it’s so demoralizing wasting time for a powerful drop and it’s lower than what’s in the slot

it seriously makes me not what to play anymore - what’s the point of the “grind” if all you do across 3 characters is get slapped in the face by piss poor rng left and right even after trying to maximize drops and plan carefully? i feel like an idiot playing this game chasing my tail when there’s not even protection in place for this kinda of stuff i don’t know it doesn’t make sense to me

You must be new to the grind. Powerful gear will drop at or higher than your current power level. For example, if my character is 520 and my primary weapon is at 526, a powerful reward primary weapon could be 525. That might not be great for my primary, but you probably have some lower gear where a 525 level Engram would have helped... and unfortunately the category of drop (primary, secondary, heavy, helmet, arms, chest, legs or class item) is completely random. You probably have a 516 power weapon in tandem with that 526 primary. So whilst it might suck on occasion, keep doing activities for powerful gear and you will definitely gradually level up. Fortunately there are several ways of earning powerful gear now, so this isn't a big deal. You have Daily and Weekly challenges, clan rewards, and Prime Engrams that refresh daily and stack up.
