Um... Take it from a guy who has studied the human condition quite extensively and has logged over 4,000 clinical hours as a psychologist.
Hear me out, I’m not saying you should give up your identity or just put on a mask to be different so you can be accepted but truthfully the way you present yourself as a man definitely will impact you socially. It’s one thing to like Destiny and talk to others about destiny that are involved in the destiny community. It’s another thing to wear a backpack, day after day, that could give people a bad impression of you. A grown man, which you are, is expected to be more life goal oriented and to have it “together”.
If you have aspirations in the realm of social interactions with females, then the backpack could also be a hinderance. Some, perhaps few is a better word, females enjoy video games and even fewer like to spend time with males while they are playing video games. That’s a factor.
In the long run, you would do better, socially, if you didn’t listen to the majority here on this forum because you could be taking advice from people who are living in their mothers basement at age 34 and eating hot pockets all day while collecting disability for social anxiety disorder.
I’m a grown man of 41, living an active life, making a difference in the world with a beautiful family, house, cars etc and play Destiny as a hobby 3-4 days a week usually for a few hours. I’m not 600 on any character. I’ve never done a raid in D2, although I completed the first few in D1 but decided the time sink wasn’t worth the rewards. I’m giving you this background info only as a reference point because I know that doesn’t, and I don’t need it to, but you might put a higher value on the game than I and I’m not your boss or friend even and I’m only saying this stuff to give you my alternate, informed, and educated opinion which is contrary to many others posted.
Thank you for reading this and I hope that whatever you choose, that you have a very good time at college.
My pick: Black backpack. Black implies strength, dependability and confidence.

One thing I have to mention. I did read the post but I just cannot take you seriously with that username. But I am aware of self control. My parents will scold me if I play too long which is why I probably play for about 2 hours on weekdays and 5 hours on the weekends. I know it still sounds like quite a while but I have younger brothers that also want to play on the PS4 that complain that I’ve been playing too long. So there is no chance that I could get away with playing the entire day UNLESS I set a specific day in which I’m doing a raid.
