What the hell happened to innocent until proven guilty?
1. This is not a criminal prosecution. Kavanaugh isn't looking at being sent to prison, so the presumption of "innocence" does not really apply here.
2. You guys REALLY need to drop this notion of EVERYONE but MY guy is lying. Because it really makes you look-and-sound like you're crazy...and that you refuse to operate in a fact based universe. I was prepared to let this whole thing leave a bad taste in my mouth and chalk it all up to "Anita Hill 2.0" when it was simply ONE accuser and it was "He said/She said".
But now we are up to 4 accusers, and the notion that four women would just **suddenly** start telling the same lie about the guy are slim to none.
It took me---as a guy----DECADES to understand why women hesitate to come forward....but (with all due respect) YOUR REACTION is precisely why the dont'. They don't think they'll be believed. They believe they'll be attacked and (further shamed and humiliated) if its a person of power or priviliege that they are accusing (Ford is getting death threats). So they feel its just easier to stay quiet and suffer in silence.
But what almost always happens in these situations is that someone who is willing to behave like that once....usually has a pattern of such behavior...and when ONE victim shows the courage to suffer the public backlash, this emboldens others who were his victims to come forward as well.
3. Things aren't witch hunts when they turn up actual evil doers.
4. This is a man who is about to be offered a job with a LIFE TIME APPOINTMENT (he can only be removed from office via IMPEACHMENT....like a President)....who will decide many issues that govern the lives of minorities and women for the next generation. Including if women will decide what they do with their bodies....or whether RELIGION will decide for them.
...and some of us are not comfortable with someone having that power, who now has four women accusing him of not respecting their basic human rights to be free from violence.
So at this point he is disqualified from the position in my opinion...despite my initial wish to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Also I can't feel much in the way of sympathy for him since he never would have been in this position if he hadn't been willing to take a position that had been stolen from the previous President.
Worst case scenario.....Democrats had a Supreme Court appointment stolen from them through shameless political hardball (Republicans blocked the process, then as soon as they were in power removed the ability of Democrats to do the same to them).
So now Democrats are returning the favor in a season where it looks like they will win back the Senate.
Either you respect the process...or you don't. It doesn't go "YOU need to respect the process, while WE do whatever the -blam!- we want".

Good thing kavanaugh is accepted in. There’s no reason he shouldn’t be, all the witnesses say it didn’t happen so there’s nothing more that can go on.
-
Smh. Like I said. Unwilling to live in a fact-based universe....
-
I’m unwilling to live in a fact based universe yet I’m going off of what’s on the table which are the facts? If she has no good evidence and all her witnesses and friends say it didn’t happen then wtf? Believing her would be believing the lies. Or is it just because she’s a women which is why you believe her? Stop acting on feelings and go off of what cards are on the table.

Editado por TheArtist: 9/28/2018 10:26:24 PM1. There has been no formal investigation. 2. Other that the victims themselves and Kavanaugh, no one has made any sworn statements. People lie to the media every day. Especially when they have every reason to want to avoid getting pulled into the shitstorm this is turning into. 3. Right now all you have is a mounting number of accusers who are highly unlikely to be lying... and Conservatives who are trying to ramrod this guy through to complete their theft of a Supreme Court seat. IOWs Ends-Justifies-The-Means Power politics.

On 2, the witnesses and Judge have made sworn statements already and did so prior to the hearing yesterday. They have all said they have no memory of any such party and Ford's friend even said that she doesn't/never did know Kavanaugh and doesn't remember ever being at a party with him. As far as the mounting number of accusers, what makes you think they're unlikely to be lying? One of them doesn't even accuse Kavanaugh of anything other than allegedly being at a party where gang -blam!- supposedly occurred. The other, if you look at the details around her claim, make her very hard to believe. (she's admitted she was very drunk, has gaps in her memory, wasn't fully convinced it was Kavanaugh that exposed himself until after almost a week of "assessing her memories" and working with her lawyer.....)

The accusers are unlikely to be lying yet when they come forward and testify (like they have already done) they can’t even give proof and remember what happened. It’s called innocent until proven guilty. NOT Guilty until proven innocent. Get real. Trump has ordered an FBI investigation into kavanaugh, just earlier. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/09/28/senate-gop-leaders-agree-to-seek-additional-fbi-background-investigation-into-brett-kavanaugh-before-final-vote.amp.html

Editado por TheArtist: 9/28/2018 10:42:24 PM1. This is not a criminal trial and the standard is not beyond a reasonable doubt. 2. This is a process to determine if the man has the character for the job that guarantees lifetime employment unless he is impeached. IOW if he is someone we want determining our path as a nation for a generation. Right now, this man is basically radioactive unless you live in conservative bizarro-world. Believe I have no illusions about the purity of Democratic motives here. This is clearly being used as a weapon and it was made public at a time to maximize its impact. But at the end of the day these women have nothing to gain by lying—-except their lives ruined——and it’s absurd to think they would all lie about the same thing. Clarence Thomas was the exception. There was only one Anita Hill. What is almost always the case is where there is one victim there is there is a trail of them. Like Bill Cosby, all it takes is one with the courage to break the silence and not bow to the public shaming to finally get the the dam to break. We’re seeing the dam break here. Go ahead and stick your head in the sand. It’s what you do. Don’t be surprised if more victims keep turning up.

All it takes is 1 women and everything turns to shit. Doesn’t matter if she’s telling the truth or lying, gotta believe the women right? Disgusting disgrace. You are dumber than EA.

Editado por TheArtist: 9/28/2018 10:49:22 PMWow. Your mother must be so proud... The gamertag makes a lot more sense now. The accusers have nothing gain by lying. Kavanaugh has everything to gain by doing so. I’m willing to write off the Blasey Ford situation to him simply being an asshole kid. The other accusations are from when he was old enough to know better.

Well according to you and your facts, if I was a woman and accused you of sexually assaulting me even tho I have no good proof, you should be punished right? Right?? Stupid democrat.
