Forced PVP Is an Upsetting slap in the face

I, too, object to being forced to PvP

319

I like PvP, come be my fodder and stop whinging

67

I like playing both aspects of the game

417

Why is it that I have received 2 new exotic weapon quests, and both require me to play PVP? I will be the first to admit that I am not good at PVP. I don't enjoy it, and have only ever participated for powerful gear drops while leveling. Being forced to play PvP to obtain weapons is such an upset to me, and I truly cannot understand why I am being forced to do so. I play Destiny for the PvE and raiding, and to play with my friends. Some of my friends do play PvP and are pretty decent at it, but I am not, and everything I am forced t do in PvP is a massive time consuming grind that frustrates and antagonizes me, taking all joy from the game from me. For a game that seems to be adding in so much more PvE grind, activities and fun, forced PvP is just frustrating. Why not a simple and/or option for weapon quests? 5 invader kills or 5 strike bosses etc? Please Bungie, stop forcing me to participate in a part of the game that I did not purchase the main game for, and that I do not enjoy, and that frankly I am at an extreme disadvantage to do, not to mention a detriment to any teem unlucky enough to get me as a member.

  • I refuse to play pvp in this game or really any online game because I am fed up with all the toxic people turning something that should be fun into a dick-wagging contest. I used to be into things like LoL, but the toxicity killed it for me. Also this is NOT the game for pvp. Some may disagree with this but we are supposed to be GUARDIANS not 12-year-old children fighting each other. Anyway that's my take on it. I hate that I'll never get the Ace of Spades or any of the other cool exotic items only available through pvp, but that's just how it is nowadays. All the complaining in the world won't change it. I think that there needs to at least be equal incentive to play pve and pvp, but it is definitely not equal right now considering most of the best rewards come from pvp. I used to be a raider in WoW, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. Can you imagine if pvp was the only way to get the best possible gear for your current raid-tier? The backlash would be crazy. To some extent there is no difference in what is happening in Destiny 2.

  • I feel the same way i refuse to play crucible and if that means not getting the exotics then so be it. We pve players need to stop participating in the the crucible show bungie that no we will not participate we will not populate the crucible.

    • To solve this kind of problem, a requirement that requires kills in PVP should have an alternate requirement in PVE that is equally as hard to obtain. Same goes the other way as well. This way both parties are satisfied and nobody has to suffer a game mode they do not like. I am sure it can be done with a bit of additional coding. I personally hate PVP but do like to play it from time to time. However, I should not have to play it for some requirement to achieve something. I am sure the argument goes both ways... a PVP player may hate doing the Raid. So why not let him have his own game mode to acquire his objectives.

      • It sucks when you’re on the team of people who are trash at pvp and only playing it for quests/powerful engrams. Gambit is the same for now because of AoS. Both pvp and pve players suffer because of Bungie’s Unimaginative, tedious quest steps. If the game didn’t severely lack pve content maybe they could’ve thought of something different to have us do. Why they chose to essentially sabotage their new game type gambit with people queuing to solely complete the quest and ignore the objective I’ll never understand.

      •
Why not a simple and/or option for weapon quests? 5 invader kills or 5 strike bosses etc?
Interested to note that the invader kills requirement is now being treated as a known issue in the latest weekly update. I like gambit fwiw and will be playing a bit, but killing five invaders with a hand cannon is a punishingly difficult quest requirement by any standards.

      • I’d much rather the option of completing objectives in either PVE or PVP. Weapons like the claymore should stay PVP only though.

      • I dont like/play pvp games in general but I just deal with it. I cant imagine people who solely play pvp enjoy grinding out a but load of kills in pvp. It's not a challenge just dull

      • You are absolutely not being forced to PvP, you're being asked to complete two very simple challenges that take no more than a couple of games to get one of the best exotics currently in the game. These posts flooding the forums of people crying about "being forced to PvP" are getting very old, very quick. It's not the Redrix's Claymore grind, it's literally 5 kills in gambit and 25 head shots in whatever crucible mode you want.

      • I am really surprised people don't see it. Basically any game mode that has low player count bungie does whatever they can to push people towards it. Someone paying attention to pvp numbers can say one way or another, but i am sure the % for pvp is low and the same goes for eververse. basically they dangle that carrot in front of people all knowing people will go after it, but it does have one weakness. If you don't do the activity then they see the numbers and hopefully get a clue, but that is doubtful. just have to have self control and not be tempted by that nice new shiny :)

          • But Bungie built a PvP game. Want proof (other than the PvP requirement to finish almost every quest)? Look at Hawthorne’s daily bounties. For the first 2 days at least (I didn’t look today) 2 of the 3 were for PvP. Bungie is basically saying 2/3 of this game is PvP.

Crucible is total balls now, and a LOT of peopIe have stopped playing it, so I guess Bungie have made Hawthorne’s bounties so pvp_based to try to force people back into it.

I've been playing Strikes, Patrolling the Dreaming City a ton underleveled cause it be fun, I binge Gambit today, and it's a flavor I love, and I'm currently spamming competitive to get control to finish a bounty. It's not that bad.

              • No none of the above option I see. PvP is not my favorite thing in the world, but exotic quests have frequently required PvP since day one of D1. This is not new, and I don't think it's unfair. A pain, yes. Not unfair.

And there are PvP players who are pissed that they have to play PvE. Ultimately both are part of the game. Should the Ace of Spades require it? Maybe not. In the end, there will be things for both sides of the spectrum that - if they want to aquire - they will have to do something they dislike and/or don't usually do. My biggest suggestion to you is play PvP more often. Practice makes perfect (or so they say). Either way, more play time will help you get the feel of and get better at it. Same as someone learning the Raids; the more you play, the better you'll get. And if you're on Xbox, hit me up. I'll keep you healed as best I can ;) I do however agree that (at least certain) exotic quests should have PvP or PvE options.

              • Then don't get the gun. That simple. Don't force yourself to do something you don't like. You can live without Ace, it's not a Whisper. You can also live without Chaperone, it's a garbage PvE exotic. Stop complaining, just don't do it.

              • Poll basically undermines the, "most people dislike pvp," argument. I can kind of accept brand new Destiny players to be irked some, I disagree but accept their opinions. But any D2 Y1 players should have expected this, after the SoH event. The Destiny universe is a pve, pvp, and now, with Gambit, a pvevp experience. Always has been. It has been marketed as such. Time to get over it, or simply move on to another game, imo.

              • while I don't necessarily like being made to do pvp stuff since it's prone to randomness and difficulty spikes not present in most other parts of the game I do need to point out that before forsaken came out everyone said they wanted a boss fight with uldren, which would essentially be pvp if we're thinking about it logically

                • Not a fan of PvP but don’t mind doing it I have too. Just gets frustrating having to use weapons I’m not good with. Wasn’t fun getting those handcannon kills for AOS but it was done in a few hours and next time I’m in there I can thankfully be using weapons I can have a good game with.

                • Well chaperone obviously requires PvP it's a PvP quest for a PvP gun so u would be unjustified in complaining about it. As for ace of spades it's really easy and I'm so sick of seeing all these whining posts. Relax nobody cares u don't play PvP if u want the gun maybe just get better and stop asking g for handouts.
