I would love to be rid if this useless piece of metal, he consistently messes stuff up for the dumbest of reasons, the writing for his dialogue is consistently worthless and boring, and worse yet he is a character that is supposed to be our guide through the universe and yet seems to consistently know next to nothing.
He is a terribly written character, and no matter how many times they change voice actors, it wont fix this issue.

Then kill him and time how long you survive in the wild. Put on the lowest level gear possible and try making it through each and every location in the game without dying once and without using your abilities

Editado por Nickel7Dime: 10/22/2018 2:55:28 AMSeeing as i killed a hive god, i will just go to toland and have him teach me how to properly use a throne world, problem solved. Or go to osiris and have him teach you how to make copies and just use those. You can actually survive without your ghost, but i guess most dont know that since your ghost is incapable of telling you actually interesting and useful information. This is not to mention that the ghost could just as easily be replaced with some kind of non verbal power, you know the same kind of magic power that brings us back to life in no respawn zones. Also people have already done what you have suggested, at least throughout D1. Also the ghost doesnt give us our powers, that is the light inside of us. Technically the two are connected in a way, but your ghost being gone wont get rid of your powers, you just cant freely revive.
-
First you have to find Toland and Osiris, that means delving into the infinite forest and the acendent realm
-
Editado por Nickel7Dime: 10/22/2018 2:56:19 AMAlready been there. So ghost no longer needed. And toland could just find you, since he seems to have some kind of all seeing ability.
-
But you need to get though the Forrest without your light
-
This also doesnt change the fact that the ghost could just as easily be replaced by some other magic that we have directly in us. There is a whole lot of mechanics that dont technically work with the lore, such as needing people to revive you, which they shouldnt be able to do.
-
Your bound to your Ghost, other people can't revive you, only speed up the process by supporting your Ghost with their light
-
And yet in things like hard raids in D1 they couldnt revive you, then your entire team dies, it says your light was lost, and magically you are all back to life. The necessity of game mechanics breaks attempts at having this kind of lore, which is why lore never fully applies. Meaning if our character wants to revive, then they do, because they have a power far greater than anything known as being the protagonist. It would be just as easy to replace the ghost with any number of powers, even with using the lore. Remember that something would always have to revive us that first time, it would not nevissarily need to be a ghost, the traveller itself could just do it. The ghost are just a tool, a replaceable one.
-
I don't think the traveler is a necromancer
-
Do you not know where the ghosts and their powers come from?
-
Yes... The Traveler. But just because Crota came from Oryx doesn't mean he can take
-
That is because crota wasnt made with taken power. Also your comparison doesnt work, you are taking the lesser and saying it cant do what the great can, which is of course true. The ghosts are not the greater, they are the lesser. In other words the proper comparison is that oryx can do everything crota can. Just as the traveller (the one that presumably make the light and has full possession of it), can do everything the ghosts can do. The ghosts are also not some child, they do not go off and gain their own powers, there powers come from the traveller, and only the traveller. Therefore, the ghosts cannot posses any powers outside of the travellers abilities. The ghosts are literally pieces/apart of the traveller, very different from a child.

ALRIGHT! FINE! KILL THE BASTARD AND SHUT UP!
-
Touchy?
-
No just.. very stressed, sorry I didn't mean to blow up on you like that
-
Thats ok. I mean i dont mind if some people like the ghost and want to keep him. But there are ways to replace him if people and bungie wanted to. I wouldnt mind at all if they kept him around, so long as he was written better. There are points where the writing is decent, but a whole lot where it is very bad, which is not good when it is the character who is your companion throughout the entire game and has like 80 percent of the dialogue of the game. It always seemed like he was supposed to be designed as your guide, that he was supposed to do things like teach you about these races of aliens that you dont know the first thing about. But instead he more often than not either gives rather useless information, or just doesnt know anything. At first i thought this was meant to demonstrate that the ghosts actually dont have any kind of extra knowledge from the traveller and such, and yet every other ghost seems to know tons of stuff that ours has no clue about. Such as other ghosts knew what the red legion was, even though the owner of the ghosts didnt know that information. Just kind seems like our ghosts should be our wise guide, but instead spends most of the time bumbling about and setting off alarms.
-
I feel like he would work a lot better if our Guardian spoke as much as he does
-
That as well is an issue. Having a second person talk can help to cover up the lack of information. But when your ghosts is really the only one talking, then a lot more falls onto its shoulders in terms of conveying information. That being said i dont think a silent protagonist with a chatty side kick can work very well, bungie just doesnt seem to know how to write that, unfortunately. Which seems odd since they did a pretty good job with a mostly silent protagonist in halo, but that didnt end up translating well. Then again in halo the contrast was more so meant to be that your character was more machine like than human, and your AI companion acted far more human. Destiny didnt have any of this type of contrast, and so the combination doesnt end up working very well.

Pretty easy seeing as osiris has control of part of the forest. We saw this throughout CoO.
-
But it's no walk in the park
-
Door opens, run in, and done. So a run in the park for a very short distance.
