Favorite Halloween events/DLC?
Good evening everybody! This is Aifos coming to you [i]undead[/i] from outside the Grimm Troupe’s tent! The show is about to begin, why not join us?

Good job, Papika you ruined the mood..
Papika: “I thought we were being scary..”
Scary scary, not funny scary! Whatever.
Hallow’s Eve is a festive time of year. We dress up in uncomfortable costumes, walk around outside in the bitter cold, and knock on the doors of complete strangers, hoping for some candies. At least, we used to. I kinda miss trick or treating..
But never mind that, games, being incapable of trick or treating, oft celebrate the season with unique events, or themed DLC. It’s some great fun when done well, some cheap way to sell you lootboxes when done poorly, and a thing that happens either way! Now we gamers can enjoy all the joys of Halloween, without having to go outside in the cold!
Well.. All the joys except the candy.. And the fun of dressing up.. And the spending time with family..
But all the other, less important parts!
So let’s talk about Halloween events..

What’re your favorite Halloween events/DLC?
My answer:
Spoilers for Hollow Knight: The Grimm Troupe
[spoiler]Probably the Grimm Troupe from Hollow Knight. It’s a free DLC, that’s not particularly large, or complicated, but still good fun, and interesting story wise.
You venture around Hallownest, finding 3 red flames possessed by some powerful baddies. After obtaining them, you hunt three more held by even stronger foes. Then you fight a pretty fun boss, and collect the final 3 flames held by enemies that might as well be minibosses in their own right, before fighting what is probably my favorite boss in the game;
Nightmare King Grimm!
There’s also an optional “banishment”, but it’s not really worth it.[/spoiler]

1 RespuestaInfamous: Festival of Blood It's a non-canon standalone for Infamous 2 where Cole gets kidnapped while exploring an old crypt below New Marais (AKA not New Orleans) and his blood is used to revive Bloody Mary, the Vampire... Queen? This also turns Cole into a vampire. The ridiculous plot revolves around Cole becoming a Vampire Hunter, trying to find a cure for his own vampirism.

2 RespuestasI don't know about my favourite, but I'll always remember the "Shade's Eve" event from Wildstar. The art style and sense of humour in that game really made it. The 'dungeon' was also really well thought out and fun to play.

1 RespuestaElder Scrolls Online has the Witches festival, which I always enjoy. Everyone gets a “crow caller” memento, which if used during the event summons a cauldron and gives an XP buff. If you drink from the cauldron, you also turn into a skeleton. Killing any boss during the event grants a plunder skull which is full of seasonally appropriate loot, including equipment crafting styles to learn, spooky alchemy items, and furniture or furniture designs to decorate your house for the season. Plus the in game store gets a bunch of seasonal stuff too, but that’s just something extra if you’re the kind of player with money to burn

2 RespuestasFor some reason I look forward to the Halloween event in Overwatch. The don’t really add anything new other then Junkenstein’s Revenge, but I really like to chase the new skins the release.

4 RespuestasFor Honor has a Halloween event going right now, it replaced all the normal troops with Spooky Skeletons and gives out some neat cosmetic effects and weapon pieces for playing. I wish I had something more memorable to post, but I honestly have nothing. ...Unless we want to stretch the definition of Halloween Event/DLC, in which case I nominate Dead Money from New Vegas. It should be self evident as to why.

The Headless Horseman would rise from his grave and terrorize the low-level villages by flying through the skies and throwing flaming pumpkins that would set the town on fire all while shouting in rhymes. [i]"Prepare yourselves, the bells have tolled! Shelter your weak, your young, and your old! Each of you shall pay the final sum. Cry for mercy, the reckoning has come!"[/i] Players had to cooperate by filling buckets at the well and then running back to douse the flames. If you were successful the Headless Horseman would leave loot behind like flying brooms. He would also challenge you to find him at his resting place to end his reign of terror. He would drop epic loot like his sword, trinkets, his helmet (which I claimed as my prize once, it was awesome), or his most coveted prize; his horse. You could trick or treat at all the inn keepers for candy and prizes. If you ate too much candy you would vomit all over the place. Towns were decorated with Jack-O-Lanterns, skeletons, spiders, and bats. Music in certain areas would also change to a more spooky tone. What was more awesome was that the Headless Horseman was canon. He was a knight resurrected by a demon and cursed to believe that his is actually alive and that the rest of the world are the undead.

1 RespuestaSpiral Knights has provided multiple stuff during the Halloween season, but nowadays only one is specifically bound to the month of October: The Dark Harvest. Once a day, or more if they’re lucky during their expeditions, the knights can get an audience with the Punkin King, and receive one of two things: a trick or a treat. If it’s a treat, they get some candy tokens for free! If it’s a trick, he sicks his gourdlings (a variety of weaker zombies) on the players and starts bouncing about, forcing the knights to beat the candy out of him.

4 RespuestasThe Monika After Story mod for DDLC has Monika dress up and have a spooky atmosphere for the day. You can even take her .chr file with you for trick and treating! We don't do trick or treating here at this time of the year, though. Still, she looks super cute!

5 RespuestasMadhouse in Rainbow Six is alright, a bit too dark with the lighting though. I think Overwatch has a pretty good Halloween celebration.

3 RespuestasHmm, that's a good question. I don't particularly care for All Hallow's Eve, so I don't usually partake in the festivities in games. But...I can think of two answers to this. In Borderlands 2, the head hunter DLCs were all based on a holiday, and the first one was Halloween themed, exploring a graveyard and fighting Halloween themed enemies. And in Final Fantasy XIV, there's the seasonal event, All Saint's Wake. This usually includes a couple of quests to unlock Halloween themed goodies, such as ghost pets, or pumpkins. It also contains a special dungeon, where you must explore a haunted mansion (its just another dungeon with Jack o lanterns and other decorations spilled throughout it), and this allows you to get special cookies you can turn in for more rewards. Neither are really "scary", but they do emulate Halloween pretty well in my opinion.
