The moment exotics dropped like candy and every exotic was basically worthless (and many of them still are so casual 1 doesn't cry to casual 2 that their pretty yellow jacket is better than their pretty yellow rocket launcher) the playerbase plummeted to less than 300k and barely managed to upkeep 400k-500k.
Literally anything, even listening to streamers is better than appealing to the casuals that pick up the game, bitch for a week then leave like they do every game.
Another note is to stop perpetuating this myth about streamers in D2. Destiny barely breaks the top #10 on Twitch and struggles past 20k. Streaming is dead in the water when it comes to Destiny. There's only like a .001% of the community that even pays attention to streamers meaning there is virtually no audience within Twitch for Bungie to change the game for.

-
There were many factors to the drop in playerbase following D2's awful launch. The exotic rate being too high falls under the casualization section of the game. Such as hitting max light too fast, not enough activities, lack of any endgame then Destiny tracker decided they wanted to throw their graphs away because they can't shill hard enough when the game is failing so there's that. Not to mention publication among publication voicing grievances with the game. Were exotics the primary factor? No. Were they are part of the problem? Yes.
-
Now that is a full answer that I would completely agree with.
-
You are confusing lack of content with gated content. If you can't recognize both, you don't represent me at any summit..
-
In my case the game still heavily lacks content. Things are tied to an arbitrary number and most of the armor is practically cosmetic. What little gated content they have (in the form of two exotics) is so miniscule and so much of a non-issue to the bigger picture at hand.

The vast majority of players are in the same place we were before forsaken. You like that God rolled pulse? Luna to the face.
-
If we're going to talk PvP a pulse still wins at effective range so I don't really see what we're getting at with this statement.
-
Why would anyone use a hand cannon outside its range? I have no desire to play semantics.
-
I'm sorry but I have no context. You mentioned something about pre-forsaken that has nothing to do about my post relating to game mechanics and how casual passive progression harms the game more than it helps it then I see your comment about something relating to Luna's? Wrong thread perhaps?
-
Does that usually work for you? Kinda lame.
-
I generally don't derail threads with topics that have nothing to do with the subject at hand so it works fine. Feel free to argue with the K/D kids about the Luna's Howl in the crucible section.

Little things matter. People can be a casual and a completionist at the same time. I'm just upset that Bungie jumped on the season bandwagon and locked out a lot people to a lot of loot.
-
I don't mind things being made easier and more accessible for more players. It's just baffling that Bungie built the game from the bottom up instead of top down. In any case there are now rumors of Destiny 3 that will basically nullify all our feedback once again and leave Bungie to their own devices.
-
I think the fix to this game is simple. Get rid of seasons and let everyone unlock everything at their own pace. I'm happy that Bungie is working their butt off to make content and loot, now let's just give everyone an opportunity to earn it.
-
Generally I would disagree but this is the one game I have to agree with that sentiment mostly due to the fact that the game is going to be dumpstered the moment its sequel comes by so whats the point of locking everyone out of the content and loot.
-
Right. I have people argue that all the content will be available once the game dies. I say make it all available now. Not everyone is going to have all the loot right away like all the no-life players claim. That way the casuals most likely always have something to grind for and the snowflakes that play everyday can still flaunt their gear.
