Chess themed cars and my son, who is about to be 10 and is very into chess, wants me to buy them for him so we can play.
So I have been on the hunt for these cars and found most of them and a buddy who is a Hot Wheels Hunter has found a friend who has the rest and is willing to trade them to me for a few old motorcycle Hot Wheels I have like 50-70 of, because when they were first released, I bought 2 and everyone and their dog also bought me a few, so I really don't need them, lol.
Anyways, I am tired and rambling sorry, I was looking at the chess board and I realized the cars were too large. So now I am thinking that I might just go have a custom chess board made for him. Make the squares into rectangles with slightly raised pieces between each square to keep the cars in place. Have the horizontal pieces be white lines like you see at a stop light and have the vertical lines be yellow like on the side of the road. The black squares can look like blacktop highway and the white squares can be grey like concrete highway, both with broken yellow lines running down the center.
I also have an old Pelican type case that has all the foam still. Figure I can make the spots for each car, then a thin foam layer to protect the cars from the board.
If you were a kid who was into chess and Hot Wheels, would you like this for X-Mas?

1 RespuestaThis is quite possibly the most ambitious and beautiful project I’ve ever heard of.
-
1 RespuestaThis is a little late but I think that is a great idea. Would have loved it if my dad did something like that when I was kid.

1 RespuestaThat sounds interesting, I got a Star Wars chest set, 20 years old but I don't care, I'll take that thing out in public and play people
-
1 RespuestaI would have loved that for xmas when I was a kid. You could do the board in pavement grey, and use yellow lines to mark the boundaries of the squares, like lines on a road. And at either end of each board, have white lines like parking spots. Put the numbers and letters in like reserved parking spots.
