Golden Gun Needs Adjusting

The time you have it active for the three shots is way too short. Usually people can just run away easily and you wind up wasting it. All these other supers last longer and can get way more than 3 kills, while GG can only get up to 3 (the other one is not a really good choice and while it can technically get 5, that would have to be where everyone is there and you somehow don't die from them all targeting you. If they increased the time of the super being active, it would be a bit more viable. It also takes two shots to kill another super which is annoying

  • Yeah that'd be nice. I main Gunslinger so it's a bit frustrating that Arc-Strider and Nightstalker are so much more viable, and I'm not too good at using them either. I've played a like 3 games today where my super is completely wasted, making the 30 super kill objective for the Solstice armor that much more annoying. Hopefully I'll have a better time on my Titan and Warlock.

  • Easy fix: For 3 shot, remove timer. For 6 shot, extend duration from 8 seconds to 12 seconds, and grant recovery bonus per hit.

    • Long duration with less effective range, less damage, less stability, or less shots. Has to be a trade. At least for PvP.

      • An easy fix for Golden Gun would be to not have it start counting down until you take the first shot, then get faster and faster after each shot. That way it could be considered a roaming super, while retaining it's core functionality.

        All supers need adjusting because they are too simplistic. They focus on high DPS, and giving flat damage reduction with the press of a button ultimately asking little from the player. They need to change them to be more mechanically complex with their effectiveness based in that complexity. Specifically asking more of the player. Doing that would allow shorter cool downs as effectiveness isn't something that you can stumble into easily like they are now. Suddenly then the game gets more interesting. Not only are supers more frequent, the fear of using it for anything but the right time and place goes away. Fights get some depth, and people experiment with how it can aid them in that fight. Ultimately making PvP more fun because you get supers more, but keeping the chaos down because it's asking effort on part of the player. PvE allows us to do meaningful damage and the supers feel powerful for it.

          I agree GG is terrible, I came to D2 from D1 and had always played GG. That said I'm now making my hunter with tether and I don't really use it except for in PvE. In crucible I don't even act like I have a super but its better than pretending I do by having GG. GG takes to long to activate, been mild before I've even been able to aim down the sights. It doesn't last long enough and it's way to easy to be killed with it on. My advice for a buff would be 1. Extended duration 2. Each time you kill a target a round is returned to the magazine and duration is increased. (This works the same weather you have 1 round with the celestial night hawk or have 3/6 rounds depending on which subclass tree you have chosen) 3. Reduce animation time 4. For each piece of masterworked armour increase health and overshield by 10% 5. A Kill generates as many orbs as kills you have made through the duration of golden gun (1st kill = 1 orb total, 2nd kill = 2 orbs + the original, 3 orbs total)

          • Why dont you slide and pop your goldie instead? Example: you walk up to a corner, pop goldie, stand there for 2-3 seconds waiting for animation to finish, and then run around corner looking for enemies. Why not save yourself 2-3 seconds and slide into that super. You might be surprised how much more fluid it feels using goldie after that and how much easier it is to close in on enemies.           • These posts only come up during crucible event weeks. People who rarely bother with crucible get wrecked, and then complain about how the mechanisms don't work in their favor. GG is fine.

            • I personally don't think the super needs adjusting, its just must people dont realize you cant just use it at will like most other supers. The neutral game however needs to be looked at as there is literally nothing there with any significance other than chains of woe and the grenades are pretty meh, which is why Gunslinger is represented as one of the bottom win rate subclasses in crucible.

            • A side from the short timer, the action feed let's the enemy know that GG is active and they scatter like roaches, which makes it even more frustrating because you have no element of surprise.

              • It's the activation that gets me. Zoom out to 3rd person for a second, then back to 1st, then ADS with standard mobility. Wish I could activate it while ads and no animation

                • I mainly use Golden Gun in PvP. I don't even know why, it's not even the best thing to use. But hear me out: if it gets a timer adjustment, I think it needs a small one. I agree the time is way too fxckin short right now, as the only way to really make use of it is to pop the thing when a shit load of enemies are right around the corner. But I think it should have at least a little more time to give chase. People hear it and run because they know in 1.5 seconds, your GG is done. That being said, I think it should be a small bump, because the fxckin shots [i]are[/i] instantaneous. If you are staring at a golden gun, you're dead basically. There's no chance to dodge like a Hammer or Nova or anything else. You're just done. That kind of quickness roaming around a map could be ridiculous with Six Shooter if given too much time. Yes, more time, but still not as much as other roamers. Too much and it'll be insane. With that out of the way, here's your tip from a shoddy ass gunslinger: best way to pop GG is on an opponents side of the map. You can kinda get a feel for where their spawn is gonna be. If your team is slumming it at A with a couple guys holding down B? There's a good chance you pop on the C side, or at least toward that direction. Even in Clash you can kinda figure where they will be, pop on a crowd near the spawn then chug around the corner and clean up some spawns. This is how a lot of Lights Out medals are attained. Even if you don't make it to that spawn, the enemies are coming from there. And with 6's? Dear lord a Six Shooter can clean the fxck up. Especially if you're alone with a super and you have a family of team shots pushing you. Draw them toward a choke where it'll be too late for them to duck out, pop that Thang and fan the hammer. You'll probably get murdered by the guy in the back with the VWing, but it'll still feel sweet wiping his damn team.

                • 6 shooter is better for pvp. A lot better. You may have to two shot supers but it’s better than having to hit a headshot because of how fast you can shoot it

                • As a warlock main, I have to say I agree with some of this. However, most supers are a two hit kill on other supers. If golden gun was always a OHK, then hunters would be even more overused in PvP. But I respect it. As long as you’re not an arcstrider main😂

                  • I’d [u][i][b]love[/b][/i][/u] to see a significant damage buff for PvE. If I can only use 3 shots to hit 3 enemies (or 6 for 6), those enemies should [i]always[/i] die. Instead, I always seem to have to expend two shots on a single enemy (such as those helper servitors that spawn during the ether resupply public event) and I can’t even take out a second. Those servitors are [i]exactly[/i] the kind of enemies that Golden Gun should be reserved for and they’re obviously not the only example, but instead I’m relegated to using Celestial Nighthawk on a single boss or high tier enemy when my Legend Of Acrius or Whisper of the Worm could deal that damage just as easily, and without the use of a super. And don’t forget that you only have 8 seconds to line up six normal shots or 3 precision shots. That should be increased to 14 or so seconds.
