Get rid of negative progress in Competitive Crucible

I've had it with going backwards Bungie. 3 against 4 we lose I go negative in my ranking. How can I get Luna's Howl with this BS in the quest. I can see no points with a lose and points with a win. With Trails on hold how can an average joe play against pro teams who are practicing on us and killing us. One more thing Breakthrough is the worst game I have every played.

  • It's so much bullshit when I go into a competitive match and a random leaves. When that happens I'm punished for their idiocy. It happens often and makes gaining rank impossible.

  • lunas is obtainable for anyone that puts the time in. not forgotten is not. win 1 lose 1 after 2100 and you have 10 points less than when you started. im average at best i got lunas in the 1st 2 weeks

  • Luna's howl is not meant for the average Joe, gotta work for that monster. Took my fireteam 4 days so you can do it, plenty of time left in the season

    They need to switch it to a level lock out system ie Hearthstone, that concept works well. You can still lose points on a loss but never go lower than your last level achieved. For example, you hit level 3, get half way to 4, then have a bad loss streak. However, once you drop back to level 3, even if you keep losing you cant go lower than 3. So theres still that struggle of an upward climb, but checkpoints along the way, so if you have a particularly bad day (shite matchups, bad connections, etc) you arent drop kicked back to 0 in a matter of a few hours Would also make for better match making more oftem with more distinct tiers, and it would still maintain increasing difficulty as youll get matched with better players in higher tiers

    • People who are delusional and have all the time to sit in their basement and play destiny 2 need to understand that wanting negative points gone doesn't mean wanting participation points for losing. They can even make ranking system longer like in gambit.

    • Players need to accept that: A. They are not going to get everything B. Just because its a game doesn't mean stuff should be handed to you. Thats not how the world works C. There will always be something everywhere in life that requires effort and that is good D. The game isn't going to always change to meet their desires E. This is one of the best places Destiny has been in (still not as good of a place as Taken King and Age of Triumph though)

        • The backwards progress is perfectly fine, because otherwise, there is no need for there to even be a Glory rank; it's just Valor in a different play list at that point. More to the point, I think the point totals need to be adjusted to be more realistic. My personal opinion is that everyone that is average or better in Crucible should be able to achieve the first tier reward of Luna's Howl (or whatever may come next). Not Forgotten is drastically better in some respects, and if you want that weapon, I believe you need to sweat your nuts off (for those not familiar, Not Forgotten sacrifices some stability and handling for a very healthy boost to range, which makes this gun much more versatile). I personally think the amount of points you lose should be tiered by rank. The higher you go, the more points you lose per match, to the point where rank 4 players are at a near-zero-sum position (there are x points in a match, and winner takes all of them). I would also like to see a system of loss insulation come into play; everyone gets one hour per day (per account) of 100% insulated losses, in the form of a Warm-Up buff; during this time, losses have no consequence on ranking. Additionally, each day, matches can have a secondary objective (most kills, most Obj point, longest life, best efficiency, etc). The person at the top of that list on the losing team is 100% insulated for that match. Second is 75% insulated, and third is 50% insulated; all other lose full points as normal. If you are insulated in a match, you -cannot- be insulated in the next match, so either win it, or lose points; this allows individual skill and contribution to help you, even on a loss. I would also like to see boosters drop for points. Small, medium, and large varieties, all drop-only; streak wins have a 10% higher chance to get one. The booster must be used in the first 5 minutes of a match. If you win the match, you get 50%, 100%, and 150% more points than normal, respectively, including streak bonuses. These items have reduced functionality after rank 3 and none after rank 4. They can be exchanged for set amounts of Crucible token, so even ranking out of them still gives them some use.

          • At first i tought it was just poor garbage matchmaking but then i realized, theres just none at all. Im just here loading into a Comp for Weeklies and thnking hey, maybe i can start grinding for that lunas howl, maybe after a whole season ill get there... i didnt play D2 since 1st week of curse of osiris , and didnt even play comp before that, so its not because i have a lingering MMR of some sort. So im at like 200comp rating valor thingy, i load into an already started game 4solos on my side, not all lvl 50s, and we are versus a 4 man stack , 2 have lunas howl and 2 have the not forgotten... Good job bungo, very intelligent, much brillant, very sense, such balance. Not crayon in nose at all. Ive seen Early access free games with less balatent not giving a -blam!- about any kind of balance or common sense. ATLEAST if those kinda game, or losing didnt lose you points, you could just cringe and launch the next one, and actually grind, but no, the next game someone dcs and its 90% you get the same matchup or some other bullshit.

          • -blam!- Luna, I want the one after that. It looks way better. I wish it was the night fall rank reward instead of that shotgun. Or hell...get 100,000 plus on all the nightfall strikes and get a similar looking weapons. .....guess I'm asking for options. Doesn't have to be the exact rolls as the comp weapons, just somewhat the same look with godly pve rolls. That's not too much to ask for.

          • They already got rid of losing streaks. It sucks to lose progress yeah, but it's COMPETITIVE. You don't get friggin points for trying. You don't rewarded for putting in effort, or time. This weapon, and this playlist is for people who earn it by either A) carrying teams to victory more than they lose OR B) lucking out and winning even though you didn't carry any of your games.... For three ranks. Also there's matchmaking, so even though you may lose a lot, the gameplay should feel fair in most rounds, if not than THAT is the problem, not the system of losing points.

          • You sound like such a casual in this post. I spent over 3 weeks grinding for this gun. I had my angery moments *I misspelled it on purpose, spelling dweebs*, had some happy moments, even had moments where I lost hundreds of points straight. I got the gun now and I am in love with it. Moral of the story is that you need to get a good team, earn points, and get good. Removing point reduction would make the way too easy and everyone would have Luna's and Not Forgotten.

                This community is so full of snowflakes it's unreal. It's a COMPETITIVE game mode that goes off a players skill rather than how much free time they have.

                  • The point of competitive is to gain points for a win and lose points for a loss. Otherwise, what the heck is the point of glory? Make it less punitive if you want, but don’t take away the entire point of glory.

                  • if the other team is partied up or its a 3v4 or there 100 comp more then you you shouldn't lose rank when you lose but if its randoms and its 4v4 and your the same comp then if you lose you lose 25 comp

                  • I agree so much. Was in Competitive yesterday, Game Mode was Survival, and I had one team mate who jumped off the edge of the map repeatedly wasting our respawns. I reported him for sabotage but I'm not holding my breath.

                        • There should be competitive bounties like Iron Banner. It won’t make things drastically better, but it will alleviate SOME of the time — if you have the individual skill to pull off the requirements of the bounties you’d get rewarded for that personal skill. So even if your team as a whole ends up being quitters as soon as 1 round ends, you still made some progress for the headache.

                            As mean as it seems, not everyone will get all weapons. Just like I wont get much raid gear because i don’t like raids. Having comp exclusive gear and making it that difficult to get just makes it more rewarding to have. If everyone had it, would you appreciate it as much?

                          • That, uh, not how competitive works. It kind of has to be a zero sum game. I'm normally all for the de-sweatification of PVP modes, but that's the dedicated sweaty mode.

                          • Nah after a few horrible days going solo Bungie needs to lock out solos from comp. There's way too many people throwing matches, jumping off maps, going afk in spawn and leaving or just to get their 25 matches in while doing -blam!- all. I'm going to give in and advocate for fire teams only. It needs to happen. Solo players are actually ruining comp IMO
