Shotguns are annoying. It's incredibly aggravating to unload half a mag into someone as they run directly into your gunfire, kill you with a shotgun, and run away.
There used to be a day when fusion rifles were feared. Because they were good. Bungie has done nothing but neuter them since everyone cried their eyes out about them way back at the launch of D1. But they have a role to fill in the Crucible that is currently vacant (mid-close range devastation). SMGs could be a serious contender in that sweet spot as well if they weren't god awful.
Fusions are so inconsistent it's painful. High fire rate fusions are literally laughable. In most games mastering SMGs is about controlling vertical recoil. In Destiny they have this weird all-over-the-place recoil pattern that is impossible to predict, making it very hard to land consistent crits.
Fusions. SMGs. Give them some pvp love Bungie. Don't create any monsters as you are so prone to doing. But I want the joy of whipping out my fusion in the face of that hunter who is jump/slide dancing towards me with his shotgun and melting his frail little body into a sad cloud of static. I do miss it.

I agree shotguns nerf nerfed, but not by buffing other weapons (The only weapon I see needing any buff are the scouts but that's not what this topic is about). If the shotguns were nerfed a bit, I think most close range combat would be somewhat equal. By buffing other weapons to compete with those that are currently a bit overpowered it will start over-turning the balance between close range and ranged weaponry within a game.

5 RespuestasAs somebody who runs fusions and smg’s. They do not need a buff. Shotguns are just fine where they are and with the exception of Chaperone are easily countered.

The problem with shotguns is they have crazy range. And if you miss the first you can just pull the trigger again. Fusions take much more thought since there's no way you're pulling off another shot if you don't kill with the first one. I would like to see a little range cut off shotguns, or maybe even keep them from being OHK unless you are RIGHT on top. I mean, how hard is it to follow up a shotgun with a quick melee to kill? I also wish hot swap was back. That was a DIRTY perk for fusions that I ran constantly on my Saladin's Vigil in D1. Been using a Wizened Rebuke with Backup plan, but that is REALLY situational. Telesto is a beast though if you don't mind losing your exotic.

1 RespuestaBring your resilience up to around 5 or 6. It really does help against shotguns. You don't get one hit killed from further ranges. I hate using my warlock in pvp because he has no new armor that boosts resilience at all. But my titan is a beast. His resilience is in a good spot. I think my hunter is pretty decent as well. I'm not saying I can't do well with my warlock. I feel like I got to play more defensively with him. I got to pick my engagements extra carefully.

1 RespuestaI think Fusions are already decent at the moment which is why I use them. Erentil with Backup Plan is an absolute monster. Although a buff is always welcome. Shotguns will always be annoying in any multiplayer game tbh. They've always been very noob-friendly.

The forsaken SMGs actually shred a bit above what their stats read. They don’t really need to buff or nerf anything. Just make some minor adjustments. All they need to do is two things: 1) Reduce hit registration RNG on certain classes of hand cannons, and most fusion rifles. 2) Reduce shotgun OHK range and have a proper accuracy penalty for sliding / sliding + hip firing. If they follow through with actually fixing scout rifles, esp high impact slow firing, it will be a bit more difficult for the apes who, right now, are pretty much comfortable rushing and sliding in with shottys knowing there’s no way you can stop them from closing the distance on these maps.
