Why is it that when people in movies enjoy a food but learn it's something like an animal brain or fried bugs they stop eating it? Like you obviously enjoy it what are you trying to prove by not eating it just cause you know what it is now? If I was eating what I thought were some kind of foreign chips and I found out they were toasted beetles, I'd keep eating them if I thought they tasted good.
The exception I have is to this humans cause that basically means someone was killed to make your food.

By and large because once you know what it is, you CANNOT unsee what you're eating, and it almost invariably becomes a bit...off-putting. I mean, once you realize you're eating, say, bugs, no matter what they are, you think of the grossest bug possible, and it just becomes...ew

1 RespuestaI knew someone who loved gummy worms and the one day they look at what they have in them (bones/animal by-product) they swore to never eat them again. If you like something, have it. There was probably something else you had in your life that was way worse than that.

1 RespuestaIf I found out there was bugs or spiders in my food, I wouldn’t be able to keep eating. I just wouldn’t be able to stop thinking about that fact, which would make it impossible to actually put it in my mouth.

1 RespuestaBut if someone was killed to make your food, you should at least finish it rather than waste the product of their life which has already been taken.

Taste and appetite have strong (what we call) "emotional overlay". Ever have a meal that you absolutely love to eat, when its an occasional treat? But when you have to eat it everyday, you slowly grow to hate it? The taste of the food hasn't change...but the nature of your emotional PERCEPTION of it has. Which is why the experience of eating it can grow more and more negative as your need for variety in food is not met. In this case, we also receive a very strong cultural programming about what is...and is not..."okay" to eat as food. Some cultures....this programming is weak...and pretty much anything is fair game ("A true Chinese will eat anything with four legs except a table, and anything with wings except an airplane.") In other cultures---that programming is very powerful. Many cultures have strong proscriptions about certain kinds of creatures been "not fit for human consumption". They are essentially food taboos. ...and ironically, you answered your own question. Most cultures (not all) have VERY strong taboos where cannibalism is concerned. ..and the same reason you'd stop eating human flesh if you discovered you had been eating it (and likely would get physically ill)....others who have had one of their food taboos violate will stop eating whatever it is, and turn away in disgust.

They could have died of natural causes.

I guess some people just think the concept of eating something like that can be gross, regardless of how it tastes.

My mom bought fertilizer and she read the ingredients. One of the leading ingredients was "dog parts"......
also there's the whole conspiracy that they put human kidney parts from fetuses into certain foods, drinks, and all Nestle products to make them taste better...
