1. Yes. 2. You do realize that that’s the language that Totalitarian regimes use to silence their enemies and critics, right? That’s Stalinist language. What is WRONG with you people? Is this really the kind of country you want to live in??

Well to me he is atleast 25% correct. about 1/3? or somewhere over 15% the media omits stuff, or 'forgets to follow up with body cam footage on police stuff.'
-
Broadcast media and 24 hour news cycles have put tremendous pressure on the media to get a story fast rather than right. But our short attention spans and unwillingness to learn about events in depth is also to blame. Newspapers aren’t dying because they get the news wrong... or fail to follow things up. The media is not a monolith are we and our consumption habits are partially to blame.
-
Haha yeah let's just let these giant shady corporations control the truth and the narrative nothing could possibly go wrong and all of these media corporations definitely have a clean track record.

Editado por TheArtist: 10/29/2018 10:40:30 PMWhich is why you don’t get all your information from one source.... ..., and the people who you are the MOST skeptical of are those who tell you what you want to hear and tell you how right you are. Someone who thinks you’re always right is either an IDIOT or someone smarter than you who is trying to manipulate and control you. Skepticism is healthy. Skeptics believe some things and people can be trusted. You just have to do the work to figure who can and who can’t. Cynicism is a lazy cop out. You don’t want to be bothered trying to figure out who can be trusted so you just insist that nothing and nobody can. Cause EVERYBODY SUCKS. The moment you take that attitude, they win. They don’t have to take your freedom at that point you just handed over willingly because you couldn’t be bothered with the responsibility that came with it.
Which is why you don’t get all your information from one source....
That's the problem. Most of the bigger media outlets are heavily biased and will report false information.
-
No one reports false information. Because in this age it’s too easy to get fact-checked by your competitors. What they do is filter what news they report. Fox News is the worst offender. They never lie. But they systematically ignore or downplay whatever news makes Republicans look bad or calls conservative policies into question. That’s the agenda of every Rupert Murdoch owned media outlet. MSNBC sees everything through a Progressive filter. CNN sees everything through pseudo-objectivity. They (until the Trump Administration) used to act as though there was no objective truth or facts. Just everyone’s spin, and they’d just present everyone’s spin unfiltered and unchallenged, and stupidly and lazily would Call that being objective. There is no “balanced” viewpoint on 2+2=4. Just a correct one and incorrect ones. Print journalism seems to be the last bastion of truly objective journalism. But its dying because people lack the attention span to learn abou events in depth, and most people aren’t looking to be educated about events. Just anesthetized. Where they can tune in and just feel good with some one telling them how right they are all the time.
-
It doesn't matter if they get fact checked or not. CNN, MSNBC, and many other left wing news corporations are constantly reporting false or misleading stories. All they care about are views and getting the first impression in. Cause many people will not go back to view correct info even if a correction is made.
-
Just because something doesn’t mesh with how you prefer to see things doesn’t mean it’s false or misleading. That’s YOUR bias at work. No ideology is always right or always wrong. No single viewpoint has a monopoly on good ideas or bad ideas. What is going on right now is not a conflict over ideas, but who gets to have power. The rich have it and don’t want to share it. So the gin up hate and fear over tribal issues to keep people with similar economic interests divided from one another and fighting over crumbs. When the only color the rich care about is green, and the only ideology they care about is unfettered capitalism when they’re out of power and crony capitalism when they have it.

Yes, the freedom of the press is by far the most important facet of our country and any government that attempts to undermine it should not have the support of the American people
-
You forgot about the part where most of the stories printed by mainstream media (especially those with a left wing bias) are verifiably false or misleading. Leaving out key factors and points as well as trying to frame an event a certain way, take words out of context, and spin up a false narrative. CNN itself has even threatened to dox someone over a meme they made. They are an enemy to the public.
-
This “fake news” thing is a narrative Trump has built up in the minds of his supporters for the last 2 years. He automatically labels every piece of media that reports something negative about him as “fake news”. Don’t fall for it. I agree media bias is a thing. CNN is definitely left leaning. Just as FOX is definitely right leaning. Under Obama Fox (and other right wing media) were just as rabid and hyperbolic about Obama as CNN are about Trump. Birther conspiracies, Obama terrorist conspiracies and over the top exaggeration and vitriol aimed at Obama were the norm. But Obama never once called the press “enemy of the people”. That kind of attack on the media is a step too far and is the kind of tactics dictators use. https://www.usnews.com/news/at-the-edge/articles/2017-10-26/trump-propaganda-and-the-destruction-of-the-free-press?context=amp The free press is ABSOLUTELY VITAL for a functioning democracy. It’s purpose is to hold power accountable. Please don’t allow yourself to fall for any politician (left or right) that tries to undermine and limit the free press. You are allowing yourself to become the victim of government propaganda.

Criticizing the media and their shitty unethical practices isn't "suppressing the media". You all make me sick.

Editado por Uncanny_Vale: 10/29/2018 11:27:06 PMDude you’ve got to stop believing whatever Trump and the right wing media tell you. You’re being lied to. I’m not saying go read left wing media - they can be just as bad. Just go to multiple sources and try to find ones that are more moderate or don’t have an agenda. The press are not the enemy - they are people’s greatest tool for holding power accountable.
-
I don't believe everything Trump says and I don't watch right wing media such as Fox News.
I don't believe everything Trump says and I don't watch right wing media such as Fox News.
You obviously believe him when he says the media are the “enemy of the people”.
-
Cause he's right. The media are the ones who've been pushing false narratives, advocating for left wing solutions to issues that should have both sides looked at and have been the ones race baiting.
Cause he's right. The media are the ones who've been pushing false narratives, advocating for left wing solutions to issues that should have both sides looked at and have been the ones race baiting.
You need to learn to look past your political bias and see things a little more objectively. You see “left wing bias” everywhere because that’s what you look for. Meanwhile you ignore the right wing bias and right wing narratives pushed daily by the right. Or rather you don’t see it as bias because it matches your own opinions. Partisan political bias has always existed in media. That’s how democracy works. You can’t expect the media to all agree with your own personal political beliefs. I certainly don’t expect Fox or Breitbart to stop pushing conservative agendas. That’s part of a healthy democracy. Once again stop listening to what politicians say about the media. They have a vested interest in pushing their own narratives. The media doesn’t always go along with that narrative and that’s when politicians turn on the media. Don’t fall for it. It's like you didn't even read my post. My problem with the media is that it is dishonest and misleading and that it has a heavy bias towards left wing solutions to controversial issues and dismiss any other solutions to those problems. They've blatantly lied on air. I don't see left wing bias everywhere cause I want to, I see left wing bias everywhere cause it is everywhere. I obviously understand that there is right wing bias too, but comparing the two is like comparing a bear to an ant. One is exponentially more widespread than the other.

I think you’re a lost cause. I give up.
