If they added a skill based tier system to the matchmaking aspect, comp would work better. Solo guardians with low kd get matched together. Middle ground guardians get matched together. Top guardians get matched together. A person would have to improve their kd to graduate to the next level. Anyone going solo would automatically be fed into the system. This way, you wouldn't have hungry try hards mowing down casual solos with less skill. As for teams, if you take a group with mixed kd, you send them into the level borne out by their average as a group. If they destroy their opponents, bump them up a level, or vice versa. Moral of the story: Make the improvements to matchmaking that you've been promising, Bungie.

  • Bungie's sbmm doesn't work like that. Low KD players don't only get matched with other low K/D players. It averages team skill. You might have 2 high K/D players + 1 average K/D player + 1 low K/D player on 1 team vs 2 high K/D players + 1 average K/D player + 1 low K/D player on the other team. Low k/d players get the floor mopped with them no matter what. Matching by glory is the closest thing we have to a Halo 2 style ranking system, which IMO is the best determination of team skill. Individual skill is trumped by teamwork. I love it.

  • Teamwork is great, no matter what situation you're going in to. But what about when someone wants to grind when their buddies aren't on? You get what you're given. I'm not great at Crucible, but I enjoy both solo and team play. I would simply like to see everyone get a chance to play with their own skill level. I can't work on tactics and techniques when I'm being mowed down every 25 seconds. If you can have balanced matches to get your bearings and improve yourself, the end result is more skilled players in a more hectic and fun environment. You can't tell people to get better if there is no environment in which to do so.
