I don't think it would have worked. Rifts interact with the Light within Guardians, and Cayde didn't have enough to heal himself after Sidewinder died

You don't need Light to be healed.
-
We don't know that for sure. But i think Rifts work with Guardian's light
-
There is no evidence to support that. You're presenting headcanon as fact.
-
As are you by saying we could have done anything
-
One of the first things we do when we lose our Light is get healed by Ghost. It may not be the be the same as Rift healing, or maybe it is. But do you have any contrary evidence?
-
1) We had our Ghost, which is able to heal us. Cayde's Ghost is GONE. Rifts simply expedite what we already heal. 2) Ghost notes that he can heal us, but that he can't bring us back. Presumably, Cayde's on the wrong side of the line regardless, given that Ghost notes there's nothing he can do
-
This isn't about whether not Cayde could saved. This is about you saying you have to have Light to be healed.
-
The main thing is that Rift only effects other Lighted beings (doesn't heal or boost Spider's assistants, or the Awoken Corsairs, for example)
-
It won't affect non-player Guardians such as Slone, Ana, or Asher either because they are NPCs. It's merely a gameplay contrivance.
-
That is tougher to say, though. Because we never see them in action. It might, but they have no visible HP bar or active attacks. Whereas the Spider's associates and Corsairs do actively do things
