So I’m doing strikes, grinding for my Coldheart Catalyst, when I see a name I haven’t thought about in a while: “acquired Merciless masterwork catalyst.” Now there’s some nostalgia for the one-time king of boss DPS. So I pull it out of Collections, and give it a whirl:
For a magazine and a half before I have to stop. Even when it was a Heavy weapon Merciless had ammo problems, but this is just absurd. 14 total shots max? 4 per special brick? Come on, my dudes. That’s just rude. Bring it up to the level of the average shotgun or something, sheesh. Is 24 total capacity and maybe 6 per drop too much to ask?

3 Respuestaswhy dont you try having gear that stacks ammo (reserve/ scavenger)

2 RespuestasJust chiming in here. Yeah I agree that it's a very underpowered weapon as is. It most definitely should outdps telesto.

It needs either to carry 30 or get a buff, maybe it should carry 30 and be a legendary

I remember when it was a go too weapon Then the catalist came out in strikes and I never got it Thus I stoppedusing it Now in forssaken I get the catalyst and... Vault.

9 RespuestasIt needs more damage. It's so weak right now.

I'm not necessarily opposed to an ammo reserve increase but I understand why they set it at 14. The common issue isn't the ammo. It's a lack of target prioritization and not utilizing Impetus. No other fusion has 8 rounds in the mag. And no other fusion rifle has Kill Clip (Impetus on Merciless). The idea is to take out any add with one shot, reload, then target a major or boss with Impetus active. But what happens is that players blow through the 8 rounds then reload, and are left with 6 rounds in the mag and nothing in reserve to activate Impetus. Obviously, more rounds in reserve would help but that won't fix players not making the most of Impetus. If you want to consider more of a buff, Bungie needs to make high impact fusion rifles kill in 4-bolts again. Their damage was nerfed with the move from Power to Energy. Merciless probably got hit the hardest. Before Forsaken, I could regularly drop a Guardian in the Super with one well placed shot and it was usually a consistent 4-bolt kill on a normal Guardian. Now it takes 5-bolts (same as Precision and Adaptive Frames), and only takes out half of a Super's SHIELD. They took the hardest hitting fusion in the game and destroyed it with the release of Forsaken.

2 RespuestasI could be wrong but doesn't the catalyst give you more rounds? not sure for that got tabled on finishing cause Forsaken launched.
