Dunno, played a couple of matches of gambit and didn't feel gimped being ahead and summoning first. Then again we took our time killing the witches and all focused on the invaders. After that... we burned and won. If they summoned first, a good invader go in and slow them down as fast as they can alllowing your team to catch up. That is how I see it anways.
