I feel like it's a great game, but also feel a bit dubious on all of the GOTY claims.
What do you think on it? What games come close to it? What games are better than it?
God of War still remains my current pick for GOTY. I haven't played Spider-Man yet, but I have always felt it would come down to GoW and RDR2

2 RespuestasWhen it comes to detail RDR2 is amazing. But so far the story has just been okay, the controls are awful, horse collision is awful, and I’m tired of wiggling Arthur around everywhere to get on that one pixel so I can loot something. It’s a great game. But game of the year worthy? Not to me.

6 RespuestasIMO GoW is the much better game. RDR2 is just copy pasta GTA into an ol' school western world.
-
3 RespuestasMost people, especially younger ones, are sheep. If enough YouTubers and streamers started pooping on toast and telling everyone how great it tasted, you'd have a whole lot of millennials with shit stained teeth.

Editado por What I Look Like: 11/11/2018 5:52:20 AMNaw, I'd give it to RDR2 even considering I love GoW infinitely more for what it is. I personally prefer to annihilate demons and monsters with my spare time.. which is why RDR2 sliding into my time frame is such a miracle in and of itself. I was riding around the other day and came across some hobo in a cabin deep in some woods. This guy was talking shit before I even got off my damn horse lmfao. He wanted me to go away, but I needed $$$ to pay off a few bounties, so I said "fck you dude". This man whips out the most GORGEOUS shotgun I have ever seen and runs inside, proceeds to shoot me through windows. I barely made it to cover alive, lost my hat, and ended up eating my horse's oatcakes to regen health.. but I needed that gun. Made a mad dash for the door, slammed it open, and proceeded to dead eye the dude to death. One shot to each knee, one to the neck. The shotgun was worth me risking a few hours of gameplay I hadn't saved. At this point the game had me by the throat.

4 RespuestasIs it as good as everyone says? Hell no. It's been circlejerked like The Witcher 3. It is still a great game, though. The world is massive and filled with activities, characters are good, story is meh, and controls are shit. Played GoW and RDR2 and, to me, GoW is much better.

1 RespuestaEditado por Uncanny_Vale: 11/10/2018 9:53:08 PMI agree. God of War is still an easy winner for me. I haven’t finished RDR2 yet, but for me it is a really good game... but it’s also a somewhat flawed game. The story is the only thing keeping me going so far because the gameplay is starting to get stale and boring. The moment to moment gameplay is definitely nowhere near as satisfying as GoW. For me there are too many annoying systems for RDR2 to be a true GOTY contender. I would give RDR2 an 9/10 whereas GoW was an almost perfect 10/10.

RDR2 is not a 10/10 possibly an 8

Easily goty

RDR2 is just massive. Probably takes about 30 minutes of riding at a full gallop to go from one end of the map to the other, and probably 3-4 hours on foot. There's so much to do, from side quests, to hunting, to robbing, to treasure hunting etc. Definitely in the running for best game I've ever played. The slow pace probably throws a lot of people off though, but once I got used to it I realized it adds to the immersion.

It probably is very good. But always keep in mind that the hype is always high around launch time, even moreso for a game that people have been anticipating for years. It seems good, but many people who think it is the second coming of GoldenEye won't be playing it in a month or two.

Single player game, great graphics, clunky controls. If youre a fan of witcher 3 youll like it.
-
There’s SOOOO much to do in RDR2. It took me 2 weeks just to grind the story without doing side quests. The characters and story are really good. Plus, online is coming soon.

2 RespuestasGoW was no different then any other hack and slash rpg. The story was enjoyable. Gameplay was fun. But like all ps exclusive games there is no real reason to play it anymore once complete the story. From an average gamers perspective it only really rates an 8/10. The high ratings come from nostalgia. RDR2 has a great story, fun gameplay, a world that is actually alive and full of things to do besides the story. In terms of quality overall RDR2 is way beyond the levels of GoW. All in all the average gamer will rate it 9/10. The quality of the game leaves it hard not to. In the end they are also 2 very different games that dont really fall into the same genre. RDR2 would be a tough one to beat for GOTY.

2 RespuestasThe combat is kinda wonky at first but the world and characters in the world are amazing. It's my first rockstar title and I am really impressed.

2 RespuestasWell, it's pretty good, but there are parts that drag out. Hunting is okay, but for me, it's been dragging out for far too long. Been searching for a 3 star fox and badger for about a week solid (real time, not game time), to finish out my camp upgrades. First you have to find the animal you're searching for, then you have to find a 3 star of that animal, then you have to use the correct weapon. 3 star animals are the only ones worth killing unless it's a legendary animal, as the camp upgrades, satchel upgrades, outfits you can make, and saddles you can make all call for 3 star pelts or carcasses. If you're going to bother with hunting something for it's carcass you'd better make the trinket that stops carcasses from spoiling while they're on the back of your horse, cause it sucks to travel all the way to one part of the map for a specific animal only to have it degrade to a 2 star by the time you make it back to camp. That's my only gripe.

1 RespuestaPersonally I found it slow and boring, said this in another post, and boy did I get some abuse, not sure if I should trade it in or wait til the online bit kicks in.
-
I'm becoming more cynical on open world games these days.
-
That's a good boah.
-
RDR2 details really make it stand out above everything else. That and a story not afraid to kill off characters they just did character development on.
-
I wasn't a fan of GTA, the game didn't live up the hype for me. I do admire Rockstar fans, if this was a Bioware game it would have been ripped to shreds by now. lol
-
I love it.. But you need to take your time. While playing. God of war is a completly different game by any means
-
5 RespuestasRed Dead will probably win Goty. Already made a billion dollars in sales after one week. Eveyone I know that's playing it loves it so far. I've been watching my wife play it and it looks beautiful and I have been liking the story so far. Almost looks like a shoe in if you ask me.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is not a great game. By comparison, God of War is far superior. Originally having launched in 2005, this epic adventure will send you on a hack-and-slash murder spree through the Greek mythos. Unfortunately, since God of War launched in 2005, it's impossible to garner a Game of the Year award for an entry that first launched more than a decade ago. Even then the game was overshadowed by the likes of Resident Evil 4 and Shadow of the Colossus. This year, I have yet to find a game better than Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. With attractive graphics, a likeable cast of characters, a diversified blend of varying gameplay elements (including addictive kingdom management), and a topnotch soundtrack that will pull you in, it's the game of games that outmatches everything else I've played up to this point.

Editado por BigHux12: 11/11/2018 1:26:27 PMNo, but it is a great game nonetheless

1 RespuestaRDR2 definitely sets new standards for open world games in terms of immersion and detail. I think you're underrating the game to call it "dubious". It'd be no surprise at all if it scored GOTY.
