (explosion will be like the Javalin from Escalation Protocol. Perk will activate after 3 seconds of ADS time and deactivate if you leave ADS) Please give feedback on this idea and anything that triggers you. These perks would replace the Iklos SMG Shield breakign perk, and boxed breathing
